I understand why JK decided not to give Dudley’s children magic but at the same time I really wish she did. Magic in Harry Potter inspires hope, change, and so much more and having Dudley’s kids be magical would allow them to bond and be more than cordial and this way Harry would have a relationship with his wife’s family and his own
@VTdarkangel
@VTdarkangel Жыл бұрын
While I understand Rowling's reasoning as well, I think Dudley having a magical child would've made for an interesting family dynamic where Dudley now has to learn about and engage with Harry's world. It wiuld also require Harry to learn to put away past grievances to help Dudley with his child. This could have been a powerful element in character development for both characters, especially if one of Harry's children had been a squib along side Dudley's magical child. That being said, as I type this, I also realize that this would likely have been a whole book unto itself and would probably have been outside of the scope of the story Rowling wanted to tell.

I think it’s better her way . If Dudley had powers there would be no crule parents they would understand Harry and it just wouldn’t make sense why Harry loves hog warts so much and calls it home. If the parents like him and understood magic he may not care for hogwarts as much
@VTdarkangel
@VTdarkangel Жыл бұрын
@@ryanmoore3369 the question was never if Dudley was magical. It was of one or all of his children was magical. This would've maintained the overall parental dynamic of the story, but would've added an ironic complication at the end.

Yea this is a pretty interesting topic in the books. I think the moral of the story is to treat others ethically regardless of who they are. There are many people in the world who have no self worth and go out of their way to encourage others to abuse them. I think its important to treat all people equally regardless of station. So for house elves (not including the unique situation with creature), you could let one live with you and clean your house if they wanted to, but the elf must be told that they are free to leave whenever they choose with no repercussions or shame. And if the elf chooses to live with your family, make them feel included and respected in the home :)

As each of the last three novels was being prepped for release, I read and received different rumors about certain characters. I seem to recall reading that Remus Lupin was going to overcome being a werewolf and become the permanent defense teacher at Hogwarts school. After the series was finished, I recall reading about how J. K. Rowling eliminated his character at the end to make up for having spared the life of Arthur Weasley, something which was really not necessary. I would’ve preferred if she had kept Remus alive, along with Nymphadora Tonks, and allowed for him to become the permanent defense teacher at Hogwarts. Then, the son they had just had wouldn’t be an orphan.
@dannylagangonzalez6832
@dannylagangonzalez6832 Жыл бұрын
I can understand this, however I also like how all the Marauders would eventually be re-united in death, and I can imagine them back together again in the afterlife, young and happy at Hogwarts once more. There's a fanfiction story I read which shows what each dead character chose to do when they died, some moving on into permanent darkness, and others choosing the afterlife, and the afterlife was a version of Hogwarts which also had a room where the dead could continue to view the world of the living from above. James, Sirius and Peter chose the afterlife, and when Peter arrived, he would at first be chased aggressively by James and Sirius, and once cornered, he would be forced to explain why he betrayed them, and eventually convinces James to forgive him. They along with Lily then watch Harry defeat Voldemort, and exist happily again after that, with Remus presumably joining them at some point.

I think it would've been interesting if 1 of Dudley's kids was magical & 1 not. A new generation in the family with the same challenge. But Dudley, knowing how his mom's jealousy caused such a bad break with her sister, would seek Harry's advice to break the cycle & keep his kids from going down the path from jealousy to hate. The cousins would talk more & eventually really understand each other better. Forgive the past, but not forget. Instead talk honestly with all the kids about the past, the lessons they learned & how what's important is that they're family, regardless of which members have magic & which don't. Support each other with love & understanding instead of tearing each other down with jealousy. After all, being a good person is what's most important & you don't have to have magic to do great things in the world. Even among muggles, siblings often inherit different abilities & temperaments, so it's a waste of time & energy being jealous. It's not a competition.

I think that she should have at least considered a different option for a few reasons. 1. A cup can represent wealth and prosperity, which seems more akin to the ambition of Slytherin than the hard-working nature of Hufflepuff. 2. A cauldron represents a strong affinity with magic but does not necessarily indicate one’s hard work. 3. Whether the object be portable or not, it can still be transported via magic (such as in a container with an enlargement charm). As such, I don’t find either object to be entirely satisfactory. I think that something like a magical loom or maybe a set of magical sewing needles would have fared as a better item for Hufflepuff and a better horcrux.

Regardless he’s a very loyal character. The tri wizard tournament was a short and inconsequential argument early on in the series and the horcrux hunt wasn’t really his fault between the locket and Harry(in the book he’s a lot worse than in the movies), and he came back as soon as he could manage it. Technically speaking Hermione doesn’t speak to the other two for a bit in the third book, so it’s only really the horcrux thing if it’s a comparison and again that wasn’t entirely his fault.

I don’t mind the sorting hat, but I think the ghost idea would be really cool. But do we know anything about the ghost of the original for people? I doubt Slytherin’s ghost is there. Are dead witches and wizards ghosts? What is the parameters to become a ghost?

I wish the sorting had was destroyed in the final battle, or damaged enough to not be able to sort students so carefully. This would force each house to be more balanced in their supposed attributes and also to split up the students from historically darker families. Instead of the different houses feeding into already established qualities in the students, post-war houses would encourage NEW qualities in them that may have otherwise been left undeveloped.

If there is one plot I wish that would have gotten into the books is Mafalda Weasley. And I would have created another plot of my own if I was instead of Rowling. I would have given the pleasure of killing Bellatrix in combat to Andromeda instead of Molly. For anyone who doesn't know- Andromeda Tonks (aka Black) was the sister of Bellatrix and Narcissa. Andromeda married MB wizard Edward (Ted) Tonks by doing so defying the PB supremacy bullshit attitude of her family and was booted out for it. DE killed Ted and Bellatrix killed her daughter Nymphadora. Nothing would have pleased me more if she appeared in the 2nd stage of the battle and took down Bellatrix once and for all.

Add in the fact that Molly killing Bellatrix was ridiculous anyway due to Molly's lack of combat experience. Although, I'm not sure Andromeda had much more than Molly tbh.
@eranshachar9954
@eranshachar9954 Жыл бұрын
@@dannylagangonzalez6832 Exactly right about Molly. Molly did a holly job of raising the family. When ever she had a time to prepare for the fight? Molly won thanks for 2 reasons. On normal circumstances she was no where near the level of Bellatrix but: 1.Rage of mama Bear which is obvious. 2.Harry's love protection on his allies. I have a theory that the fanatic PB families like the Blacks are raising their kids to fight, and giving them dark magical tools to use even before Hogwarts. So I wouldn't be surprised if Narcissa and Andromeda are near or on Bellatrix's level assuming my theory is true.

Neville also should have gotten that right too if you ask me but yeah, Andromeda did have a good reason to come in and kill Bellatrix or Neville and Andromeda together as they had suffered the most (that we know of).

@@Sobeknjord Yes! I agree with these options 100 %. If anything Molly had a personal bill with Dolohov (for killing her brothers) and Rookwood (for killing her son). But Bellatrix didn't do anything direct against the Weaslies until the moment that she nearly killed Ginny.

Imagine Goblet of fire with a few changes.. The age limit for the Triwizard tournament is 14. Ron decides that he is going to go for it and put in his name. Harry decides against it wanting a quiet year for once and tells Ron this. The champions selection happens. Victor Krum from Durmstrang, Fleur Delacour, Beauxbatons, and quite unexpectedly, Ron Weasley for Hogwarts. Normally older students are selected by the goblet of fire. Ron is elated. For once he is the center of attention instead of Harry. Then the goblet spits out Harry's name stealing Ron's thunder. For a short while Ron irrationally believes that Harry put his name in the goblet until Hermione points out that even if Harry did change his mind and enter his name the goblet. The goblet should have chose one or the other not both. Someone hoodwinked the goblet to make sure Harry is in the tournament. Things remain tense between Ron and Harry. They find themselves in an unfamiliar position competing against one and other. Ron even does a couple of uncharacteristically underhanded things in the name of competition. Most notably he finds out about the dragons from his brother Charlie and decides not to tell Harry. Harry finds out from Hagrid where he also finds out Ron already knew about the dragons and didn't tell him. Harry is furious with Ron and they withdraw from one and other. Ron spends his time with Fred and George while Harry spends his time with Hermione. We get to the maze. Things are a little better between Ron and Harry. They reluctantly trained together for the maze at Hermione's request so she could help prepare them both for it. In the maze Ron saves Harry from a imperused Krum and Harry goes back and saves Ron as he is pulled down by devil's snare on the final leg of the maze. They both get to the cup and Harry tells Ron to take it because Harry wouldn't have made it that far if Ron hadn't saved him from Krum. Ron immediately breaks down similarly to the way Percy breaks down at the end of Deathly Hallows when he comes face to face with his family. Ron beats himself saying he's been a horrible friend to Harry and doesn't deserve to win and he wouldn't have made it either if Harry hadn't come back for him. Harry then say that they should split the victory and both take the cup. Ron regains his composure and agrees. The each grab a handle of the cup and transported to the graveyard. Almost immediately Harry's scar explodes with pain. Ron see Harry grab at his scar and knows what it means. Harry tells Ron to run and he does but Harry is unable to move or see from the pain. Ron hides before Wormtail or Voldermort can see him. Wormtail restrains Harry and starts making the potion that will restore Voldermort to his body. Ron gets as close as he can without drawing attention to himself. The only light source is the fire underneath the cauldron. Ron can't see very well what is happening because of the low light. He doesn't realize that the thing Wormtail threw into the cauldron is Voldermort. Ron stuns Wormtail who is preoccupied with his bloody stump. Ron starts trying to free Harry from his restraints unaware that Voldermort is being reborn right behind him. Harry is still blinded by the pain and has his eyes closed. Harry tells Ron to run and save himself. Ron refuses to leave Harry behind. Voldermort rises out of the cauldron and lands noiselessly next to the unconscious Wormtail. Voldermort calmly picks up his wand and sees Ron trying to free Harry. Just as Ron frees Harry, Harry hears the high, cold voice of Voldermort Voldermort shout "Avada Kedavra" and see the green flash of light through his eyelids. Harry opens his eyes. Ron is staring back at him with a wide eyed shocked expression frozen on his face. Ron then collapses into Harry's arms dead. Harry is beside himself with grief. So much so that he just sits there holding Ron's body as Voldermort summons the death eaters and gives his speech. He is brought out of it by Voldermort mocking Ron's sacrifice. This enrages Harry and the duel begins. When Voldermort's wand regurgitates past spells an apparition of Ron appears and asks Harry to take his body back to his family and to tell Hermione that he's always seen her as a girl and that he wishes he had plucked up the courage to ask her out. He says goodbye to Harry and he and the other apparitions close in on Voldermort providing a distraction for Harry to escape.

I would love to see both: • Hermione’s Sister • Ron Dying And the storylines could be intertwine So, her sister would enter hogwarts and sorted in Ravenclaw. Like Hermione she would be very talented, smart and her thirst for knowledge would be bigger than Hermione’s. But that would be her own downfall, she would follow Voldemort , a young prodigy, become a Death Eater. By the time the battle of Hogwarts, she would be facing her former friends, teachers and her own sister. She would be the one to kill Ron, causing Hermione to have to face her and eventually kill her. This would highlight the dangers and consequences of a war and somehow correlate lily and petunia’s relationship to a higher and darker level

Yeah and you could basically still say unwavering. The 4th book wasn’t great but was quite a short lived argument and didn’t really have serious consequences and in the 7th book it was more like he was badly affected by the horcrux and was forced out by Harry in a sense, and regardless came back as soon as he could and was fiercely loyal to his companions ever after. So loyalty is quite a thing with Ron’s character.

hi, I've been watching your videos for a while and I've finished all the books and I'm on my second reading. I had a sudden request of you to talk about what if cedric didn't die? This would be based off an idea simply that Cedric and krums roles are reversed, and Cedric is alive at the end of the fourth book. This is just my own thoughts for that What if; I think Cedric would have a very prominent role in the DA, I think that him and Harry would've gotten very close to the point of being best mates, and would eventually help them in the endeavors against the death eaters.

No. Hate it. The fact Rowling let Draco off the hook and seemingly Lucius as well was bad enough. Draco did enough for a lifetime Azkaban sentence. Seems like being a Death Eater alone was practically enough after the first war to get a lengthy Azkaban sentence. Unless there were extenuating circumstances like Snape going over before the war ended and being a double agent or Karkaroff snitching on everyone and Karkaroff went to Azkaban and it seems like he barely avoided a life sentence. Hell Draco used Unforgivable Curses and that's supposed to an automatic life sentence...

It is an intriguing glimpse at the creative process and how her mental state affected her writing. I do believe that many artists are in an unhealthy mental state, more specifically bipolar. There's something about the experience of pain and extreme mood swings that can result in creative chaos, especially when coupled with a manic productive phase... I do think that most of these cuts and changes were justified, but I do wish that: 1) Draco Malfoy was fleshed out a bit more beyond being an antagonist. BTW: I'm really happy with the complex nature of Snape and the shady role of Dumbledore. 2) Dudley's redemption. 3) A bit more on the interface between muggles and mages, as there are many plotholes and questions left open... Giving Hermione a sister or Phineas a bigger role would be neat if it doesn't conflict with the plot, but they're not necessary and thus an unnecessary complication. I do see the merit and danger of killing Ron and I do think that it's better that his dad survived, albeit scarred. Lastly, having a coincidence connecting the Grangers with the Potters would probably feel a bit forced. It would have been better if other muggles had found him, or just leave it with Hagrid...

I have no doubt the legacy of Harry Potter is unique and unlike any other in terms of its greatness, I think it really would’ve been tarnished if she had spent so many years constructing a beautiful world of characters and magic just to end the lives of so many.
