He succeeded too, he died again but he got to kill Kal-El in the process. Zach's DC Universe started off well in MoS. Superman was just learning the ropes, but he had potential. You could see it in his progressive chemistry with Lois Lane. We saw early on that Zach's penultimate vision was for Superman's humanity to be tied to Lois Lane, setting up Injustice. This Superman is more logical and a realistic portrayal of a super being in the modern world; similar to The Dark Knight trilogy or The Batman. His love for humans was crushed by the way they treated him early on, but Lois believed in him so much he's staked his life for this world over and over again. Affleck's Batman is battle hardened and experienced. He's out of touch with the world and needed to kill the MoS to rediscover his conscience. Hans Zimmer captured the tragedy so masterfully. I believe the setup was primitive but sufficient if well-executed. However, the politics of the day caused the execs to meddle in Zach's work, editing in many easter eggs and cutting out many areas leading to plot holes. I also believe that the audience was too used to Disney's witty and comical storytelling by that time that a dark Nolan-type movie wasn't gonna cut it for a CBM. The fans were just too divided. However, had the project received adequate backing, the Injustice Saga and Redemption would have gone full circle for the man of steel's character arc. But lo and behold, "We need to copy what Marvel is doing!" Best believe, Cavill has the chops to pull of a corny Grant Gustin for a multiverse Superman fighting himself. This time, it just wasn't to be. The odds were struck against him. The only thing a second cut would do for BvS would be to add some Netflix dialogue for the audience and a prequel to introduce this Batman and Wonder Woman. Cause it went by so fast! Wdym Clark's learning the ropes and dies by his second outing? WTF WB? At this point, it's safe to say WB rushed the DCEU for clickbait.

When he's depleted of it or when he's weakened or injured or near death, going to the sun replenishes and heals him. The sun doesn't go away at night more like the earth revolves around the earth causing day and night cycles. If supes wanted to he could fly out of his region into a region where its daytime or just directly fly to the sun. Superman's anatomy works like a highly efficient advanced solar panel, his cells soak in and store solar radiation. I guess the process is quite akin to photosynthesis though I might be wrong.

It's baffling to me how Snyder made a nearly perfect comic-accurate film with 300, did it again with Watchmen, and then _p a i n t e d_ the DC universe with the hottest diarrhea his body could physically produce. I don't understand where the passion for accuracy went. Not to mention, most younger fans won't remember this but DC was in a heap of hot water the first time they killed Supes in the comics with this story, and all as some theatrical publicity stunt to try and breathe new life into a dying comic book industry with pure shock value. Then they brought him back to life in the cheapest and most ham-fisted, poorly written way possible, and permanently ruined mortal stakes in the DC universe from then on. Death forever lost its weight, if someone died you'd just assume some magical fenagling would bring them right back in the next issue. Comic book fans across America were absolutely livid. For the life of me, I don't know what in the world possessed Snyder to assume this specific story was the one worth a movie budget. It was the same dishonest trick all over again, kill Superman as a publicity stunt to galvanize the fans into supporting DC projects so the company would have a fighting chance against Marvel's Infinity saga. What a stupid, unnecessary risk that never paid off.
