Here´s what EMG says about the "H" model: The H pickup is EMG's original single-coil pickup design inside a humbucking housing. It debuted in 1974 as the first noiseless single coil pickup, featuring the widest possible frequency response for clarity, and a rich blend of related harmonics. This pickup is an excellent choice for the rhythm guitarist who needs added definition for chording, or for lead work when the bright attack of a single coil pickup is required. I don´t know what pickups were in the guitar when he first got it, but I´m pretty sure it had EMG´s in it when they recorded Kill em All though.

I found this bit of info in a page: “The guitar was completely stock until 1987 when pickups were replaced with EMGs, and Kirk installed the Leo Quan BadAss bridge.”

Yes, they screwed up the pickup position in many. I don't know if all were though.

Definitely they messed up all the pick up on those guitars. There’s another guy on KZbin who is EMGs were mixed up. I thought he used 81 in the bridge and neck position in the early days. I guess that was with the ESP

I really do want a hammett gibson but now people are reselling them a for quite a penny...i have been debating an edwards v guitar and installing emgs in it so it can come close to that gibson v lol

Great vid chaps. A question for Harry ...if you'd be willing to take this one out of storage. Could you tell me what electronics are under the pickguard please. I'm guessing they didn't use EMG's solderless system as this didn't exist when Kirk installed his EMG's. What value are the pots? And you mentioned the knobs arrangement is a little different. Could you tell me how they are set up please? I'm trying to build myself a copy of this guitar and want to get it as close as possible. thanks
