The G80 is three inches longer than an E34 M5 (4794mm/4720mm), seven inches wider (1903mm/1720mm) and 1.6 inches taller (1433mm/1392mm). It weighs almost exactly the same as an E34 M5 (within 15kg). I remember driving an E34 twenty five years ago or so and thinking it was pretty big car at the time.

Yes, M3 is the new M5, M5 is now M7 and M2 took the M3's place And I'm pretty sure BMW didn't save much weight with this gen, so the CS and other special models would have more room for weightloss

Ended up getting a very good deal on a 2023 m4 xdrive competition pkg. my first disappointment was the exhaust it was very muted until I swapped the middle section with Dinan x pipe. The automatic 8 gear transmission is another disappointment compared to the DCT. The DCT is no doubt a superior transmission with lighting fast change of gears.

Great review Harry....well balanced and thoughtful comments as always...had an issue with that rear door wheel arch area too..it almost seems like the developers were given a very strict timeline to finish the design and didn’t have time to smoothen that out or the budget allocation for the car was burgeoning and a stop was called before they could get to it!!!😅
