What are all the bird locations? Moth mission for example doesn't show on the map but I can access to it from The Blooming right before going into the cave from the cyst mission Slayer. I need the others rn

Ok so the birds are pretty much close to another in group of 2. Every cyst mission displayed on the map should have another bird pretty close, just like Searing Light and Slayer are close. The missions only display on the map when you have accepted them from the bird again.

You have to do the alone in the dark quests. They eventually allow you to switch between the 2 cysts in each location. I was confused up until that point myself

Ok, I know why people are having issues, or at least why some people are having issues. So when I did the first part of "Alone in the Dark" I jumped into a matchmade Overthrow activity in The Landing to get the chests stage done quickly. After the activity finished instead of going to the Sword Dance cyst like I was supposed to, I followed one of the other guys in my fireteam into the Moth Cave cyst. Despite this not being the "correct" cyst, completing it advanced the quest steps for Alone in the Dark & activated the Moth cave as a repeatable activity for me but now I'm at the stage of Alone in the Dark where I SHOULD be doing the Moth Cave & of course it's telling me to do it again. In short, I am unable to access the Sword Dance cyst at all because I did not access it when I was supposed to. While this will not be exactly the same for everybody, the root cause of the issue seems to be doing the wrong cyst & it still advancing the Alone in the Dark quest. I believe one possible workaround will be to join the fireteam of someone who has already completed Sword Dance & go through the cyst with them. This should theoretically work with any cyst that people are missing. Will report back once I get someone to help me.

If it might help to those like ne that did the missions before looking for the keys: find the bird thats not moving (typically in the direction of the one you're missing) and you can change to that mission.

Thought I had the same problem today, there's two in the same area which was confusing me, 'Searing Light' and Slayer. I picked up the Searing Light one and missed Slayer because the area looked the same so I thought I already did it. They need to put a tracker on this to show which ones are missing. Having to rerun the missions trying to find the missing piece is really annoying

If you dont see the other bird, then you are currently binded to that cyst and therefor dont need to switch. For example, the reason you dont see the smothering darkness bird is because you are already binded to it. If you switch to the aerial ace bird, the smothering darkness bird should appear. Each cyst has two birds, and only one will be active at a time. Which ever bird is not there is the cyst you are binded too currently.

You dont actually need to complete every alone in the dark to unlock the cysts. Ive only done 3 for Micah. But you can go back to the start of each cyst, and interact with the light bird. It will swap active cysts

done the quest 7 times, smothering darkness still isnt available. there is no bird to swap to it either.

If smothering darkness is not available for you in the impasse and the bird isn't available for you infront of of the large temple gate at the far right of the Impasse and you are not holding onto an Alone in the Dark Quest. This means you have one in progress somewhere. Check your Quests tab under the final shape and track the quest to point you to the correct Cyst/Alone in the Dark quest step you need to finish. If you are not holding one, head to the tower. To the left of the Postmaster kiosk is a Quest Archive Kiosk, head there and under the Campaign tab you should see an Alone in the Dark Quest in progress (if you do not see it now there is likely a different problem and you'll want to head to the locations for the cysts marked on the map and start and finish the encounters from left to right on the map this should unbug them). Finish the in progress or abandoned Alone in the Dark quest you just picked up from the Quest Archive in the tower then return to the lost city, commune with the blue light in front of the Micah-10 vendor and then claim your reward for the Micah Vendor. Do not do anything else. Now exit the Micah-10 vendor and enter it once more. This will give you an Alone in the Dark completion status when you Hover over the newly available Alone in the Dark quest. Do not pick it up. Head to the Impasse and go to the temple gate and look out for the bird. This time the bird should be available and you should be able to activate the Smothering Darkness Cyst. If none of this helps, then you're likely experiencing another unreported bug and you'll want to report the issue to the Bungie forums for further assistance. Good luck!

Are these missions replayable? I think I did one or two but didn’t realize the bits were in them…. Edit: what you have to do is all the micah quests, then go back to those areas (there’s waypoints for each) and follow the guides then. This quest even with guidance is such a pain to get through.

@@TrueArt_1What I did is if you just want the bits for Khvostov, delete the quest and go to the area where the birds usually start to take you to the cyst. Without the quest in your inventory, it will allow you to choose from either bird depending on your location. Hope this helps you cause I wasted a few hours cause of a strange glitch that happened

The bird is on the lip of the balcony of structure you have to jump to, not marked by the waypoint when tracking the cyst, verrrrry easy to miss as I have done 3 times 😅

Complete the Alone in the Dark you have in your inventory, whichever one it may be, and then the bird will show up again.

Look in the tower, more specifically in the "lost adventures" kiosk, search in "campaign" and you might have a quest called "alone in the darkness" or something like that, that is the cyst that you have to do in order to unlock the encryption bird

Some don't show up on the map, but if you completed it then the bird will still be there and you have to go to that bird to activate the cyst. The slayer one for example is the same bird as searing light. Go to where the bird is in blooming and switch the mission to slayer. It's very weird how they did it

You may need to go to Micah and do all of her quests, or complete the cysts and missions as they appear until it pops up.

If you’ve completed it six times you’ll have all the cysts unlocked. Just toggle the birds to get either the normal/flipped version of each and collect the emulation bit from each one
