Molly: he was such a handsome boy.... and he was going to be married... Fleur: And what do you mean by that? What do you mean he was "Going" to be married? Molly: Well, only that- Fleur: You think bill will not wish to marry me anymore? You think because of these bites he will not love me? Molly: No, that's not what I- Fleur: Because he WILL! It will take more than a werewolf to stop bill from loving me. Molly: well, yes, I-I'm sure. but I thought, perhaps, given how he- Fleur: You thought I would not wish to marry HIM ? Or perhaps you HOPED! What do I care how he looks? I am good looking enough for both of us, I think. All these scars show is that my husband is *BRAVE* . And I shall do ZAT! (she then took the ointment from Mrs.Weasley and began applying it to bill's wounds) Fleur had so much more character in the books than in the movies. Fleur was Rouler ou mourir.

The bit with Mollys boggart always gets me. Especially in light of what happens later. Even in her worst fears/nightmares, she didn't see the twins separated. At least when she saw them dead they were together. So it just makes Fred's death even sadder

Regarding Pettigrew's death, if you recall back to when Voldemort had given him his silver hand, he said the following after: "May your loyalty never again waver, Wormtail." That wasn't Voldemort praising Pettigrew for returning to him and serving him faithfully: that was a threat, a warning should he ever stumble in his service again.

Considering. That 'Grimlin's' and 'Indiana Jones and The Tmple of Doom' movie are both true examples of PG-13( though both were rated PG uponrelease), even if they'd kept these dark moments in the movies. They still would've had a PG-13 rating. The Harry Potter books matured with the audience. But the filmmakers apparently still wanted to ensure that kids who were at the age range for the first book could still watch the last movie. That's what I think for the reasons that they kept some of this stuff out anyway.

But even if their masters are terrible, some of them cannot even live with themselves. Unless they're employed like that. She wants to free them from what she perceives as suffering but they don't see it that way to a lot of them. She's trying to take away their reason for living and their happiness Dobby is an oddball and generally enjoys his freedom and didn't like working as a servant Whereas winky didn't get a choice and was fired and is barely able to operate on any kind of normal level

This is brilliant! To me, most of what Harry learns through memories in the pensieve about Voldemort, was really dark. Including the whole thing about the Gaunt family and awful treatment of Merope. Although, I don't think that Harry realising how to use an unforgivable curse meant that he had turned dark, because even the best and nicest people in the world have some tendancy towards destructiveness. The trick is in mastery of it, which Harry was beginning to learn.

•Neville’s mum passing secret info to Neville via the chewing gum wrappers. Does Neville’s mum chew gum while in the hospital? •Plot hole? The Crouch Kaban swap. 1)Did Mrs. Crouch die before the polyjuice prion wore off or did she die looking like her son? 2)Did Barty Sr continue to give Mrs Crouch polyjuice potion every time he visited her or did she have a lifetime supply? 3)What would happen if the polyjuice potion wore off? Would the whole Crouch family been put in Azkaban? 4)How did they pull off the swap without getting caught? I know they probably used the invisibility cloak. But wouldn’t visitors to Azkaban have leave their personal items with the guards of Azkaban before entering Azkaban? Or are visitors allowed to bring anything into Azkaban. Especially with Government privilege? 5)Why was Mr and Mrs Crouch allowed to visit Crouch jr in Azkaban? Government privilege? 6)Did Mr Crouch use Government privilege to get him and his sick wife into Abakan. Plus smuggle in the polyjuice potion and invisibility cloak? Why was Mrs. Crouch allowed in when she was ill? Government privilege? Or the guards of Azkaban don’t care if the prisoners get sick?

If they do the TV version right, they'll make them hour-long episodes and twelve episode seasons, with each season covering a book. That should be more than enough time to properly cover everything. And if they are **really** thinking ahead, each season will be filmed over the course of a school year, and released over the summer, to properly maintain actor age continuity, and also make sure the scores of child actors they'll be working with are bringing their A game, instead of trying to rush them through filming.

Still. Putting someone in a broken magical object not knowing what the consequence will be, to me, seems more problematic than putting someone into a working or broken magical object knowing exactly what the consequence will be. Also, "not intending to” gets you far but rarely absolves you complete from a crime. "I did not intend for him to die in a car crash when forcing him to drive a broken car" really wouldn't hold up.

@@ruud9761 it wasn’t the nicest thing to do, but it was a bit of self defense, especially when you remember all the evil tortures Umbridge used on students. Fred and George had already been hit with her cruelty, so I can say I blame them all that much. Shove an evil bully into a broke object to prevent yourself for getting some unknown evil punishment. If someone attacks you, you have the right to defend yourself. Umbridge was looking for any excuse to attack Harry and his friends.

When Harry used the cruciatus curse, it was when the Carrows' went to attack McGonagall. I think that really made an affect on Harry - it's not a darker trait per se, but more from protecting a maternal figure who has protected Harry for many years. The enjoyment of doing it, like with Bellatrix, is what makes it dark. There is an element of human Psyche that they do things that are perceived dark out of love or protection of a person or thing. I mean, who hasn't thought 'I'd kill anyone who'd hurt my mum/child/beloved pet'?

My father has shared stories of his bloodied knuckles from the nuns at the Catholic school. Smacking yardsticks across them when you won't pay attention in class So hearing this kind of thing happened at Hogwarts. Not super surprising since it happened in the real world

Doesn't anyone listen to Hermione when she talks about "Hogwarts: A history"? It's impossible to apparate or diapparate within the castle and grounds of Hogwarts school. Therefore Montague could not have disapparated from the vanishing cabinet and apparated into the sewers of Hogwarts School. It was an inconsistency in writing on Rowling's part. Like when she refers to Myrtle's 'U bend' one year and as an 'S bend' in another.

the even darkest parts is that Greyback was gaycoded, so he being a predator, specially for children, is even more disturbing and hurtfull. also the fact that the werewolf virus was based on HIV, something that JKR has comfirmed herself. the fact that the Deadthly Hollows`s simbol was the wizarding world`s zwastika; that was the reason Krumb lashed out on Mr Lovegood at BIll and Fleur`s wedding. and then complitly brushed off when Dumbledore made Harry choose between becomin a thyrant worse than Voldemort or keep the status quo. the fact that nothing changed after Voldemort`s defeat. everything went to normal, just with out the potential treath of an evil uprising. there still exist class divide, house elves`s slavery and goverment corruption. the crimes of the elite deatheaters were unpunished. there were little to no consequences for the Malfoy family, at all.

Yeah, that in the end not much changed is one of the darkest and more realistic parts of the story. I like happy endings as much as anyone else but oftentimes it seems contrived that every injustice is resolved and from now on there is no more discrimination, hatred and corruption in the world. That is not how societies work. If for example the house elves were a big player in voldemorts defeat and tried to leverage this earned respect and goodwill to better their position it could be possible that for example their situation would have changed. Is that in line with what we know what the house elves would most likely do in such an scenario? Definitely not. It is also quite likely that Voldemorts second rise to power even worsened the racism against Werewolves and giants for example since again, some of them fought for the dark lord. It wouldn‘t be realistic that suddenly all the racism vanished and would in my opinion even disregard the actual hard fights activists and human rights movements endured in our world, which makes it shallow at best. As a side note: the werewolf curse in Harry potter is really not different in what it does to what you would expect from 99% of fantasy novels. I do not think that it is wise to throw all forms of infectious curses or infectious evil entities under the „This is an HIV allegory and therefore problematic“ bus. This lashing out just provokes simple fans of the genre to see themselves or things they love as under attack.

Yeah... Grayback and the werewolves are absolutely gay coded. And I'm pretty sure back in the 70's "werewolf" was a anti gay slur used to describe POS men. Fun fact Rita Skeeter was also supposed to be an aligory for Transgender people

I definitely dont agree Fred and George locking him in the vanishing cabinet amounted to torture. I notice that when the "good guys" do something harsh but justified the general public comes down extremely hard on the character. When Dumbledore "requires" Snape's allegiance to protect Lily with the Fidelius Charm, people call Dumbledore manipulative. It's actually striking

Greyback was not a DE! What are you talking about?! But I do agree he is a savage. He is far worse villain than Tom himself. I can understand why Barty Jr. hated his father. His father literally mentally abused him he was so evil. He got the ending he deserved. It made sense to cut Bertha Jorkins out. The only thing they needed to do is to say what happened to her in details and that's it. Overall cutting most of these moments was a severe crime against the books. I hope that the show will fix it.

It really speaks to how loving Molly is that her greatest fear is the death of her family. Most people who face a Boggart in the Harry Potter series has it take on a fear that affects only them. Ron's afraid of spiders, Neville's afraid of Snape, Lupin's afraid of the full moon (one could argue that Lupin was afraid of what he'd do as a werewolf, but in that instance, I would think the Boggart would take on his werewolf appearance) and Harry's afraid of fear itself (the loss of his courage). Molly's fear, on the other hand, was for the sake of others. Also, Molly's fears create a feeling of despair rather than terror. She doesn't flee or cower. She succumbs to hopelessness. It was a really tragic and sad moment in the books.

Heh... I misunderstood the Pettigrew's death while reading the books. I was left with the impression that his hand turned on him, because Harry had saved his life, and now he was trying to kill Harry. But instead, it was turning on him, because he HESITATED to kill Harry (because of the debt)?

Crouch Sr didn’t really suspect Winky had anything to do with the Dark Mark..he fired her because his son escaped while she was watching him. They didn’t do Crouch Jr any justice..in the book, he was brought to trial with Bellatrix and was a 19-yr old sandy blond kid, pleading with his parents that he was innocent and begging his mother for help and Sr turned a cold heart and said ‘You’re no son of mine’ and sent him to Azkaban..you didn’t really know if he was innocent or playing it until the end

Lets see the cabinet. if i remember correctly the cabinet was broken afther the twins pushed him inside by the poltergist droping it (headless nick convinced him to do it and the reason why nick did it was to distract ubridge and the cartaker because she was attempting to use the truth serum on him, this was not known but nick knew harry had not done anything and wanted to get him out of that room and was probably aware what she had been doing while dumbledoor was stil at the school and was afraid what she might do to harry with dumbldedoor no longer at the school. the inquisitor thingy was revealed the morning or later in the day the day afther dumbledoor was forced to leave the school and the twins said they pushed the guy inside and the cabinet would have been destroyed afther that unless i remember wrongly.

It's been years since I've read the books, so I'm rereading them on Chamber of Secrets. But the fact that they changed Harry's character so much makes me mad, as a writer. I wonder how JKR felt. Because Harry seems so human. I get he's supposed to be the MC and light of the world in midst of darkness yada yada, but they took away that he's so human, to be able to be angry, he should be frustrated and angry, he had his childhood taken from him and his parents and the godfather. I'd be pissed at the world too!
