Sorry to bombard you - But it amazing to drive, but also the tech has jumped 10 generations. I got one of these for an hour the other day and it is a bit lairy at 160-180mph with a crosswind. The SINGLE most impressive thing/upgrade over the DB11 is the traction control. At first, I thought this is no faster, if not slower than the DB11. However, the traction control is so good, its limiting the power so well you cannot tell its TC working hard. There's no lumps in TC. Almost as good as a Tesla. When I turned the traction control off it came alive..... Holy moly the thing from 100mph to 180mph is seriously fast. It felt as fast as the Tesla Model S Plaid - To sum it up, its the only rear-wheel drive that you can drive like an all-wheel drive. The traction and stability control and the mechanical grip over the DB11 has jumped 10 generations. So imagine a DB11 as comfortable, but more solid, with a stage 2 remap ---- Ohhh and no pops and bangs......

There's a cincept which has been used in jet fighters for decades, called HOTAS, hands on throttle and stick; many differently shaped and sized buttons which the pilot, once used to the cockpit can operate by feel and muscle memory, thus keeping his eyes outside the cockpit and thus stay alive by not being distracted, eyes-down. Obviously, when driving a car, one isnt trying to feed a missile up the enemy's tailpipe, or avoid incoming fire, but a saftey element still applies imho. Im not a fan of touchscreens in cars either, especially given the potholed state of uk roads.. your finger bounces around the screen! If youre just flicking a switch or turning a knob then your digits have less chance of slipping off and your eyes are still looking at the road ahead (once familiar with the layout). DB12 got the Vantage chassis setup from the firewall forward and the new Mercedes network topology, hence some of the new tech. Having driven one I hated the exterior mirrors the mirror moving as an entire housing I just found annoying, gear selector felt utterly cheap, my knee rubbed on part of the central tunnel and the Mercedes steering wheel has gone very thick unlike the previous one. It drove well though, gearbox is still the 8HP75 so it does limit ultimate torque unlike the DBSS. Harry also forgot to mention that Aston put the ediff from the Vantage on the DB12 to give it greater dynamics. A lovely thing overall, but a few points would stop any purchase (mostly the knee issue). Software updates are still very much a thing with the DB12 with some of the issues.

Harry , Great review .. I am based stateside although I am a Brit and have owned a DB7 , 2015 vanquish and a 2018 DB 11 and this is by far the best Aston I have ever owned , by a country mile . There are a few glitches in the software, which I think Harry was experiencing with the only by wire CarPlay at the moment and the inability to keep certain functions latched off. I am sure Aston will figure this out in short order. I am in the fortunate position to have a 2020 V12 Bentley Continental, GT, and a Ferrari 812, and my comment to all my petrol head buddies was that this DB12 sat firmly at the same table as both of those cars and right in between them. If I was in a position where I could only have one of them and had to clock quite a few miles on it I would actually pick the DB12 and I don’t think that is something that could’ve been said of any Aston in the last 30 years . I am hearing the DBS. Next generation will be announced this year, and it will be beefed up styling as you would expect with 840 hp twin turbo V12… can’t wait for that!

Like the look of this way more than the DB11.

I thought it sounded alright especially outside. Love the wipers having the clap-hand sequence. Looks great - I'd like the front grill in brushed metal but personal preference.

Yes, those interior dynamics & erganomics are far better than we have seen from Aston for a while.👍🏻 However in the UK we should not any more be forced to follow EU regs on cars sold here. Great vid Harry! 😃

Thank god! Aston Martin should be rightly praised for bucking the brain dead trend that is the slab of lazy and dangerous touchscreen. Nice to see effort and intelligence that’s gone into a proper interior.

Very interesting you comment on aggression of db12, makes sense then the new coupe we see testing atm will most likely be a softer vanquish replacement rather than dbs as most suggest

The DB12 is a LOOKER ! This redesign will stand the test of time no doubt ( timeless looks ).... The interior now looks bang up to date. Then there's the power !....Yep, I'll have this over a : Roma or Bentley GT , all day everyday.........Good job Aston

I like it as a car but is it really an Aston? Stiff padding in the seats, hard suspension, too much power, not enough sound, overly aggressive styling - its as though a German heard about an Aston on the phone and made it based on that call. Its good that the interior is nice and I can only applaud them for giving us real controls for the stuff we need but this just doesn't come across as an Aston. This really seems a lot like a trim level on a Mercedes. Calling it a super GT is fine but if its only super and not really a GT then its just another over the top sports car. I think you need to do a long trip in one to see how much of a GT is really is.

Good Morning Harry. This is Pure Aston Martin. The DB12 with the perfect engine, plenty of Horses underneath the bonnet, the outside kerb appeal, absolutely Stunning. Aston Martin have got it wright. This is such a Beautiful and Gorgeous vehicle that has been created. Thank you.

A lot of road noise for something so sleek...........the biggest improvement by far is the warranty!
