You are dead right with your comments my friend . When I was at school (UK church school) we were taught that the term "Black " Was considered offensive ...I think because it gave racists the chance to use an expletive after it , so we were taught to say "coloured" so as not to cause offense ....30 years later its the exact opposite so its no wonder that different generations trip them selves up . but as long as the intentions are pure we have to give some grace , some latitude . Some times things change faster than we do as people. Love your channel !!

Luke Mills It’s like Alf Garnet in the 70’s. He was always having a go at black people and gays in his show but when a football fan met him once he said “I love your show mate! I love the way you always take the piss out of the blacks!” He replied “what are you on about? We’re not making fun of the blacks mate. We’re making fun of idiots like you! You’re just not smart enough to get the joke!”
@Xegethra
@Xegethra 4 жыл бұрын
@Luke Mills People will be offended by anything. But yeah this sketch is on the side of gay people, it's just a bit of fun. You can make fun of gay people and the people around them at the same time without any malice. Making fun of people's fear of gay people more than gay people themselves. Although there's a bit both in there, you have to joke about what makes up the world or you joke about very little.

Your final monologue is so spot on. The jokes in this sketch aren't designed to be making fun of homosexuality, the target of the joke is the nervous dad who puts his foot in it. He's uncomfortable but that is not the same as being unaccepting. This sketch would have been very progressive back in it's day, because it is all about someone from an older generation, trying to be there for his son in the best way he can, with all of his flaws and imperfections on show.

Its a shame but comedy like this is being made less and less now, and many people would find in offensive, I think there is no balance anymore Harry Enfield hasn't been on British TV for a while, I loved his programs and laughed my head off. Glad you enjoyed it AWR, Enfield was one of the top comedians and invented so many brilliant characters. I think its dealing with the anxiety of the situation, I would find it awkward if my son was Gay and he brought his boyfriend for the first time, and be struggling with the situation, this comedy plays on those toe curling moments we all go through. Great Video.

Just stumbled across this video, such great reaction! I probably laughed harder at you laughing than I actually did at Harry Enfield haha. And the advice at the end from you was spot on, too 👌🏾👍🏾 I will be definitely be watching more of your vids. Harry Enfield was crazy popular back in the day, over here in the UK, seeing you react to it was great.

Hi, first time I have seen your channel and I must say your footnote was a great (wise) evaluation of how we should learn from the inevitable mistakes people make. All people. Thanks

What you said was totally right. It's like learner drivers when people get frustrated with them for not already knowing how to drive. It's like they forget they had to learn first. Everyone has to learn.

Love this Harry Enfield. Sorry to keep on bud but I’d love it if you could check out some Harry and Paul, in particular the Americans sketch! Your reaction would be amazing. Keep doing the good thing with your channel. By the way is Taylor coming back? One more thing - your T shirts are awesome 😎 you have so many!

You speak the absolute truth there bro but I don’t think it’ll do you any favours with the old KZbin algorithms, they don’t like facts and straight forward thinking. I do tho and your laugh makes me laugh even if the clip isn’t that funny so keep it up man 👍🏼
