As I was a walking down Paradise street. A flash looking packet I chanced for to meet. She was bowling along with her wind blowin' free. She clewed up her courses and waited for me. She was round in the counter and bluff in the bow. So I hauled in all sail and cried were are you up now. Where she did hail from I really can't tell. but I gave her my flipper we're both bound for hell. So all you young sailors take warning by me. Never take a young Liverpool girl on your knee.

Nice, interesting raspy voice. Was he of that social strata or is it all just an act?
@VintageBritishComedy9 жыл бұрын
+finehomemadewine Well he wasn't at rag and bone man or common sailor level but he was upper lower class or lower-middle class. He was born in Burma as his father was a Quartermater Sergeant and he grew up in Ardwick, Manchester, a fairly poor area then. His first job was as a radiographer before he took up acting, so he wasn't as lowly as the characters he became typecast as.

+finehomemadewine It's an old-fashioned class distinction but feel free to use it feely! :)

He was real posh. Spoke like the queen he did. Wilfred Bramble too, he was the same. And the 'orse.
