Good old Harry! We can always rely on you for a good giggle on dreary day. We're supposed to be in Summer now and it feels like bloody Autumn. Some Arctic Jetstream hanging over us or something! Mind you, I hate it when it's too hot as well so I can't always win! Keep on keeping on!

Great video I would like to watch from beginning to end but my bladder will not allow. Here in the U.S it is Fathers Day , so Happy F. D. if such applies. Stay away from Rabid Wallabies.

It’s the Drop Bears and Hoop Snakes you really have to be wary of Michael. We have Fathers Day in September down under.

Gosh Harry, I sure hope that is not how we will be getting our model kits in the future. I like having a nicely printed kit box, opening it to see bagged sprue frames, smelling the plastic (and not resin), feeling the instruction sheet or booklet in my hands, the scent of print ink on paper and having my stash of neatly piled up cardboard kit boxes, not assorted resin kit parts kept in re-used food containers marked with a permanent-ink pen. 🤗
@HarryHoudiniModels5 сағат бұрын
I actually don’t print in resin anymore Ronald. Have styrene, but it’s hard to get right on an open printer, need an enclosed one to cook it at hugh temperature. Yes I would also miss the box art and smell of a freshly opened kit box too. But there is a joy in sending a file to the printer then finding something fun materialise magically out of thin air.
@ronaldbyrne332043 минут бұрын
@@HarryHoudiniModels oh wow Harry, I didn’t know 3-D printing in styrene was even possible. That’s good. And I get you on having something you just bought online beaming into existence right in front of you. No need to wait for the postman. 👍🏻😀

Yin and Yang Robert. I had one bad marriage with a horrible divorce… but my other two were not as bad and my second and third separations were easy, I just gave them everything without a fight. Saved a lot of heart ache.

I do model cars, and I don't follow the directions at all. My last build was a 1996 Mustang, and I took apart an A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft model and mashed them together. Now, I have a Mustang with jet engines, missiles, and guns, with a custom interior that includes a navigator's seat in the back (Sideways). That seat has all sorts of electronics, a computer monitor, and an aircraft style yoke to fire the guns and missiles. I'm currently working on a "Nuclear" powered car ('70 Ford Galaxy), with gull wing doors, and lots of other weird stuff. I love your motto of, "Just build it your way", and I do. It makes me happy, which is all that counts. The first thing I did when I opened the box was tear up the directions and throw them away. F**k the haters!!!!

From what I gather, the camouflage on Warspite was a mirror image of the opposite side. Very fortunate. I did the Roma, which was completely different both sides. 30 minutes masking then 1 minute painting, rinse and repeat. Worth it in the end. Great video, Harry. Like most others watching, I built this about 50 years ago.

More masks than Zorro… but worth it in the end.

Oh Harry, you are my Oprah. You're literally what I want to be when I get older (I say 'get older' and not 'grow up' because I don't ever wanna grow up!) You're one of the few that I disable my AdBlocker for before I click on your videos. <3 I wish I was brave (and talented) enough to try a sailing ship like that. I just don't think I'd do it justice yet.

It absolutely serves a purpose, it introduces what history is to people who don't know
@HarryHoudiniModels2 күн бұрын
Only if they want to do the research. However philosophically that study serves no real purpose other than the interest of the researcher. Still, my point is - doing something without purpose means you can relax and enjoy it. No expectations or deadlines, just pure involvement and distraction. And that is a good thing.

Anigrand has this in 1/72 scale (if you want to take out a loan) , Combat models has/had a vacuform also , if you can find one.

I Enjoyed the video Harry - I liked your technique where you used a brush to fill in those small parts of the camo, where masking would be too tricky - always learning something new. One question: How do you scale up a drawing from the instructions provided, so that you have a 1:1 plan which is accurate to print - so the camouflage can be measured accurately?
@HarryHoudiniModels3 күн бұрын
I put the plans in Photoshop. Crop to the bow/stern edges, then scale that cropped image to the width of my model, 321mm for a Warspite in 1/600 scale. Then print the result at that exact size and bingo bongo; to-scale plans I can work from. My other method is find a thing on the plan which I know the size of. Work out a scaling ratio between the plan dimension and the scale size I need. Use that scaling ratio on the overall size of the plan. That should also result in a to-scale drawing I can print.
