Kelly Fairman does anyone else feel like Draco could've been a huge hero or at least a "good guy" if people would actually give him the chance. It's not what you do wrong or right that make you a good person because we all make mistakes. It's the influence people have on us and the influence we have on people. Draco would've stayed but his mother had to call him. He would've been a huge help to this battle. Am I right?

My eyes suddenly filled with tears when Draco ran back to Harry's side. Draco wasn't evil, he was a sympathetic villain as well as a victim. He was simply born into a family of snobbish pure-bloods and forced to think and feel a certain way. Thankfully he overcame it all in the end.

They should have kept in Draco's part. It explains so much like how Harry got the freaking wand and the smile between them in the end. That and Draco needed to be able to have at least one scene where his true character showed. I mean you got a glimpse of it in the Half Blood Prince when he doesn't want to kill Dumbledore and looks like he is going to cry when he does actually die but this would have shown that he was good and wasn't really a coward.They should re-release in say about 10 years! Draco doesn't want to do what Voldemort says, he doesn't want to kill and he's scared of going against the entire school and his professors, the only reason he serves Voldemort is because he's had to because of the threat that Voldemort would kill him and his family. But that doesn't mean that Draco likes Harry or that he was 'good' all along. Draco does what will keep him alive, but he isn't inherently cruel or evil...he's just....a bit of a spoiled brat tbh xD always boasting and bragging but not having the guts to do anything when the timecame. He's an interesting character, but as shown in the books (and as everyone seems to forget) two seconds after Harry Ron and Hermione had just saved him, he was trying to convince the death eaters that he was on their side.

I am mad at the director for cutting this out of the movie! This is a HUGELY IMPORTANT part of this scene! This redeems Draco's whole character! It is like when Snape gives Harry his memories! YOU CAN'T CUT THIS OUT!!!!!!
@moustacheentertainment961510 жыл бұрын
Why would they cut this out? This clearly shows the best in Draco. In the movie, what they are saying is that Draco is evil and doesn't care about anyone but himself. However, in this extended scene, it shows how Draco doesn't hate Harry. In fact, in the Chamber of Secrets, Draco agreed with Ron as Crabbe (even though Ron disagreed) that Harry Potter was the worst person in the school. However, now, it says Draco thinks of Harry as Human. In The Sorcerers Stone, Draco wanted to make friends with Harry. They nevr made friends as far as we know after that. So many fans never find out the other side of Draco unless they watched this. Only around 100,000 out of all of the fans have seen the good side of Draco.
@Musicmore100010 жыл бұрын
I agree, though in the other version of this scene it does kind of show Draco's reluctance to join the other side. In the other scene I think they do a good job of making it clear that he joins only because his mother tells him to, not his father or his own choice. Throughout the series it hints that Draco had a very strong bond with his mother, and he wanted to do what she thought was best.

You're forgetting though, that we did see the good in Draco in DH1 when the trio was caught by the snatchers and brought back the Malfoy Manor. Draco lied to Bellatrix when he knew it was Harry. @user-ce3oc6xv2c10 жыл бұрын
They cut Draco's scene because that was OOC. Draco wishes with all his heart that Voldemort would fall, but he wouldn't stand up to him like that. Draco is brave, but not that type of brave. He just wanted to be safe with his family and that war to end. He didn't want to be the direct cause of Harry's death, because killing someone is scary and even if it was a weird relationship, he and Harry still had a link, but he wouldn't risk his life to save him either. I do believe that Draco has good inside of him, but he isn't a reckless guy. The only person for which he would have dared to make that kind of heroic moment would be his parents. Hints of his good personnality were dropped though ; his hesitation in the room of requirement, his despair when he faced dumbledore, his lie to bellatrix... And in the books, there is his first appareance, the nod in the epilogue... If you're not smart enough to catch the hints, then you're not smart enough to understand Draco's character, who is SUBTLE, not flashy. How dumb would it be to help Harry while being surrounded by Death Eaters ?
@itskaaee10 жыл бұрын

@transarchivist9 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think it was ooc at all. Draco's a coward but he knows that he needs to help Harry and I think it'd been building up to this moment quite nicely, it was almost painfully obvious to me that Draco would step in at some point - especially after Harry saving his life earlier that day. And I don't think he'd do it for his parents, either - not Lucius anyway. I think the only thing that made Draco do this was for what he eventually realised was the greater good. Slowly Draco's been realising what's right and what isn't and it's only now he's finally built up the courage to do something about it. I don't think he'd do it for anyone but Harry.
@user-ce3oc6xv2c9 жыл бұрын
I don't think that he really cares for what is right or not. Well, maybe he does, but it's not his top priority. He won't fight for justice ; it's too abstract. However, he would act to protect his parents, like Narcissa lied to Voldemort to find Draco. I think he did want the war to end with the defeat of Voldemort ; however, not at the risk of his own life, or only if he had absolutly no choice (meaning : he alone could do something, and without getting killed the next second for it)
@sanim039 жыл бұрын
It's not out of character, especially the way they built him in the movies from 6. It would've been a fitting conclusion to his arc and resolve the rivalry in a way. Regardless I don't believe this happened in the book, so it would've been something that hardcore fans would've hated but I won't lie when I say I wish this was in the book and movie too.
@reynadupre257711 жыл бұрын
I can't believe that this was cut out from the movie! It's really important to Draco's story and character development. He's not a good person, but he's not completely evil like Voldemort. He's just very, very scared for himself and his parents. For the first five books/movies, Draco's been spoiled. He had never had to do something as important and serious as murdering Dumbledore and getting the Dark Mark. It's a big change in such a short amount of time, so you can't really blame him for being so cowardly. Draco's choices are very realistic for someone who is put in that position.

I am sooooooooooooo freaking upset at the fact that they cut out the tiniest piece of film but could be in fact the greatest piece of film I've ever seen in my life. the moment where the so-called "bad guy" Draco Malfoy throws his wand to Harry......if they didn't film that scene AT ALL that would have meant (for me at least) that they don't really think Draco is that big enough of character to make a Redemption moment about but they did and they just edited out which makes me super sad and the fact that most people won't ever realize that this was an ACTUAL thing that could have happened in the movie makes me so sad and sooooooooooooo frustrated

I personally feel like they could have put this scene in the movie. Not to actually redeem his character because I don't think Draco was that nice of a guy. He was a product of his parents and wither we like it or not, he wasn't a good guy. However, I don't believe he was stupid, as in, not intelligent. He knew what a losing fight looked like and throwing Harry the wand would have also proved to his family and classmates where his true loyalties lied. I mean, it doesn't make any sense that he wasn't seriously punished by his mere associations to the Death Eaters. Not to mention that he actually accepted the curse mark himself. But throwing Harry the wand could have been the factor that saved his own future and it would also have made a lot of sense to the readers and the movie watchers. I thought it was really strange that Draco stood at KingsCross and sent his son off. If he had somehow acted to prove his true loyalties, then I can understand and accept easier. After having read the books and all the material JK have put out on Draco and his family, I've come to the conclusion that she hasn't portrayed Draco the way she talks about him in interviews. She dislikes Draco and are slightly confused/uncomfortable with the idea that so many girls like Draco. But I don't find it strange at all. Despite his bad attitude and general shitty behavior towards the trio, I find Draco to be incredibly brave. Bravery doesn't have to be about saving the fair maiden or sacrificing oneself. He fought for his family and he was in the epicenter of a war, literally. The fact that he was strong enough to do what he did in a situation such as that, I feel like he deserves more credit than he gets.

+xein89 Draco was a good guy. He's the textbook definition of that schoolyard bully who talks big but would never actually beat somebody up. He wasn't a bad guy, but he thought he wanted to be. Every time he actually had to make a choice, he hesitated because he knew it was wrong. That's not the actions of a bad guy--that's the actions of a good guy who is too cowardly to stand for what he actually believes in. So your analysis of his character is way off.

There are many factors that could be considered with Draco throwing the wand.. -harry saved draco's life in the room of requirement. Possibly believes he owes him. A life debt perhaps? -Draco, like his family, wanted nothing more to do with voldemort. Knowing harry was alive possibly due to Narcissa he probably just wanted him to get rid of the dark lord. Possibly sending him over to the death eaters again was because Narcissa knew he was alive and was telling Draco about it? Just some thoughts -

I wonder how old you are based on this comment. 19 years is a long time for people to recognize the faults of the actions of our youths. A lot of time to realize how much sway parents actually have over children's behavior and actions. There's also the fact that Draco did, you know, not rat him out when he had the chance. and Harry had watched Dumbledore, until his dying breath, trust the good in Draco. Then there is the fact that all kids deserve an education, no matter how shitty you may feel their parents are. So it's really not that weird for there to be an acknowledgment at kings cross without this scene, even just watching the movies. But I am indeed still upset that this was cut

Draco is probably my second favorite character. He's so underrated in the films...here's my thinking on it: In all of the badness and subtle goodness that is he, Draco's inevitably just a teenage boy that is tired of it all and just wants it to end. He was raised by parents that have drilled the thought of serving Voldemort into his head, along with the fact that he will undoubtedly serve them. They believed in their subconscious that he would, and Draco, like everyone, did not want to dishonor his family and most of all his parents. I feel like his fate has been set out for him before he even got the chance to make it himself, just by being a Malfoy, that he's just so incredibly done with it all. He doesn't really hate Harry, though he tried so hard to because he's supposed to. He doesn't really hate the others either, such as Dumbledore (which can be seen after his death), but he's filled with the thought of "I have to do this" and "don't disappoint, don't disappoint" that he keeps up his walls and just let's everything play out. In the end, he's just this broken boy who is unconsciously forced to act the way he does without actually feeling what he seem to feel, shown in the scene where he throws the wand at Harry. He cares, he just doesn't know how to without facing the disappointment from his parents.

I think that the scriptwriter wanted to show that Draco feels thankful to Harry for saving him from the fire in the room of requirement, and show that Draco never wanted Voldemort to win, because he has been terrorized too. Man I would have love to see Draco give Harry his wand in the movie. It would have been epic

GOD WHY ON EARTH CUT IT OUT? It's not out of character people, IT IS THE CHARACTER developing!! I will consider this Draco's reaction, I don't care about the movie

I wish they had left this in the movie, though I can see why they didn't since this scene wasn't in the book.

***** True. They should have made the ending more like the book, but we can't have everything.... and its not like they changed it completely.... but yeah I see your point.

I don't care if it's OOC, I wish they'd put this in the film -tear- Draco isn't really a bad guy, he just was raised the wrong way and really didn't have a choice, because of voldemort.

Aww that part when Draco said potter and ran to them just melted me ♡

I wish they would have left this in... It would give people a better understanding of Draco. Everyone sees Harry as the brave hero but I think Draco has it harder than Harry. Harry, from the beginning, has been taught to do the right thing and has had many people supporting him in that. In Draco's case it's "Be evil or be killed" and that's freaking scary. Of course in the beginning of the series he was an impressionable kid who thought it was cool to be "evil", but he had no idea what being"evil" entailed. Starting in the HBP you start to see a huge character development. The smallest things he has done to help Harry (ex. Lying to Bellatrix) could cost him his life. In the book or not, this scene is amazing in showing that Draco is not evil and it would have really brought on the feels.

then again, it's pretty comical considering one is an official scene and the other is a deleted one. It's like.... Neville: Draco: POTTER!!

Why was draco's scene deleted? This is the most impressive scene in whole movie.

Makes more sense why Neville said "Harry's heart did best for us". The scene that was shown in the theater was great but this was just so amazing!

draco saving Harry was a really important part explaining how Harry got his wand back and showed Draco's true loyalty ( also narcissa) and it helps explain the courteous nod at the end of the film. they really should have added that quick 3 second clip and though it is short it explains a whole lot about the feud between Harry and Draco, also it shows reason of narcissa and Draco, they were forced death eaters narcissa, by marriage and Draco as both of his parents were and he and his mom would have been killed
@animalphanatik11 жыл бұрын
I agree. It's a huge part of his character development and it's only a second or two long.

Draco wouldn't have gone back to Voldemort if his mother hadn't told him to come to her. Draco only followed what his parents told him to do.

I've actually been keeping track of what deleted scenes have been excluded from the DVD releases and, you're right, there are a ton. It's really frustrating because other film series will release everything they cut while the Potter series has given us less than half.

I AM SHOOKT! I seriously teared up and felt goosebumps, why the hell did they cut this out??? for the 20th anniversary they should release the movies again with the deleted scenes and all. I NEED MORE OF HP!!!

It's only boring if you never actually read the books. Ginny was 100x better in the novels. Also, after everything Malfoy did to him you really think Harry would go for him, even if he did swing that way?

You are completely right!! As soon as I saw this got so offended. The reason being is that in those 5 seconds the story completely changed for me. I thinking this also from the point of view of someone who saw the movies first, so the movies are what I based my judgment and knowledge about the story and the characters on. So those 5 seconds could and probably would change someones point of view of the story/characters that has only seen the movies.

I always thought it strange that Hagrid was never attacked more or fought more (then i read about his ban on magic). I mean, if he manages to make use of all his animal knowledge and support, he'd probably be a force to reckon with.

omg why did they cut this out, it have made the film only 0,00003 seconds longer, but the entire world would be 300000 times happier. Goddamnit. They really should hire a fan on all of the 'book films' just to advise them about stuff like this. I will happily volunteer!
