I think what really makes these sketches is the knowledge that Hitler would have hated this mockery probably more than any others. All that fury and rhetoric, reduced to camp foppery. All that arrogance and megalomania, and when he isn't portrayed as a monster, he's just a punchline.

We have been taking the p**s out of the Nazis for longer than people think. There was a very clever British propaganda film showing goose stepping German soldiers to the tune of "Doing The Lambeth Walk" which was a popular song at the time. The film used very clever techniques to reverse the film and fast forward it again. This was early in the war and made us laugh at the most brutal and fearsome army in the world, an army that was on our doorstep. Just found it on KZbin, check out Lambeth Walk Nazi style it's just brilliant, made in 1941
