Harry was it really 6 years ago when i watched all those Bounty rugging videos ! Time flies.
@HarryHoudiniModelsКүн бұрын
Yes it was exactly 6 years ago I bought the kit and started building it after I moved to Brisbane. Had the hull and decks completed when I thought I might start making videos of the scratch work I put into it.

@ back them i just watched on my desk top or the TV. Didn’t even have a youtube account. That came with covid

The one time I have so far rigged a ship was the Airfix 1/500 Victory. I simply used thread and tied it up, but it was quite a challenge. For the rat lines I used the plastic pieces that came with the kit. I don't build ships very often, but if you came up with a similar device for assembling link and length tank tracks, that would certainly interest me!
@HarryHoudiniModelsКүн бұрын
I already have a number of videos on my easy method to do track links. It was the first video that went viral and got me many subs when people tried my method and found it was so easy. As long as you have a metal rule, wide hobby tape, and a slow acting cement like Revell Contacta it won’t cost you a cent. Here are a few of the videos, there are many more from last decade. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2HJfZuwdtidgc0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn69hqSaj8Zgm7c kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnbGk5SQe6x5aZY

I've still got my rigging tool that was included with my Heller ship kit, it was circa 1978 m8

Lucky you… I think I have half a dozen of them from various Heller and Heller/Humbrol or Airfix kits here. Still don’t like them.

Hi Harry, Nice historic of the Houdini industry. I like the latest design with the dead-eyes included, I don't think it's necessary to go to color 3d printing, these can easily be brush painted, it reminds me of La Quinta and Red fox studio who make very nice parts but, yeah, it's cheating. Some work still needs to be hand made, I think. The Bounty is so pretty😍 Thanks for the video and good continuation👋🏻

I think that's cool that you make tools to help modelers - I mean - model ship tools actually made by a ship modeler - who would have thought of that ? ! 🙂 LOL Thanks for posting Harry

Gday Harry. That is a very involved process you've developed to a very fine level. Sure, like any model work its improved very well. I'm very impressed by your dedication to the craft, -well done mate, bonza 👍, lol. Hope Oz day was ok for you there, i know its been very hot etc. We are about to kick off the Luna new year here, -groan !! Lol 😜🤪😝 Chan, 🇰🇷🇦🇺.

Ooh ar', there be dragons there be ! Trouser snakes can be trouble ! I blame the Chinese for these re-runs of new and lunatic year parties. The Koreans at least do celebrate the occasion, the Chinese this year are much subdued by the financial strife from xing ping and company. The other problem here being the sheer number of drunks and fireworks being lit. The smoke, the noise, the mayhem of drunks, then, having to leave work and wrestle with staff as we fight the tv bus steering wheel as the autopilot doesn't work ! 😅🤣😂

Well if they still make you feel happy then keep them. I just got to a point where my kits had been gathering dust for up to a decade and would not likely get built. Better to send them to homes where they will treated as friends

The Bounty looks fantastic, Harry! My Bounty, being a 1st edition Revell kit from the '50s, never came with sails or blocks. I can make my own sails, but do you have any recommendations for blocks? I am soon about to start on my standing rigging then, hopefully, go from there.
@HarryHoudiniModelsКүн бұрын
I made my own sails from a satin pillow case, there was a video on that in the Bounty playlist as well as many videos on how to rig the Bounty. As for blocks. Any wooden ship hobby store, and even a lot of the plastic kit shops, will stock blocks. It is more expensive to buy the little packets from makers like Artisania Latina. Your best value is from a wood ship hobby shop, where they can do a whole package for a reasonable price. Always buy abut 10% more than you need of each size, as you will break some. Hismodel has an online store for them, but they are full on sets and a bit pricey. However they do have some very useful rigging diagrams which can help you work out how much you are prepared to do.
Hey Harry I like your videos and I'm getting artesania latina wooden ship santísima trinidad 1/84

The Rat Harp for making the horizontal ratlines, the Dead Run for aligning the deadeyes with channels so they will be level, plus my generic Dead Bug. Or get the lot for less in a Combo. Just select your ship from the drop down list. Add to Order. Then on Checkout you can set Make and Scale.
