One point not to miss there is that Lily only even had the option for the loving sacrifice because of Snape. He had asked Voldemort to spare her and only for that reason Voldemort asked her to „step aside“. There is no reason to asume that he would have offered the same courtesy to Alice Longbottom, he most likely would have just killed them both off as he did with James. And as just killing somebody off without an escape offering does not lead to the protection he most likely also would just have killed off Neville.

huge point, but that simplifies down to the reason the prophecy was belted out of trelawney when it did (within snape's ear/eyesight) was truly what sealed Harry's fate vs neville.

I believe that both boys were simultaneously the Chosen Ones, just that Harry was literally marked by Voldemort

Agreed they both played a role as the chosen one!❤

I disagree because Harry was literally chosen. Not by "fate/destiny/God/whatever", but by Voldemort himself. Harry was "the chosen" one in a way that no other of the countless stories to use the trope went with.

🪄🔮👍 Neville was a late bloomer, but I think that he was pre-ordained to have a significant role in the struggle against The Dark Lord. Being underestimated by his foes ended up being a sort of advantage for Neville. While everyone was running about trying to deal with things that they thought were more urgent, Neville was left alone enough to be able to kill Nagini and enable Harry to finally defeat The Dark Lord.

Two things . 1, Harry's scar is the shape it is because of the wand movement to cast the killing curse. 2, I don't think the sacrifice would have been possible for Neville's parents because Snape would not have asked for her to he spared so she wouldn't have had the choice to live and chose to die which is what enabled the magical protection.

Imagine Neville being the chosen one. Would he had been able to play Quidditch though?

I tried to listen to this on Spotify... For some reason the sound in so low, has to turn the volume higher than usual.

I think one thing this video misses is that if Voldemort chose Neville, then Harry's parents would likely have been the ones tortured to insanity, so he'd still go to his Aunt and Uncle's house, as they would still be his only blood relatives. They'd likely still try to hide his wizarding heritage from him, and when he did finally find out, I can imagine him being pretty pissed to find out his parents weren't dead (like I'd assume Vernon and Petunia would tell him), but absolutely mad. I could almost see this causing him to go down a dark path himself.

I believe he would have went to live with his godfather instead. Sirius would not have gone after Pettigrew since there was no betrayal, so he wouldn't go to Azkaban
@AustynSN4 ай бұрын
@@ashleyflowers7308 Or... In that scenario, Peter is part of the crew that tortures the Potters into Insanity, and Sirius is still framed for it by Peter, and goes to Azkaban for both that and murdering Peter. (Which in this timeline, perhaps he actually did, but with some justification.)

frank and Alice would probably have Dumbledore as their secret keeper … so would have remained safely at home.. perhaps it was because of Pettigrew’s betrayal that the Potters were chosen, as there was no way to access the Longbottoms home
