I think what they could have done was ask a question about the character instead of the character being the answer like “What is Dumbledores favourite bertie botts flavour”

They definitely needed at least one new flavor for every day. I know there are enough jelly bean flavors that there could have been a new one for each day. Also like you said the trivia was definitely spoiled by the answer being right there and some of the doors having the answers.

Doesn't Jelly Belly have 100's of flavors? I feel like at the least, they could have had a different flavor behind each door. Maybe they could have listed the flavors on the back and made matching them up with the candy part of the game.

In this calendar, they probably are - the page for this calendar on the official site lists these flavours: • Banana • Blueberry • Candyfloss • Cherry • Cinnamon • Green Apple • Lemon • Marshmallow • Tutti-Fruitti • Watermelon and that not all calendars will have all the flavours. I really like some of those flavours, but maybe a unique flavour behind each door would be better (I can't stand the Bean-Boozled ones though).

i have jumped on the advent-calander train. i found an advent-calender book about the creatures and being from myth thats connected with christmas and winter. its writen as an beastiary and has survival tips. im really looking forward to it.

The ones where they asked about the traits of the houses were spoiled by the house crests on them. Cherry said that there was no spoilers on them, but missed that they were the house crests on those doors.

the trivia is a little more for kids that got into the Hp fandom or so for fun, for the Jelly beans..if would have loved it if they put diffrent flavours in one color palette like all kind of red, cherry strawberry etc. together so one would have a surprise within each days colored beans

When I saw Peter Kenneth reviewing this, I was doing other stuff and did not realize the characters on the doors already showed the answers on the door. I get them trying to come with themes with each character, but it does treat the customer as stupid, in my opinion. They could add other questions that go with the characters or just change the pictures.

Lovely design for this one, but the trivia is way too easy (and the fact the answers are on the flaps AND just written upside down kind of ruins it for me unfortunately 😅) I also agree that they should have mixed in each bags the good and bad flavours, it would have been way more fun! Anyway, it was nice overall and not too pricey so it's not that bad in the end! Can't believe there's only 2 days of advent left, btw! I'm going to miss this series very much!

As a jelly bean lover, this would be the ideal calendar for me 😂 I dont mind the trivia being a bit obvious with the answers, be harder for younger kids who might not remember the names as well.

Well as it is a Jelly Bean Advent Calendar and not a Berty Bott‘s Beans one, I‘m fine with there not being any funny flavours included but as a Harry Potter Advent Calendar, they definitely missed out on that opportunity! I also would have liked if they had their questions not on the according portraits. Like that they would still have the hints on the calendar but not right in front of you. I enjoyed this Advent Calendar nevertheless.😊👍💖

I have to believe that actual Bertie Botts trademarked beans must be under some kind of special licensing that wasn't available (or was too expensive) for these calendars. The connection between jelly beans and HP is just too obvious - my guess is they created this calendar with sort of 'generic' Jelly Belly flavors to loosely connect the two without having to splurge on the extra licensing.

That wouldn't have been as much of a presentation when you opened it up, but if the doors pulled all the way off and the portraits/picture clues were printed on the back, in the end it would have been a cool 3-D look! Good idea!

It would be nice to see a Honeydukes advent calendar and have it include all the magical sweets from the movie with a bit of HP trivia. They also should hide the answers under a flap so if someone wanted it for themselves the answer wasn’t right there.

You could Mix them all in a jar not a transparent one and then when you eat one you still have a « surprise » of which flavor you’ll get ☺️ and the cherry one will be your « nasty » flavor version as you don’t like them 🤣

well, reminds me on a joke I played on a nephew 15 years ago and no bertie bott available: I slit open a candy box from beneath and smuggling some soup cubes (maggi, nestlé, knorr) inside - of course along with some skincare capsules looking like sweets - the laughter at the party was worth the try :-)

I used to troll my 6th grade class so hard with Bertie Botts bags that were *actually* Bertie Botts. I don't even like jelly beans but I would bring them to school and convince my classmates that I was giving them marshmallow for vomit or apple for bogies (I forget the actual color). And I kept doing it and they kept falling for it. But this calendar was such a miss with the repetition of bean flavors and zero wizarding flavors. There are 20 flavors, and not even all of the weird ones are inherently bad. But even worse, the biggest selling point, as you said, was ruined with already easy questions made easier with spoilers. They could have kept the iconography without making almost every question a character name. For the picture of Fawkes, "Who does Fawkes the phoenix belong to?" For Snape, "What class does Snape teach for the first six years?" Those are still pretty easy without spoilers that pretty much any kid or adult could get if they've seen the movies or read the books. I feel like for such a repetitive and specific calendar, the trivia could have been better for the price since that's the most compelling selling point. They could have also had it in card form within the slots where you can take them out and keep it as a game and have easy and hard qs (and then you wouldn't see the answer so easily either). Then you'd have 48 questions and a full-on mini-game to play for really no additional cost for the company.

I liked this calander, I do agree in they should have a good and "bad" flavours in the bag and showcase all of them, not miss one out entirely. I think it would add more fun, especially if there is multiple people opening it. Winner of trivia gets first choice or something. I do agree with the spoilers, it did make it way to easy. I got 22/24, the ravenclaw learning threw me, I said Wit, wisdom and cleverness. I also got the diadem one wrong because I said Tom Riddling jumping ahead of who took it from Helena 😆 Overall, I think this is a 7/10. Great for a family but some improvements needed, especially with the spoilers.

well if you think about it if you combine the colors the green is obviously Slytherin, yellow is Hufflepuff, blue is of course Ravenclaw and red is Gryffindor so that could have symbolized the house point and Gryffindor wins the house cup again.

Bertie Botts would’ve been perfect. They make jellybeans they could’ve put a different flavor in each day instead of repeating them. Including some Christmas flavors would’ve been nice. They could put the question on the inside of the door and the answer under the jellybeans and yes, lame that they give the answers away.

I had a jelly bean HP calendar last year (no trivia). They had the same flavors and packets. I like cherry but I don’t like cinnamon. I remember that we couldn’t tell a difference between the two. I am guessing some of your cherry ones might be cinnamon.

I don't think the pictures are necessarily spoilers because the answer is the name of the character. So, adult Harry Potter fans would probably know the names but others might not. For instance, I'm a fan but haven't seen the movies lately so I didn't know the Professor Flitwick answer even though his picture was there. Just an alternate thought. Love the videos.
