Hey, Harry Belafonte! That's my name! I never heard this version! Wow, it makes me proud! Sadly, the world recently lost this great and talented man! But his memory & music will live on forever after! Rest in Heavenly Peace, Mr. Harry Belafonte!

When the world thought he was dead 1:40. I was biologically dead but praise to the Lord He put my spirit back into my body to share the good news about His Love, righteousness & salvation. Amen & so be it forevermore.❤🙏✝

HARRY BELAFONTE has influenced so many performers, so many singers. I was listening to a Neil Diamond album from 1974 entitled, SERENADE. There is do much of that album that draws directly from Harry's calypso albums, Check out the song, THE LAST PICASSO

Ed let Harry sing about Satan but wouldn't let Buddy Holly sing Oh Boy and wouldn't let Jim Morrison say the word higher. 😮

It's also interesting that Belefonte was allowed to appear with his shirt open like that--presumably because he was a black "islander"--whereas acts like Holly probably wouldn't be allowed to get away with that. I recently watched Siren of the Tropics, a 1920's silent film, and was surprised to see that the black actress, Josephine Baker, goes topless in several scenes in the movie. They'd never be able to show a topless white actress in a mainstream movie during that era

Consider that the next year, Poitier would win an Oscar on the shoulder of "A----Men" and a bunch of nuns. It is worth pondering if Harry turned the role down.

Mr. Belafonte stated he was offered the role but he refused because it didn't make sense for a Black man to appear from nowhere going nowhere and build a church for a bunch of Nazi nuns!🤣😂

Bit fast. Highwaymen is the only version. Sounds like Harry is in a rush to get to the men's room.
