Sirius had 3 female *cousins* who's maiden names were Black. They were sisters. Narcissa Malfoy, Bellatrix LeStrange and Andromeda Tonks. Andromeda was cast out of the family for marrying a muggleborn wizard. Draco and Nymphadora Tonks are 1st cousins. Bellatrix not only killed her cousin Sirius at the Ministry fight. She tried to kill her niece "Tonks"as well. We got a lot more memories about Voldemort in the book. I wish they hadn't cut them out of the movie.

Why Harry isn’t explained in the films. The prophecy in OotP should have explained - it said that the one with the power to defeat him would be born at the end of July to parents who have thwarted him three times and Voldemort will mark him as his equal and neither can live while the other survives. It is explained then that Lily and James had thwarted him as members of the order three times. HOWEVER, so had Neville’s parents and he was also born at the end of July. So Neville could have been the chosen one… But, Voldemort saw the similarities in Harry as a half-blood rather than thinking that it would be a pure-blood like Neville (even though his beliefs and that of his followers think pure bloods are more powerful)…so Voldemort, by attacking Harry and Lily putting herself between them, saved Harry, but the result of the curse that should have killed Harry “marked him”…so Voldemort made Harry the chosen one, not Neville… Hope that explains! 🙂

That date in the beginning with the muggle girl at the underground diner didn’t exist in the books. Harry definitely wasn’t randomly walking around London. He was picked up by Dumbledore from the Dursleys and the whole scene was chaotic with the Dursleys very afraid of Dumbledore.

I saw an explanation once for why Hermione suddenly isn't doing as well in potions class that really makes sense: When Snape was teaching, he always put the instructions for the potion they were making on the board, and it stands to reason that he would include his modifications for each potion in the instructions. Slughorn on the other hand had them read the instructions out of the book which by the number of corrections Snape had made, really wasn't very good. Hermione was very good at following instructions so her skills in potions went down with the quality of the instructions.

Voldemort was furious after losing the prophecy and blamed Lucius for the failure since he was in charge. Draco wasn't given a mission, it was a death sentence, he was supposed to be killed in the process as punishment for his father's failure. It would've torn Lucius apart knowing he was the cause of his son's death and Narcissa would have gone mad.

19:13 Ron and Ginny's Quidditch Career actually started in the 5th Book, Both won the Quidditch cup for Gryffindor the same year, Ron was still Keeper and Ginny played as a back up Seeker and Chaser. As for your starting question: Voldemort was never after James and Lily. His target was Harry, based on the prophecy they obtained in the last film that basically said "a boy born at the end of July is going to be your downfall, because he has something you don't, and one of you has to take the other out." Based on that, he went after Harry to murder his prophesied advesary as a baby. It's all explained in OotP, but it's kind of squashed between action scenes and losing Sirius, so you're not the only reactor who gets a bit muddled on that.

My biggest issue with the movie was how they cut out so much due to time constraints (understandable, since you can't put the entire book into a 1.5 hour film), but then added the burning of the burrow, an entire scene that wasn't in the book. Which means they had to cut even more to fit that in.

The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother, who was a witch, had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts. The ironic thing about Harry is that he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old textbook with all of Snape's handwritten notes and didn't realize that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions. 📖⚗️🧪🪄

The main reason Harry had such a hard time under Snape's teaching was that Snape was so hard on him. If Snape had treated him as a normal student, he would have done much better. Harry's DADA grades suffered in this book with Snape teaching that class.

Also your observations of Slughorn were spot on I haven’t heard a reactor mention that at all about Slughorn the first time they watch the doctored memory he is very vain & even though he’s not an evil wizard he likes to be seen & associated with people of status & is easily subjected to flattery which is how Tom was able to worm his way into gaining his trust to disclose the Horcrux info.

*Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone is another. I think another good example is the good questions he was asking in Chamber Of Secrets when Harry found that crumpled up book page in Hermione's hand.*

If you split your soul in 7 then there are 6 horcruxes plus the piece retained in Voldemort's body. In the books Harry slowly becomes attracted to Ginny throughout the years whereas in this film it comes out of nowhere. Also remember that Emma Watson is really too beautiful to play Hermione and the screen writer was trying to make it that Harry and Hermione were a good fit. Although this was JKR's original intention, she changed it and you nailed it as 'Ginny: the triple threat!'

Okay so you asked why Harry? That whole prophecy in the last film was why - in the books it’s explained so I’ll try to clarify a bit. The entirety of the prophecy is as follows: “the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches.. born to those who have thrice defied him.. born as the 7th month dies.. and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal but will have power the Dark Lord knows not.. and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.” When Dumbledore explains this to Harry, he explains also that HE is the one who the prophecy was spoken to, and it was done by Professor Trelawney during her job interview, when a death eater spy was caught having only listened to the first half of the prophecy. He gave Voldemort the incomplete prophecy, and Voldemort chose Harry to be the one, when it could have actually been Neville as well. He chose the half blood like him, rather than the pure blood 👀

Yeh I assume I'll always remember the feeling of reading this book when it came out. When you're watching it you can just zone out and let it wash over you, stewing in your feelings. When you're reading the book you stop when you see it, so you're just left in a void in your room not knowing anything else, and after a minute or two you have to force yourself to keep reading. The movie it just happens past you and you're already somewhere else. When you're reading it you have to actively be in the moment and do the act of dragging your eyes across it. It always sticks out in my memory, the feeling of having to force my eyes across more of that text. If you stop paying attention to the movie it keeps happening and you can like hear it from a mile away and process it in your own time; if you stop reading the book you're just stuck in that eternal moment until you submit yourself to more of it to finish the story. It was a real exercise in will power in my youth, to finish reading that book

You're correct about Fred and George's apparitions in previous movies. In order to apparate, you must be of age (17), and you must first pass a very stringent test or you risk being splinched, leaving parts of yourself behind.

In the movie, Unbridge gave Cho the truth serum to find out about the room of requirement. But at first everyone just thinks she snitched, so by the time Harry found out the truth, they already had their falling out. In the books however, Cho’s friend (Miranda?) snitches and Cho defends her friend and her and Harry get into an argument and that’s how things end.

Movie didn't show many important characters like Merope Gaunt(Mother of Voldemort) & her family. Hepzibah Smith and her elf. It also didn't explain why there is a new DADA professor at Hogwarts every year. Actually Voldemort wanted to become DADA professor as it would have been easier for him to recruit death eater at Hogwarts, but he was 1st rejected due to young age, and was told to apply after few years. He applied again after 10 years, then Dumbledore rejected his application. In anger he cursed the position as this position will always be vacant on every new term.

Unlike most werewolves, he's thoroughly embraced the beast within, he kills for sport, he deliberately positions himself near people so when the moon rises, he's in the right position to strike. He especially loves biting children so they'll grow up to hate normal witches and wizards. Greyback is the very werewolf who bit Lupin when he was a boy. Voldemort has threatened to unleash Greyback on the sons and daughters of those who refuse to join him, which has been quite an effective tactic to gain followers.

It isn't made very clear in the movies, but in the books it is explained that the reason that Voldemort went to the Potters to kill him was because of the prophecy that Snape overheard Professor Trelawney make to Dumbledore. It was the prophecy that Harry heard at the end of the last movie, the one that Voldemort manipulated him to the Ministry to retrieve.

The movie kind of leaves Cho and Harry’s relationship off in a weird place. In the book they have a disastrous Valentine’s Day date, and Cho starts to believe Harry and Hermione have something going on. Later, they argue over Cho’s friend Marietta snitching to Umbridge about their DA lessons. Hermione jinxed the sign up paper so Marietta got stuck with pimples that spell “sneak” on her face. Seriously, she’s stuck with it. No one has been able to remove them. Cho thought it was mean and immoral for Hermione to do that, but Harry thought it was funny and that Marietta deserved it. Their relationship kind of fell apart after that. This also isn’t in the movie, but Cho was actually a Seeker on the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team; Harry first developed a crush on her while playing against her in Prisoner of Azkaban. But in Order of the Phoenix, Cho was in danger of being kicked off the team because she was performing poorly following Cedric’s death. Ginny was dating a Ravenclaw named Michael Corner that she met during the Yule Ball. Gryffindor ended up winning at Quidditch against Ravenclaw in Order of the Phoenix, and Ginny broke up with Michael because he was being a sore loser about it. Michael ended up dating Cho, and Ginny started dating Dean Thomas by the time the school year ended.

So I don't know if you've been to the 7th movie and the part 2 yet of the seventh book but I will tell you it was kind of a big shock for us reading when these actually took place it's never directly said in any of the movies or books what year any of this s*** takes place so a lot of people assume it takes place in the time it came out but that's not true the final book is set the year the first one comes out because you find out on Harry's parents Graves that they died the Halloween of 1981 meaning Harry was born in 1980 so the movies and all this s*** takes place in the 90s

They don't really explain why Voldemort went to kill them himself, but it's able to be inferred just from what we know about the phrophecy, and why Voldemort took the actions he did. No spoilers - you _will_ learn a little bit more about the actions Voldemort took after hearing part of the prophecy (being that a boy born at the end of July would rise to be his equal, something they paraphrased in the 5th film) - but I think all you really need to understand about the situation is that it wasn't just some random murder job. It was a prophecy concerning his own life; he would never have trusted anyone but himself to try to resolve it.

Who tells Voldemort, listening to it Voldemort narrows it down to Nevilles parents amd Harrys parents amd so he goes to attack Harry. He also ironically chose a half blood like himself in Harry and not Neville who is pure blood. In the book there is more to the prophecy, something about a boy born end of July to parents who twice defied the dark lord or something like that. Its much better explained in the book.

In The Half Blood Prince book one of many memories that Dumbledore shows Harry was the day Tom Riddle tried to apply for the teaching position of Defense Against the Dark Arts. But when he went to his job interview at Hogwarts Dumbledore was already the Headmaster by this point and Dumbledore denied Tom Riddle the teaching position. So Voldemort cursed the job so that no one will ever be able to hold the job for more than a year. 🏰🪄💀
