I was hoping Harry would portray Roberto Clemente in a movie after his passing./I had written the song for Roberto's memory and donated all rights to the Roberto Clemente foundation.It never happened.I have loved Harry since I was 13 my daughter loved him since she was 7.We both sang with him.Went back stage a number of times and had some pictures taken that mean so much to me.Harry is my number one role model...

I first got to hear Harry Belafonte sing "Hole in the bucket" with Odetta on Sri Lankan radio, but had the opportunity to listen to his Carngie Hall Concerts when I was working at the RCA Rcords outlet in Colombo, it was awesome! It was the first ever live recording in the industry and his power to move the audiences was unbelievable. "Matilda" he gets the audiences to sing along was sensational.He also introduced to the West great artists like Mariam Makeeba, Nana Mouskouri.

I met Harry numerous times.First time at the Coconut Grove in the Ambassador hotel in the 1953/54 time frame.We talked alot.He told me about South Africa back then when as a 13 year old white boy I knew nothing about.My mom had passed away the Christmas eve when Harry was at the Coconut Grove.Met Harry again at the mill run theatre in Skokie Illinois.My daughter at 7 was with me,she has loved him since.He sang Abraham Martin and John for her.Last time I saw Harry was at the aire crown theatre.
