If you're going to watch this whole series then let me tell you.. This whole series got matured overtime with it's audience. It's possible you could find first movie and the second one kind of Christmas movies. But things will started to get dark from the third movie. And after that it will only get darker and darker. The UK has a smorgasbord of soft cookies. One of our faves are Jaffa cakes (officially a cake) , a soft sponge base with an orange coating and topped with chocolate. Blue riband , a chocolate coated wafer that is much softer than our kitkat. Another wafer cookie is Tunnocks caramel wafer (wafers layered with soft caramel and covered with chocolate). Also Teacakes, there are plenty of companies do these, but Tunnocks are probably the best ( a soft biscuit base topped with marshmallow and covered in chocolate. The list goes on!

The reason the Dursley's keep Harry is never mentioned in the movies. Only the reason why he has to keep going back to their house every summer. As Dumbledore explains to Harry, so long as his mother's blood is a place where Harry can call home, Voldemort can't get to him. As Petunia is His mother's sister and so long as SHE accepts him in her home Harry is safe. The letter Dumbledore left with Harry explains everything in detail and as she initially accepted him she's magically bound to the terms of the letter.

@@downunderrob Yeah, in the sixth book Dumbledore himself picks up Harry at the Dursley's home and makes a comment saying that they didn't treat Harry like family as he had hoped, but they did spare him the trouble of no treating him as poorly as Dudley. That confuses Vernon as he doesn't understand how anyone could think they've mistreated their own son. Except as you read the books it becomes apparent how poorly they actually did mistreat Dudley.

The weird thing is Vernon seeme by far the most aggressive Harry-hater when he really has no actual reason beyond supporting Petunia. But in the books, he does seem like he is just a complete jerk in every way. But, when Vernon asks Dudley why he, Vernon, loves Sundays, and only Harry even bothers to answer "No post on Sundays", 10:43 Vernon actually praises Harry with "Right you are, Harry". As best I recall, that might be the only time he ever admits Harry was right about anything.😮

That’s the point. This was just before the Internet was really wide spread. So while in Europe Alchemy and the Philosopher’s Stone is at worst vaguely known about by kids, in the US they feared only genuinely serious readers would ever even accidentally stumble across it. Switching the one word safely and organically “oh, kids book” or “magic and fantasy”. That sells (and is seen) by a built it fan base. Now anyone from the age of 7 or 8 can eliminate all guesswork while a 5 second Google 24/7 with the PC in their pocket.

So Fun Fact: the music score for the first three movies was written and composed by John Williams (who is known for Star Wars). It is this reason that the movies use music exceptionally well to help the mood of any given scene.

@@EagleFang74 Yeah, John Williams is one of the very few composers who has emotionally powerful music that's good enough to hold a scene without any kind of dialogue. This is one of the reasons Lucas really enjoys using him. He has a way of making his music "act" when establishing a scene. It conveys just as much as an actor could. Hans Zimmerman comes very close with his " Why So Serious" Joker Theme from dark Knight though. I get chills to this day whenever I hear that cello tuning up. lol. Oh and P.S. Let's not forget about that EPIC 1977 Superman Theme song. One of John Williams' best.

@@patrickcromwell7554 Yes! Superman, Jaws, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones are my personal favorites. Can you imagine any of those franchises without their themes? I think the word “iconic” is overused these days but there really isn’t any better for him and his work. He has literally scored a large part of my childhood. There are some great videos on KZbin of him conducting around the world and the crowds go crazy for him. So heartwarming to see how beloved his is everywhere. Movie composers rarely reach that level of fame.

Ron Weasley is actually the 6th out of 7 Weasley children. Bill Weasley is the first born. He graduated from Hogwarts and works in Egypt as a tomb curse breaker for Gringots Bank. Charlie Weasley also graduated from Hogwarts and works in Romania at a dragon preserve. Percy Weasley is a prefect student at Hogwarts. Fred and George Weasley are the mischievous twins. Ron Weasley is the last male in the family and is a first year Hogwarts student along with Harry and Hermione. Ginny Weasley is the only girl and at this point is only 10 years old. The first, let alone first two movies may seem a bit childish but not only do they get darker and more mature as the movies progress, but what's great about each movie and book is that they each have a mystery to them. Not only that, but as the movies and books continue, the mysteries of each of them begin to come full circle and that to me is what makes the series standout as a whole. Also, I love the casting in these movies, especially with the late, great Alan Rickman as Snape. The great Maggie Smith as McGonagle. The cast choices in these movies are top notch, and watching a lot of these child actors grow with the series is just great.

So one visual aspect about Harry (from the books) is that his normal clothes are ALL Dudley's hand-me-downs. He doesn't own a single piece of clothing that wasn't once Dudley's. Not until he gets his school uniform, and a few spares for casual wear while at school. It's a very small, minor detail, but it does a great job of establishing just how little the Dursley's actually care for him.

We have soft cookies in australia, so assume they do in the uk. But soft cookies are no good for dunking in tea/coffee. Also hard biscuits last a lot longer, so you can put them in a jar and forget about them and come back a month later and they are still perfectly fine.

The book/film is called the Philosopher's Stone literally everywhere but in the US. It was changed by the US publisher, Scholastic, and J.K. Rowling because they thought American children wouldn't want to read a book with "philosopher" in the title, since it commonly refers to a scholar of philosophy rather than an alchemist or a wizard. Rowling has since said that she regrets having granted permission for the title change, but as a new author she wasn't in a strong enough position to fight it at the time (they even asked her to use the initials J.K. instead of her first name Joanne because apparently teenage boys would not want to read a book written by a woman). The Philosopher's Stone is an actual real-life legend; an alchemical substance of legend capable of turning base metals such as mercury into gold or silver. It is also called the elixir of life, used for achieving immortality. Additionally, Nicolas Flamel was a real person, an (alleged) alchemist believed to have created the stone. Fun fact: Each scene where the stone is mentioned in the films had to be shot twice, with "philosopher's" or "sorcerer's". The houses and what they represent: Gryffindor - Bravery, chivalry, honor, helping others, determination, recklessness, self-righteousness, short tempered and a desire to always be the hero. Someone who stands up for the little guy, challenges authority and has a tendency to act first & think later. Hufflepuff - Hard work, patience, loyalty, modesty, dedication, kindness and fairness. Someone who has a strong moral compass, is usually accepting of everyone and rarely starts arguments. (I am a proud Hufflepuff!) Ravenclaw - Intelligence, wisdom, knowledge, creativity, originality and wit. And fun little details is when Neville is holding the remembrall which tells him he's forgotten something, he is not wearing his robes... because he forgot to put them on. When Harry's scar hurts first when he sees Snape, the back of Quirrell's head (Voldemort) is facing him. Snape looks at Quirrell and is obviously suspicious of him.

Well, the names of each house do sound a bit unusual and that's okay. Each house has different but useful traits. Hogwarts House Values Gryffindor Bravery, helping others, and chivalry. House animal: The lion. Hufflepuff Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. House animal: The badger. - They're known to be unassuming yet tough. Ravenclaw Intelligence, knowledge, planning ahead, and wit. House animal: The Eagle - only in the books, the movies used a raven instead. Slytherin Ambition, cunningness, heritage, and resourcefulness. House animal: The serpent.

Interesting question about the pictures. The frames themselves dont move, but the occupants inside can if they want. Since they are magically imbued with a kind of magic that makes them (in a way) alive, they can move in and out of neighboring frames.

2 things from the books I wish were in the movie (yes, there's more than 2)... 1) Fred and George throwing snowballs at the back or Professor Quirrell head. Just love the thought of Voldemort getting struck in the face by snowballs. 2) This movie makes it seem like Lily blocked Harry with her body. Which is great. But in the books you find out she was given the option to live if she just gave Harry up. Her refusal makes her sacrifice and her Love for Harry all the more powerful.

We have soft cookies, and they're called cookies and are about 3 -4 " dia. Tend to eat these when we fancy a little nibble / something to eat. Then we have biscuits that are hard tend to be smaller 2 - 3" diameter. Ten to have these when we are having a cup of tea or coffee.

Yes we do have soft chewy cookies, but they're usually produced in house by bakeries or the bakery section of a supermarket, and specifically labelled as cookies, rather than biscuits.

It was both Verne Troyer and Warwick Davis who played Griphook the goblin. In the first scene it is Warwick in costume as The Goblin Bank Teller. But when he was standing next to Hagrid (Griphook) that is Verne Troyer with Warwick dubbing the lines.

The first time I heard about Harry Potter, It was the 90s in Middle school,... I still remember my English Teacher reading us a chapter, and it was the chapter about how Harry Potter was on the train to Hogwarts for the first time and at 38, I still remember my teacher reading the section about the different tasting jelly beans, and the chocolate frogs....

@@terogates1 Thanks buddy 😊 yeah that's in short is what she did she was trying so hard to be acknowledged as a student and combined with her naturally bossy/leader personality she had no friends to tolerate her so she often felt bad and when Ron said that it upset her so much 💔 but was very grateful for them and wanted them to like her so she tried to take all the blame without telling the teachers she was crying because she's miserable, she'd feel embarrassed and they might alert her parents and she felt scared they would stop her from going to Hogwarts thinking she's been bullied or smth yk
