It's because Voldemort recruited from his own house. Most of the Death Eaters were former Slytherins, thus they trained their kids to be the same, or their kids grew up worshiping similar ideals. So you have all these former Slytherins turned Death Eaters who are most likely teaching their Slytherin-sorted kids similar ideals. Voldemort got in early, recruiting impressionable teenagers, or getting to their parents, who were most likely Slytherins and purebloods who'd follow Voldemort's ideas. By the time the First War was over, the kids of the Order, or of people who fought Voldemort and the Death Eaters, taught their kids that all the bad guys came from Slytherin, so it got its reputation. Let's not forget that Merlin, the greatest Wizard ever, was in Slytherin. Horace Slughorn was a Slytherin. And Peter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor.

in other words the idea of slytherins housing death eaters was only a 'recent' thing within the past 20-50 years. After all, 'death eaters' was a title for voldy's followers, and that's just one generation. Slyth house prob wasn't as 'bad' as it were until families started to adopt a superiority identity through voldy's radical ideology of purebloods, however purebloods, akin to hitler superior race theory, has been in existence for a very very long time in the wizarding world, and we see a little bit of this in Fantastic Beasts movie.

Slytherin always got a bad rep for no true reason, there were evil people from the other houses too, freakin Wormtail was Gryffindor and he was the main one that helped bring Voldemort back, he was more loyal to Voldemort than pretty much all the other Death Eaters, plus Snape, who was easily the most selfless and instrumental ally to Harry was Slytherin. Dumbledore was ruthless and would have sacrificed Harry to stop Voldemort in a heartbeat. #proudslytherin

Interesting point about the Chamber of Secrets. Harry would have to teach everyone a bit of parseltongue if he was already in the chamber and someone was running late...plus it would be humourous to see everyone running into the girls toilet. Hell maybe Moaning Myrtle would be some bouncer that dissuades everyone else by flirting with them.

I don't think everyone could have gotten in the chamber of secrets not everyone has parseltounge...plus you have that problem of quickly getting in and out...in isn't a problem but out..it was so far down...the same thing with the secret passage under the trapdoor that used to be guarded by Fluffy in the first movie...a long way down aswell. But yeah rope or a ladder could fix hat problem..so i don't know. Maybee they just didn't think of it.

Not really, because Chamber of Secrets is actually hard to reach, slightly dangerous (cave-in possible) and would mean they have to gather together to enter. The actual plot hole would be why the Diadem was place in the Room of Requirement hiding version instead of the Chamber of Secrets which would be more secure & more significant in Voldemort's mind.

I always assumed the reasons for why they couldn't use the chamber of secrets was because.... 1. Can't pull Harry out of class just to open up the chamber. They have different classes and obligations. Learning magic is okay, but having dozens of students (some male) going into an entrance located in an albeit abandoned girls bathroom is just plain creepy and highly noticeable. Umbridge is watching them, guys O.O 2. It's....it's just evil. It's the place where harry almost died, Ginny almost died and Voldemort came back to life. Harry would not want to train anyone on how to defend against Voldemort in a lair that belonged to him. The only ones that might be comfortable down there are the most evil of Slytherin. And....are any of them part of the army? I know in the movie they weren't, but I forget if any were in the army in the books....I don't think so. 3. ......They pretty much explain this in the last movie and make you just say "ewwwww!!!!!". There is a dead snake down there.....All matter of grossness and cleaning spells aside....I don't want to be trained in a place that had a really big, deadly, paralyzed-students-for-kicks snake in it. Plus, if they did train down there, they would have to clean up the snake carcass. Bye bye plot device for the seventh book. 4. Last one, I think. The entrance to the main chamber was blocked by rocks. I know, they are wizards, but wouldn't it just be easier and less time consuming to have Neville find the room of requirement and just use that? If it wasn't for Cho Chang, they would have been able to use it until the end. Technically, it was Umbridge forcing Cho Chang, but still. Plus, no room of requirement, no hiding the half-blood prince book which means no idea of where the diadem could be for the seventh book. Hello a slightly more powerful Voldemort.

Well...i's sortof like Monica and Chandler. A slight-controll-freakishly clever girl, marrying a simple but lovable idiot. I think as long as Ron avoided becoming lazy (actually taking the garbage outside if she asks) and tried his best to learn and become better at everything gradually. And did not disturb Hermione in any way ánd helped her in household-chores, as I mentioned with the garbagebags. Then they'd have a relationship. But the biggest mistakes would be 1. Hermione becoming his mother, instead of his girlfriend 2. Ron not being willing to help and becoming lazy and bothering Hermione in her life. 3. Ron feeling insulted because he keeps being confronted with how Hermione is 'better than him' and 4. Ron not wanting to learn and not being a good conversationpartner for Hermione. If Ron tried his best to fix áll of those things, they'd be a lovely couple.

Actually, imo, it would work, as you can see in the first film or read from the first book, Ron and Hermione's relationship is different from Harry and Hermione's relationship, Harry and Hermione is just pure friendship whereas Ron and Hermione are always arguing in a couple way, they always had a different connection that isn't just pure friendship, I've been reading book 1 since i was a kid and i know straight away they would eventually ended up together instead of Harry and Hermione. I'd always prefer Ron and Hermione, Harry and Hermione just wouldn't work out.

The order of most “bad wizards” from houses are Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and then Hufflepuff. You must remember that Professor Quirill and Lockhart were Ravenclaws (yes, Lockhart is a bad wizard because he stole people’s memories and tried to erase Harry and Ron’s minds and leave Ginny for dead, people forget about that because him being annoying seems to outshine his crimes) Then Peter Pettigrew was a Gryffindor And Slytherin has good people too (Narcissa Malfoy, Snape, Slughorn, Merlin, Regulas Black, Admodora Tonks, Draco, Astoria Greengrass, Al Potter, and Scorpius) and even some neutral wizards/witches (Blaise, Pansy, etc) Yes, Slytherin has the most “bad” people but that’s mostly because of reputation. And then the good ones are expected to be bad, so they turn bad from pressure (perfect example of this is Draco, who obviously got better at the end)

I perfectly understand that not every bad guy is in Slytherin. Trust me I have a list of reasons to hate all of the houses. But holy crap if cunning and ambition alone isnt a horrible set of qualities for a bunch of teeneagers to be grouped into. I dont hate slytherins just because they are in Slytherin. I hate Slytherins because having ambition outweigh your loyalty and courage means a backstabbing prick in my book. Especially with how the only Slytherin we know that doesnt do everything to save his own skin is Snape. Like damn if the rest of them dont appear to be cowards unless they had the upperhand.

There's no time limit in Quidditch, the books mentioned a match lasting weeks. Catching the snitch ends the game, your team could catch it and still lose.

The golden Snitch, is near impossible to catch, and matches ran looooong. We see only few special matches so it's logical to miss that much. It's a british book, and as Americans it's utterly forgivable that you're unfamiliar with the travesty called a Cricket Test Match - something we across the ocean grew up with, and it used to be like a five day affair.

The reason why so many dark wizards come from Slytherin is because: 1. Most of them are related in some way do to the fact their families follow a fanatical obsession with keeping themselves pure blood, which leads to massive inbreeding (seriously, the black family, the le'estrange family and the Malfoy family are all related to one another by blood, marriage etc.). 2. Slytherin was founded by a wizard supremacist who tried to install magical blood segregation and then after "leaving" the school becasue no one shared in his vision of magical superiority, he left a a giant ass snake behind to help kill the "inferiors", and most of the slytherin students come from families who believe in that same philosophy. 3. There never are shown/written anyone whose good from slytherin, every villain, almsot every bully etc. shown in the books/movies is a slytherin. Seriously even Rowling herself never wrote a single character from slytherin who was worth a damn, in fact the entire slytherin house is kept out of the final battle becasue their loyalties are not trusted, and the fact that the heroes will be fighting and or killing most of their parents.

I'd suggest that to understand Slytherin better we shouldn't think evil, but think racist. (Big iveroap, of course) Slytherin always excluded muggle born and was full of the kids of the great inbred pure blood family lines. (Including Black, which us why it was a family scandal that Sirius became the first in his family to opt out if Slytherin.) JK says that integrating Slytherin was one of Harry's adult causes. Racism was a central message of the two big 20th century evil wizard movements (Valdemort and Grindewald) and dark wizardry was hand in hand with racial purity and Slytherin. When people say there were lots if good Slytherin they are being a bit disingenuous. They do not exactly leap to kind. The best one we can name is Snape who is a very bad person despite his redemption arc. (He fingered the Potter's thinking Voldemort would only kill James... wow.) Draco's redemption is similarly underwhelming given the totality if circumstances. Slughorn is a pretty bad sort if person. Anyway, the nexus of blood purity and evil is a thread throughout the story and it's not surprising the overtly racist house is central to it.
