Over the past couple of years, I’ve really started to pay more attention to the clothing I’m buying and where I am buying it from. Making better fashion choices has resulted in better quality pieces and being happier with my wardrobe. It’s also saved me money in the long run as my clothing lasts longer, and who doesn’t like saving money? In this video, I wanted to talk you through the things I look out for when I shop for clothing, and hopefully, it can help you make better decisions for yourself and your wardrobe.
Now just to mention, I’m not perfect when it comes to buying clothing, I still sometimes make mistakes but I’ve learned a lot over the last few years and that’s what I’m going to share with you today!

I think I’m at the point where most of my wardrobe consists of used items. I find I have more luck with overcoats / tailoring than with casual items. I guess people just wear casual clothes harder so it’s more difficult to find good condition items in stores. I think you made a great point on sales. I find myself more keen to pay full retail for an item I really like when I do buy brand new, because I know I’m getting something that will last. I think chasing bargains can easily lead to buying items you’re leas than thrilled with. Great video!

Been enjoying your content. I really like your humble opinion and also respect what other people like. Over the years i was very biased and opinionated. As im hitting close to my 40s, i realise it doesnt matter. As long as that person is happy with what theyre wearing. Its ok to have an opinion but best to just keep it to ourselves. Over the years ive learned to like things to be timeless. I have capsule wardrobe or an interchangeable wardrobe. Over the years the brands i wear and buy have also been rotating and changing. Just like in your videos, there were styles or brands i liked and later own got bored out of them or grew out of them.

I think the whole "if its more costly it will last longer" is true to a certain extent. I've had 60$ jeans that last a long time and pairs that last only a few months before the hardware gives out. For me, its more about the brand rather than the price point. There is still good quality cheap clothing, as well as poorly made spendy clothing. 9/10, you do notice a quality increase with price though. My 160$ stussy jeans are much higher quality than fast fashion jeans. It only took several wears before some of the stitching would come undone on the generic stuff.

I was inspired a bit by Frugal Aesthetics to incorporate some primary and secondary colors in my wardrobe. I love neutral colors and I feel they are fail proof choices. But, I wish you could make a video on how to incorporate those colors without coming out as too bold and may make me stand out. I like it low key, but a dash of some colors will be exciting. I wanted to add Orange, Yellow, Green and Red in my wardrobe without being too weird. I hope you get my point. Thanks 👍 Loved this video.

why are you so infatuated with not standing out? most people's outfits are conceptually weak from my personal experience. wear colors that you think are visually appealing. let me put it this way: whenever the outfit you put together makes sense from a color theory perspective and you love the way it looks, you would have to be a fucking fool not to wear it . I know frugal mentioned green and brown as nice earth tones which would probably incorporate into your neutral wardrobe easily so heres another free tip: try an aqua colored top and sand colored khaki pants. you could even incorporate a bit of salmon pink or coral red to invoke the ocean even harder

@@ringotheflamingo6900 Thanks a lot for your valuable insight. I feel Harry Has is more into neutral colors and he won't make any videos on adding colors till he doesn't feel the need to change. You are right! I maybe my infatuation with neutral colors, but every phase in our lives has a shelf life. Somewhere down the lane one will change his mindset and add colors in his wardrobe. It all depends on phases of our life. There was a time I was wearing only black and white for over 2 years until I got bored. I will go by the tips mentioned by Frugal Aesthetics. I will experiment and add these primary and secondary colors in a subtle way like adding a cap, beanie, hoodie or jacket. And then will incorporate it in a big way.

great vid harry! I started using goodonyou frequently a couple of weeks ago; you are the only fashion youtuber I have seen recommend it. I think its important that people in your position do what they can to better the viewer's shopping habits and I hope I see more ethical&sustainable brand reviews and recommendations from you in the future! I have recently been considering clothes from Everlane, RicherPoorer, Kotn, Pact, and ArmedAngels. the thing I hate is they all specialize in neutral colors, I wish I knew where to get more Golf Wang style colorful ethical clothes.
@HarryHas
@HarryHas 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I suppose the thing is, most brands who are trying to be more sustainable are producing more neutrals because they are timeless. The more fashion forward or on trend the clothing, the more likely people will get bored of it and replace it or the brand will need to keep up with the next trend and ditch their old stock. This goes against sustainability so that’s why they produce less and keep it simple. It’s unfortunate for people who want more than basics, like yourself, but just the way it is unfortunately. Luckily for me, I love neutrals most so there is plenty for me to choose from. ArmedAngels reached out to me on Instagram to send over some stuff and I would be interested to see what they are like. I like the look of Kotn and have talked about them in a previous video. Everlane I find a bit boring these days and pretty pricey for what it is but I’ll try and put together a video of my favourite sustainable brands in the near future.

@@HarryHas thanks for the thoughtful reply. I understand why some people think neutral colors are timeless however I would counter that color theory never changes. A blue jacket with a yellow shirt underneath looks good now and will be just as visually striking when I breathe my last breath. I look forward to your future videos even though our styles are pretty different. the only thing I really want from Everlane is their Everyone relaxed hemp tee as an alternative to the well loved Airism oversized tee though looking into Everlane prompted by 2:29 has made me hesitant, after all more than two people have probably figured out how to do a drop shoulder overszied crewneck
@HarryHas

@@ringotheflamingo6900 completely agree with you if that’s what you like to wear. I have spoken about bold primary colours in previous videos too and how they are timeless if that’s your style. It was more the comment about the Golf Wang style I was going on. It’s a great style and probably has a place for a long long time but I can see why a lot of sustainable brands don’t go there. For me, the Airism tee is not the one. Not a fan of the oversized tee. Prefer relaxed. Everlane do have a decent relaxed tee from what I have seen but never tried it myself.

@HarryHas
@HarryHas 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I do. I try and do my best when it comes to shopping ethically and I always look into every new brand I buy from. I haven’t bought from Dr Martens in over a year and I had no idea. The boots I own are from Viron and they are a very ethical brand. I have talked about Uniqlo not being ethical in other videos. They are definitely not the worst but they are too shady for my liking. I turned down work with them recently.
