Thanks to Arthur Weasely ( love its attitude: ejecting the boys and their luggage after they crashed it into the whomping willow then later saved them from the spiders

As I reread them, I wish ONLY the elder wand was following the master rule. Because as you go through it alot of folks get disarmed, but their wands don't do anything.

I would say this is a good take, but I’d say wands remain consistent if only because of the line “The wand chooses the wizard” in Book 1. But other than this line of dialogue and the occasional variance of wand power depending on the situation, wands are mostly not ascribed anthropomorphic qualities

@@rayhoyer4829 And I was thinking, hand on, the elder wand might have broken TOO, like Lucius' had Harry's wand not gotten broken. Since Harry's would still recognize who is using another wand and go 'no bro, I know who you are'. BUT had Voldemort only used his original wand not the elder in the end...he might have won!

I always thought of it as each wand has a TRUE owner, (the wand chooses the wizard) that they will always perform their best with, however if a wand is "won" (however THAT is determined?) then the wand would perform its best with the new owner, but if the true owner were to reclaim it, even if not "won" back, it would still perform its best. Then that means that the Elder Wand's true owner was likely Death himself (or perhaps the first Peverell Brother), and so everyone else has to "win" it to be its master.

While the Sorting Hat is quite a wonder, I'm most intrigued by the interaction of wand and witch or wizard. Ah, if only such were truly nonfiction!

As a "muggle" I was under the impression that the paintings contained a witch, or a Wizard's spirit. I had no idea that they were basically just A.I..

Wands definitely reflect people's cores and characters, there may be positive equivalents to horcruxes (books would be the best containers of spirits), the sorting hat is an amazing object as it provides a great career guidance, self-discovery and fulfillment hints, the philosopher stone is also a great artifact as it guides/enhances sublimation processes (transforming darkness into brightness ? ) those would be my top of mind favorites

i also feel like the more you use a wand in a certain skill the wand adapts and be better. Which is why Molly was able to defeat Bealetrix using a laundry spell because she was always cleaning and combine that with her love for protecting her children which the wand is probably use to doing

What about wand's characteristics. Bellatrix is unyielding, the elder wand is accpetance of death (understanding that death is part of life and must b respected), Draco's reasonably flexible. What about those things?

Very little HP FF out there explore the potency of Wand lore as well as Ancient Rune, Divination, Arithmancy (With very little Science), Mind Magic etc...

The paintings are kind of a trip… If you think about it, with the data that’s stored and the advancement of AI, maybe you’ll be able to buy a mirror that has yourself in it to converse with. The arguments would be unreal 😂

I thought of a question I have about wands. How does Harry become the master of the Elder wand by disarming Draco’s hawthorn wand (he didn’t even disarm the elder wand), but in book 3 snape is disarmed by Harry in the shrieking shack yet snape still owns his wand, not Harry?

Some wands don't transfer to other people. The wands choose the wizard

Dumbledore, is the master of the Elder wand. Draco defeats Dumbledore, so the mystical ownership transfers to Draco, even though he doesn’t physically have it. Harry then defeats Draco, so while neither of them physically have the Elder Wand at this point, the mystical ownership of the wand transfers to Harry. The ownership of wands also appear to not be retroactive. So despite the fact that Harry disarmed Snape, Harry wouldn’t have any claim over any future wands that Snape may own, only the wand he was using at the time.

The elder want chooses the more powerful wizard. Draco is obviously not more powerful than Dumbledore but Dumbledore was killed shortly after Draco defeated Dumbledore and... No that doesn't make any sense either. Plot armor thats why.

@TomsBackyardWorkshop normally no but at the time that Draco disarmed Dumbledore, he was dying from poisoning and a curse. At that point, it could have been considered that Draco was more powerful.

I read somewhere Sirius wand was 15 inches dragon heartstring and ebony wood. Other articles say wood unknown.

2:30 you talk about wood and trees etc but is it a certain wood taken from a certain trees?

I agree. I don’t think ALL of one tree species is capable of producing magic wood for wand making. But maybe only a certain percentage of each. And some could be rarer than others.

After hearing the founding story of Ilvermorny in the US, and of how the two wands held by the brothers Chadwick and Webster Boot worked together and increased their power, due to having the same wand core FROM THE SAME CREATURE (shavings from the horn of the Horned Serpent), I have wondered if one could use this feature to make a wand of unbelievable power. If using Supreme Core materials like Ollivander does, your best bet would be Unicorn tail hair, as Phoenix feathers and Dragon heartstrings are likely harder to come by in large quantities. Large quantities are needed to sift through them all and find Unicorn tail hairs of sufficient quality for wand-making. Hagrid regularly finds large amounts of Unicorn tail hairs in the Forbidden Forest. The tail hairs get pulled out when the Unicorns walk or run near trees. What one would do, is make THREE wands from Unicorn tail hairs FROM THE SAME UNICORN, preferably from the same wand wood tree as well, as this may help with compatibility. The three wands would then be wrapped around each other in a spiral (it's magic, I'm sure there's SOME way to do this) and bound together. The three cores will more than triple your power, because they are cores FROM THE SAME UNICORN, and thus they will "work together" to increase their power. Unicorn tail hair already lends itself to consistent magic, thus you get power AND control/consistency, all in the same "tripled" wand!
