@@atul4you804 Lakshmi Chand attacked Garhwal several times, on 7th try he had to flee the battlefield hidden away in some sort of container. So the people started calling him that, which means hidden cat. After some time, he finally did manage to win once, which became the origin of the festival of Khatadua. Also you could have just googled it.

Kumaon garhwal were always independent kingdoms just part of Gurkha empire for just 36 years only

@@akshitdadhwal not 36 years bheji, Garhwal was under Gorkha rule for 13-14 years (from 1800 to 1813/1814). And Gorkha successfully invaded Garhwal in their third attempt, before this they got defeated two times by Garhwalis. And that's why there's mild influence of Nepali culture in Garhwal. But yes I also believe that gorkha, Kumaonis and Garhwalis are Cousins. We had same himalyan ancestors, our cultures are similar and I feel proud to call my self Himalyan. Whatever happened then was between maharajas, today we all himalyans need to preserve our unique culture and heritage and our sacred land.
