The term squib is when a bullet gets stuck in the barrel after being shot causing a obstruction
@Kcwomack6 күн бұрын
You beat me to it, but actually, a 'squib' is a currently used word that refers to a firearm round of unexpectedly low power that may or may not cause the projectile, or "bullet", to get stuck in the barrel. Or you could say that it is something which is a disappointment or a problem. 🤓

They're also the primers in chaff/flare countermeasures for aircraft, as well as the little explosives used to make bullet hits in films!

Squib is still used as an English term for a round that falis to leave the barrel due to low pressure in the round, i.e. not enough gunpowder.

11:30 is not correct. Daniel didnt have a "chance incounter" The production couldnt find a an actor to play Harry and Chris Columbus said "I have seen this movie "David Copperfield" and i want that kid". Unfortunatly Daniels father didnt want his son to do any more acting. So the team decided to to meet them in a public place, to offer the role. Columbus said that himself. As for the Millenium bridge, the movies are set in a different timeline. Whenevever you see a Daily Prophet in the first film, it reads 2001. So the films are set 10 years after the books. ....Why? only god knows why

In modern terms a squib is a firearm cartridge that fails to fully function. Often only the primer fires and blocks the barrel with the bullet that didn't have enough speed to exit. This presents a disastrous scenario if another bullet is fired behind it.

The "raising Harry like a pig for slaughter" is taken out of context. It wasn't one of Dumbledore's terrible things, as prescribed in this video. Dumbledore was clever enough to know that Voldemort had to kill Harry (To demolish the horcrux inside him). Dumbledore knew that Harry will not die. The movie portrays this scene in a very poor light, whereas the book explained it clearly that dumbledore wasn't terrible but was smart enough to know what the outcome would be.

I'm surprised you glossed right past the old pair of Uncle Vernon's socks given to Harry as a gift, presumably chosen by Aunt Petunia. What did Dumbledore see in the Mirror of Erised? He saw himself holding a pair of woolen socks. What clothing freed Dobby? Socks. What do socks symbolize in literature? Family. If Petunia chose to give Harry socks, was she saying she accepts him as family? Did Dumbledore, just as Harry did, see himself with his family in the Mirror of Erised? Harry figured this out before the end of the saga.

I lost track of the "fact number" that was "the school motto... was actually practical," but the thing about "many schools did that?" I have another example: at least in MG/YA fiction, HP isn't the only magical school that does this! Take, for example, the Mystwick School of Musicraft saga (1 novella as an Audible exclusive, 2 full novels in print and a third still on Audible only, but I digress) where the motto is (and I'll leave it in original form) "Audientibus musicam adest." Still practical! Fact 2 I knew: I knew Wormtail was too, and I think it's mentioned on Pottermore (Wizarding World- but I'm still going to call it Pottermore) that Flitwick was as well! In the 1991 sorting, I think the closest Hogwarts had was Hermione. (4 mins is canon) Fact 10 was probably on purpose. Fact 11: hilarious (especially Ron!) Knew fact 12: just from _Mandragora_ I figured so because I knew those were "a thing." Fact 14: I imagine the following exchange happening when she arrives: JKR: *holds up the bag* Flight attendant: "Why are you showing me this?" "Question- can I take this? [points at house names]" *flight attendant squints* "What’s that?" "Oh- notes for a book I'm writing. Don't want to forget them!" "By all means, then! Unorthodox, but it's fine!" For fact 16, I had assumed the owl playing the part was the same throughout each movie, but (since she's not in DH2) only one movie each! Fact 18: I wonder if the Leavesden set was like that on purpose! I knew fact 22- don't remember where she says "I did that on purpose," but she does. Fact 30 (? The MoM phone code one) I knew- maybe from Pottermore, as it was known at the time.

@@justinernest2363 "a teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin" Sallow means pale or a tinge of yellow. So no it doesn't state his race, but a guy with "sallow skin" born in an industrial northern town in the early 70s we can hazard a guess can't we

Alan Rickman didn’t look at all how Snape was described in the books, and was also like 20 years older than the character should have been, so honestly who cares? Anyway, “wizard” is the race in the series, and what matters in that world is blood status. I feel certain he’ll still be a half blood Prince.

I think the only difference with April Fools between UK and US is that we (UK) can only do pranks before 12pm and, I think, the US do them the whole day? If we do pranks after midday it's bad luck, same as with "pinch, punch, first of the month". Can only do that before midday too.

I mean, in some ways, you could argue that Lord of the Rings is the predecessor to all modern fantasy, but only if you choose the definition of predecessor that means follower, not replacement. But Harry Potter isn't the most obviously inspired such work.
