I was there today, New York avenue. First time I was ever there and I was at Harrys last concert at Eisenhower park July 16th 1981, and of course he never showed up. I was 18 at the time and me and my friends were all psyched up because we were so close to the stage and this man announced over the PA what had happened and everybody started crying. It was so sad you cannot even begin to imagine, EVERYBODY was crying..there was Harrys stool on stage all empty. It was unbelievable. People actually stayed all night playing his music whether it be from tape recorders or guitars. I remember ABC news also showed up, John Slattery the reporter who died a few years ago. 1981, that was a long long long time ago..When I went to his grave today I actually said "Harry, you never showed up!" I also told him I was a volunteer for his Long Island Cares which I did for a few years. If anyone on Long Island is interested in volunteering here is the website..........www.licares.org/

The BEST concert I ever attended. Better than The Rolling Stones, Santana, Elton John and other great artist I've seen. While walking out of the concert with my wife someone behind us put his arms over our shoulders and asked how we liked the show? We turned around and it was Harry! Smiling and a regular guy. And that's what I told him, "the greatest concert I ever been to." He smiled and said, "thanks, glad you liked it." Then looked at my wife and said to me, " looks like you're a lucky guy." He was just walking through the crowd on his way outside to sign autographs and take pics to raise donations for a charity after his concert. We both had tears the day he went to Heaven.. Thanks for a life long memory Harry...

I tried to find his grave in Long Island and no one knew where to look, the cemetery was empty and all of a sudden a man came out of nowhere and took us there and talked with us an hour, it was Harry's brother Steve and before he left he said "Thanks for remembering Harry."

The music never dies we have all received it. Its inside us and nobody can take it away. He won't make any new music. But the music he did make live on inside us all.

No doubt you still miss him. If Harry were still here, what wisdom do you think he would convey in 2013? He's one of the greatest musicians ever. I've been listening to him for 30 years and I NEVER grow tired of him.

I haven't been there since Oct 11, 2001... It's a hike if you don't know exactly where it is! Thank you so much for posting this! One day I hope to visit again and leave my own stone this time... I especially love that someone left their replica of the Congressional medal of honor, mine is my most treasured possession, a coworker of Sandy's sent it to me shortly after my trip up there from Texas... Harry died 8 months before I was born. The world lost a great man when we lost Harry.

i wish you would have focused on the text on the stone more. i would have loved to be able to read it. i paused the video to read it but kind of blurring for what i could read it sounds like the lyrics to "I Wonder What Would Happen To The World" actually one of my favorite songs of Harry's. It's funny how make out a word here and there got me to that song. I guess i must know it well. lol
