no disrespect but this is not my usual crowd, I was ready to write off a lot of points yall made as irrelevant to the overall discussion but Dr K managed to find a very human truth at the core of what each of them was expressing and clarified beautifully when it was a bit scattered. I need to practice active listening like this.

thats exactly what happened to me as well. when i started watching him, the first thing i realised is he NEVER judges ppl, hes trained himself to , not even on the inside and he really tries to look at things from their perspective, cuz every human is where they are because of a reason. did they have a responsibility as to where they ended up? ofcourse they did, but its not just that, "everything has a reason" is smth i hold very close to my heart since very long ago.

When I see VIET twitch like that (btw, VIET being so vulnerable with his past and what his TRIGGERS are regarding FiFA, will VIET realize triggers are very normal? Ya!! Will it take time for VIET to get there? Absolutely). You can still see Viet fidget-btw fidget as much as possible this is your body trying to find it’s direction, Reality is A) Age and B) Viet is still working through his childhood and very valid May everyone and anyone know your past, good and bad is what makes you a complete human being. The day when Viet is able to manage his emotions not as a MAN when it comes to his reaction to FIFA players but more so observe himself as human with other humans in-the-moment of a game. That honesty with Viet. Touching to know how resilient and how far Viet has come! and so as the rest. Love that Alok was able to just be human not a Harvard trained Physician, but just human with flaws like Viet, and the goos looking other two, Esther, Jeremy on this podcast. No pressure, takes wisdom and conversation and curiosity to see in a different perspective like VIET, Esther and Jeremy all from different walks of life but still maintaining whether you have big vocabulary or small, at one point addicted to people’s liking to the point where you’re not yourself to FINDING yourself. No one has done wrong, no one can do wrong it’s more like can did it work out for you in that moment in time? Just like the Target, it’s all just feed back.

Hi. I'm currently a middle school English teacher and I had to hop on to write a comment. I wanted to stop and applaud Dr. K for the comment that he made on failing exams (56:00). I LOVE that he explained one of the many flaws in our education system.. Many teachers are accustomed to "teach a chapter, give out a test, then move on." It's rarely taught or emphasized to give students chances to REDO the test for a better grade or for teachers to RETEACH a lesson if most students failed a test. Most teachers are focused on getting through the material, rather than making sure that the students are, as Dr. K mentioned, competent and actually understanding the content being taught. I just thought that it was so awesome that he brought this up because I feel that it does need to be addressed. I had one colleague tell me that he used to put a plaque up in his room that read "Failing is not an option" because he would always give students chances to make-up or redo their work by the end of the semester. Unfortunately, so many students this year are so apathetic about their grades or school or education in general.. but that's another topic for another day. With that said: schools should focus more on competence building and skill-based learning. Wish I had a chance to learn from my mistakes in school. We need to help the upcoming generations build more stamina and resilience! Which I feel like we have a lack of...

In high school and middle school we were sometimes able to retake tests thank god. We were required to attend a study session sometimes, which was a review on the test's content, and it wasn't too long. Then we basically got one more chance on the test/quiz. Final exams were different, and of course state standardized testing, SATs, stuff like that have no second chances. This is the USA btw but I know all places are different. And in college there were fewer chances for doing that in my case, however I did drop out in my first semester 3 times lmfao, but I remember there being fewer tests/quizzes in general. They also didn't count for as much of our grade as they did in high school. The whole class was very dependent on the midterms and finals, and any related projects or theses. Edit: Again it was the same deal where by the time you retook the test, all that knowledge escaped your brain because you either didn't care about it or didn't have the energy to keep caring about it. You had to put all your brainpower toward the next chunk of stuff you had to memorize.

How can you do that with the whole "no child left behind" act??? I mean aren't their laws, and funding that make it almost impossible to do that even if it is objectively better for students??

My god I needed to hear him talk about giving control to an addiction/something so bad. I suffer from really bad major depressive disorder and I use the excuse it’s so hard to get out of bed everyday or even use the restroom. However playing into and reinforcing that is literally me giving control to my disorder. I’m playing into it and it makes it worse. I really really really needed to hear that so thank you doctor. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Guys this is one of your best decisions ever, Dr K is truly insightful (if not the smartest man in the world 😜). The part where he talked about Viets addiction to chaos because of his upbringing was sad but somewhat relatable, I’ve felt an addiction to stress just to put myself in a certain state. Even though I’m feeling peace that stress that tries to find problems in anything lurks up behind me. Bring Dr K back to the show guys! ❤️🙏
