I feel like I have a perfect strategy for this Zerg against this Terran. Static Defense! You just build spore crawlers everywhere! Forget overseers. Widow mines can't attack buildings and as such can't destroy your detection! If you feel extra careful you can even build sunken colonies (or whatever they are called) to have something not only immune to widow mine but can also kill them! The only thing the Terran player can do against it is to write to Harstem how Zerg static defense is IMBA because it is not only immune to widow mines, can detect and kill them, but also MOVE! How do you counter indestructible and mobile units?!

i often do this when its apparent the terran loves to to do widow mine drops. After the first or second drop a spore and a spine in the minreral line goes down every time so I dont have to stress about it later on and worry about having to wait for an overseer and a squad of units to kill it.

Widowmines are definitely a strong unit. I wouldn't look to this game as an example, but rather Clem vs Serral. Clem abuses zerg's early to mid game with them by placing along the edge of zerg's creep for a few reasons: 1. prevent creep spread, 2. protect the parade push of terran units streaming in while his units are in small groups since zerg can easily counterattack and get picks with a group of zerglings, and 3. destroys lings and banes as one of zerg's primary defensive units before zerg has had a chance to ramp up to a substantial number of hydralisks. If you look at a Clem vs Serral game, Clem 100% has an overabundance of widowmines which I might use as evidence for their slight imbalance against zerg.

I once had a game like this in archon mode ! It was a PvT, we were doing amazing and decided to BM a bit. Eventually mines started to flood our bases. I don't get why mines are so anemic in this replay. Usually terran can blast half your army and heavily damage the other half with just 8 mines. They deal insane damage, have huge splash, have enough HP for terran to just walk them to your army when you try to destroy a base, burrow them take out 70% HP of your army. Plus mines consistently shoot your units entire second after you destroy them even from huge gigantic range (if you are trying to run away). And they are also dirt-cheap. And taking them out with any enemies present is just some combined warfare special operation. But in this replay they deal 2 times less damage than I would expect.

I’m the same mmr as this guy, and I have triple the apm. I double prong attack, do line/bane runbys when the oppenent steps on my creep (if I have enough army to defend or if my units can’t help in defending, like lings vs mass hellbat or something). I actually get upgrades and stay around 80-110 drone count for late game (ik 100+ drones might be too much but that’s just my play style ig. It does level off to around 90 but it’s not like it’s a mistake, Reynor does this). My viper corruptor micro does suck tho, I always lose at least one whenever I abduct against airtoss

Yeah I guess you may have 2 of the most common problems, first you think you are doing much more than you do, you should watch own replay in real time to see what you are actually doing, second you don't play enough games to actually climb, after 3 games a week you are out for the week. Also you maybe don't so simple build orders, jump into a game with no opponent and max out as fast as you can with a simple build order

As for maxing out, it doesn’t matter if I can max out in under ten minutes if half of my games are defending proxy barracks/gateway/cannon rushes. I do good in macro games but the 5 minute games are much more influential on my MMR. My build order doesn’t matter when my opponent is doing some garbage

Not only that Z * has a detection UNIT, there is also a detection BUILDING, he could have used to win that game. And when it comes to the building, mines could not even attack it! And another thing of THIS particularly Z building is, that he even could unroot it and move it! *(well of course not only Z)

I actually had something similar recently, but the guy spammed literally ONLY WIDOW MINES. I even submit it to IODIS (under the name Winwake, that's me), I really had no idea how to beat this. :D

@@EcnalKcin Yup, he invested in thors to begin with but after seeing what he was up against, he stopped investing in thors. Why spend the extra resources when a cheap spam unit will be more effective.

I'm in silver and I do "14 pool" against protoss and zerg because with protoss you can do quite a lot damage if they don't have a wall. And if they have a wall you can still go macro. Against zerg I'm just paranoid against rush.

The editor obviously meant to add "cyclones" to the group of units that can shoot while moving, honest mistake though. Check @25:16 - as well as Battlecruisers?

I feel like this guy used to play broodwar a lot because he spammed hydras and zerglings which seems to be suprisingly usefull in the early-mid game At least against ai, I don't have friends and use the old patch free CD game
