Andre Montoya he wasn’t perfect but he demonstrated that he had compassion and love that is immense, everlasting. I think his temper and ill-mannered treatment of Harry and his friends makes more him complex and interesting. Only Alan Rickman's portrayal of him. In the book, Snape is unbearable, petty, and vindictice, he never really got over Marauders' bullying of him. He basically bullies students (mainly Gryffindor students, preferably Harry and Neville) to vent his anger and grudge. Sure his love for Lily softens him somewhat, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a sadistic, unfair, and unprofessional teacher to his students.

And no, he did not do that for Lily, as he continued to work for good even after Dumbledore died, after revealing that Harry must die - making his promise to protect Harry so her death is not in vain insignificant. And sorry, but if his taunting was the price for constant protection, risking his own life, then it was. Actions speak louder than words. Snape never crossed Hogwards rules with his teaching methods like Moody, Hagrid, Dumbledor or Umbridge did. Snape is one of, imo THE best HP character because of how complex he is - deeply flawed, haunted, layered, sad, brave, full of contradictions. Considering the emotional pressure he was under, he was a masterful spy. He doesnt suit your black and white labels or world view, which are imo incredibly immature.

It's a small detail but I love it whenever we're reminded that students from other houses get together. A big thing that I didn't like about the movies was how divided the houses were. And how harry wants to have all the normal experiences thats his peers have had but the more important things and the world keep forcing him to his destiny even though its sad. And classic crouch in disguise as moody always there watching. Almost feel like crouch admired harry in a weird way but was always commited to the death eater cause regardless

After all, if some self-entitled parent's "darling" gets pregnant/gets someone pregnant on school grounds, the teachers are on the chopping block as acceptable scapegoats while letting said parents ignore THEIR own responsibility in raising said kids NOT to know that safe sex is the only acceptable option if you're going to have sex. Meanwhile, if the same action can be pinpointed as happening outside of the school, it's the parents and students' problems, the school is not liable. It's sad, but there's a LOT of self-entitled parents who act like teachers are replacement parents and babysitters who are supposed to do the parents' jobs for them

For those of you wondering, the reason Igor wanted to see Snape’s arm is because of the Death Eater’s dark mark on his arm. Both of Snape’s and Karkoroff’s dark marks were blacker which is a sign that Voldemort was growing stronger and Igor was terrified of that.
