There was less than a second between the ref blowing the foul and Trossard kicking the ball. It's pedantic as hell and it only seems to be Arsenal players that get booked for this. Refs are running games. It's disgusting pundits aren't talking about what a disgrace it is. I highly doubt he done it on purpose.

I’m an Arsenal fan too, i hated seeing Trossard go but I do believe he knew what he was doing. He has a slight glance over his shoulder once the whistle had gone then kicked it. It’s a ridiculous rule & didn’t affect the time in which the free kick could’ve been taken as Bernardo Silva was still rolling around on the floor.

@@garyoneill9863PGMOL said it was for kicking the ball away. I’m still not sure how you all think he knew what he was doing when he didn’t turn around immediately because after the challenge, he booted it straight away and probably did that because the ref blew the whistle with him thinking it was the halftime whistle, but because he had his backed turned whiled kicking the ball away, he wouldn’t of know the whistle was blown for the foul

It would appear he's happy to ruin the game if it favours man city. And it absolutely stinks of corruption. It is the definition of conflict of interest, Oliver literally received a pay check from the city owners.. and it was a big one at that.. 20k for the game.. for reference, premier league referees get 1.5k per match. looking back at the action of trossard, it can be argued that he was in the action of challenging for the ball when the whistle was blown. Some say that you can tell he heard the whistle because he tried to stop the follow through, But in that case it means he was attempting stop himself from performing an automated action, which means it wasnt deliberate. Personally I believe he tried to stop the follow through in order to avoid kicking his opponent. But either way there wasn't enough time between the whistle and his kicking of the ball to be sure that it was deliberate

Well put Harry! Trossard should know better but no consistency exists. The speed of the modern game means that referees must take a moment before issuing a yellow. They should consider the context of a game before acting. Oliver couldn’t wait to get the 2nd yellow out. The impact of going to 10 players is too big for yellows to be thrown around without proper consideration. Look at the first half at sp*rs - yellow cards given for non yellow card offences on both sides. The referees should have a post match press conference to explain their perspective/performance.

How is it a controversial red card? Troussard’s teammate Rice had the same thing happen a few weeks ago. IF you kick the ball away after the whistle has been blown = automatic YC. Troussard was already on a YC when he kicked the ball after being called for a flagrant foul on Silva which is a YC and therefore a RC. Hold your players accountable, stop whining and ffs stop with the excuses!! You don’t hear City crying all over the Internet about the goal Arsenal should never have gotten bc they cheated by moving the free kick ball 10 yards closer do you? I can’t imagine the Arsenal tears if that had happened to you as it would be billed as the biggest scandal in history.

Oh there are. 1. NO ONE IS TALKING about the actual timing of the whistle. Trossard kicks the ball in less than 1 second (reports saying 0.86 SECS) after the whistle is blown. And Oliver determines it's for delaying the restart. Is that enough reaction time? In the frame after the red card, he's clearly gesticulating that he did not hear the whistle? 2. Arsenal were on the offensive in that last period. Is Trossard kicking the ball away or attempting to pass to Martinelli? He’s outside the frame. 3. PLUS on commentary, they had a line through and VAR SAID that the 2nd yellow was for the challenge, and not delaying the restart. That excuse came after from the Premier League Match center. So which is it? If it's a second yellow for the challenge. THEN LETS HAVE THAT CONVERSATION. We need a deeper more honest conversation here. Accounting for all the variables.

Its last seconds before the break and your team is defending. Ball just came to you and naturally u would kick it long and out to safety as you can and his action wasnt after 30 secs when the whole world knew game was stopped. It was literally few secs or even at the time he blew the whistle. Smart thing was to warn trossard. But my guess was Oliver felt he gave arsenal 1st goal to stand after the chaos before. Perhaps he was trying to even things up his way. Like Harry said if he didn’t want to impact the game greatly last season with that potentially leg breaking tackle by kovacic, applying the same rationale he shouldn’t even have done this in this game given the seriousness of offences of the two

First thing out of this boy is about arsenal missing odegaard & some Spanish boy who hasn’t kicked a ball yet. Arsenal fans get over it teams get injuries stop your whinging. City had no KDB and not one person mentions it. And to try and say toward shouldn’t have been sent off are you joking mate he actually belts the ball away. If he hadn’t of done that possibly could have got away with it

Yes but as you need to be reminded city have arguably the best squad depth on this planet through cheating hence the 115 charges, you can’t compare both squads cause city have more than enough proven quality players that can do the job, they had a better starting 11 and still had Foden & Stones on the bench. When it comes Trossard belting it, I have a different opinion as to what happened

I’m coming round to thinking this too. The barge he knew was a foul, so don’t then boot the ball. Stil believe the ref should’ve said look, your lucky. No more or your off!

2 red cards in 2 games for kicking the ball away. Simple as that. If it was 100 grand on the floor,he wouldn't have kicked it away. Learn the rules

@baqir153 arsenal didn't play by the rules anyway. They took the free kick miles away from the original area. So goal shouldn't have stood. Got away with that one. Lucky to get a draw in the end

@@craigmacdonald4600why are you acting like that doesn’t happen in football. They were lucky to get a point because they couldn’t break us! Cry more! Settled for a draw against 10 men at home. Also love how you dismissed when Doku kicked the ball or when Michael Oliver didn’t book szoboszlai the other week or when it happened to Rice but joao pedro got away with it! Bias vision I see

@malakai4896 the ref can't always get everything right. Trust me, I've done refereeing and it's the hardest job ever. Some times you get them some times you don't. But route cause for your sending off was players error and your first goal was a gift. Except it.

@craigmacdonald4600 "blah blah blah, lette software the law, he deserves to have that red card". Next comment "You can't get it right all the time. Sometimes you get it some times you don't" Glad you're not longer a ref with awful takes like that. Michael Oliver is either corruption or incompetent and shouldn't be anywhere near a premier league game
