Harry Potter Chess Sets and How to play Chess

The last chess set, The wizards final challenge edition is awesome…..only draw back is being able to see the board and pieces due to their large size, while playing.

Castles and Priests are not chess pieces. Rooks and Bishops is what they are called. As for the design of the Harry Potter chess sets. I like the medieval design of the 1st and 3rd set. The 2nd one is really awful in my opinion.

I have two Harry Potter sets, both came in collectible magasines every few weeks so took a long time to collect and were expensive. The first one is the proper Wizards Chess, each piece does something; the pawns blow up when taken, the Knights (horses) make neighing sounds and the King or Queen drop their swords. It's very cool. The same company brought out the second set I got but these are just dragons or eggs from the Triwizard Tournament, still nice but nowhere as great as the first. Now I'm getting the pieces by Geek Gear.

The 2nd one is really cool, but confusing, which can be a major problem if your playing with the kind of people that argue over which is black and white on the glass chess set just to try and go first.

I've got the DeAgostini partworks versions of this..and they are much better cause they light up/make sounds AND can be moved across the board using wands..

The first one is made in plastic, the second one is in metal and the third one is made from resin (An inflammable organic polymer substance) like the wands and most replicas.

For God's sake please stop calling them priests & castles!! All of the chess pieces of all the sets were pretty awful, esp. the last one you tried to play with, they're basically so large it's quite impractical to play with them.
