Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC Extended Mod - Part 16

Walkthrough of the recently concluded HP2 PC Extended Mod, showcasing most of the changes introduced. The majority of these changes are custom and they probably don't represent the original developers' vision.

This mod requires the latest version of the "Metallicafan212's Harry Potter 2 Engine & Editor" to run. Gameplay was recorded at 1920x1080 resolution, borderless fullscreen, DX9 Renderer, and VSync enabled (60 fps).
The M212 HP2 Engine/Editor not only ships with a fully-fledged editor for the game, but provides support for DirectX 11 rendering, 64-bit, (ultra) widescreen resolutions, borderless window, horizontal+ FOV, uncapped framerate, X360 controller, and more. The New Engine/Editor will keep your game's language.
The Extended Mod is fully localized in the following languages: English UK (INT) and USA, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal), and Spanish. Text translations available in Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.

Timestamps of the changes: Entry Hall Hub 02:39 - The Fat Lady pushes back Goyle Grounds Night 03:39 - Hagrid won't let Goyle in 04:22 - The fake Entry Hall background shows the Christmas trees Slytherin Common Room Quest 05:39 - Removed the Poisonous Gas sound effect at the start 05:50 - The lights of the candles now move with the walls 05:56 - The lighting in the room was slightly changed to fit the nighttime theme (same goes for the other three connecting rooms, though not very noticeable) 06:15 - Fixed the various invisible collisions in this room (06:30 and 06:33) 07:06 - The gate no longer shuts at the edge of the doorway 07:26 - The Slytherin student has a wand now 07:40 - The Flipendo switch is now more centred 07:57 - The blocks cutscene now plays only once 09:33 - Added a savebook 11:25 - Replaced a random Slytherin student with the Slytherin Prefect 12:17 - Fixed the see-through on the floor that would reveal the dragon statue 12:35 - The water sound effect no longer plays when the fountain face opens 12:55 - Added Christmas trees in the Common Room (also at 13:15 and 13:24) 15:52 - Unabridged stealth music now plays 16:02 - Added a tile on the secret wall (on the side of the library) 16:06 - The jingle in this secret area now plays as soon as Harry enters from either side Transition 16:27 - Removed the line mentioning Nearly-Headless Nick for coherence (since Justin was also petrified); added snow falling, snow textures and other details seen in Part 13.

In some versions of the game, they do play the Polyjuice Potion scene like how its done with Ron and Hermione too...... Ron becomes Crabbe and then Hermione's cat transformation.

This may be the nostalgia talking, but the French dub is just so much better than the original. One thing I noticed in this segment specifically, when Harry drinks the potion, he plugs his nose because it stinks. There’s no change here, but in the French version the voice actor actually said thanks with a plugged nose 😂 Love this mod! Thanks for sharing ❤

Thank you for your words and I'm happy you enjoyed the mod :) Though I don't understand much of French, I have noticed the VAs had done an incredible job. I have made some localization-specific fixes wherever possible. For example, I noticed the camera's position when Harry picks up the sword ended up misaligned in some localizations compared to the English version. So, I managed to time the sequence and get the camera in the same position in every localization.

why punish those who are bad at stealth and lose up to 50 points, besides after you get cought and lose the points, how dose this make sense that you respawn where you start and still somehow lose the points, you would think if you get cought, you lose the house points and then they kick you out of the dungeons and then progress the story, how about you fail at stealth, you lose 20-50 points, they kick you out, and the story continues, the only downside is that getting bean bonus room after spongify maybe harder to achieve.

I understand your point, but the game doesn't offer any opportunity to lose house points. As the mod implements the alternate ending in which Slytherin wins the House Cup, I thought it would make sense to get the chance to lose points outside of the Transfiguration Class sequence. Getting caught in the Slytherin Common Room was the only opportunity I could find. I understand the approach I took was very "gamey" and doesn't really apply to real life, but I thought of the following to justify my choice: 1) Canonically, Harry never gets caught and expelled during his second year. So, the sequence itself is completely made-up and nobody seems to be upset about it; 2) This is the same game in which they thought it was a good idea to have a spoiled, bossy Slytherin kid go outside in the winter and sleep in a barn in which there were supposed to be pigs at some point. Why? Why would Goyle need to do this? No reason. It's just an excuse so the devs could make a game. As such, I feel entitled to take whatever "gamey" approach that suits the mod's needs.

@@divingdeep39 11:25 btw i notice you made a custom slytherin prefect, possibly a recolor of percy, what this has to do with any of this you may ask? in the PS2 harry potter game, prefects walks the castle at night, you could make custom prefects for ravenclaw and hufflepuff and have them spawn in the entrence area at night, give them the same AI as the slytherin kids, they see you and then chase you, and you could do it for ether every night, except for night 1, or just the night you turn into goyal, now why im asking this, well if you wanna get a edge on the bean bonus room or not getting the slytherin wins ending, have goyal get cought by a prefect and have them take away house points from slythrin. PLUS in the movie harry and ron As crab and goyal was cought by a griffindore prefect / Percy when trying to find the commen room!

@@mardiman641 the Slytherin Prefect has always been in the game files but went unused. I simply replaced a student with that one. The stealth mechanics in this game is so janky that using it in other sections would be like wishing the worst to the player.
