Inflammation is one of the body’s first lines of defense against disease. But there is growing evidence that chronic or acute inflammation can fuel the development of a range of chronic ailments, including autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative conditions, heart and metabolic diseases and more. In this seminar, Harvard Medical School researchers and clinicians explore the connection between inflammation and chronic diseases, and what can be done to reduce the risks.

Great presentation. I found the first speakers overwhelming use of the word “uh” very distracting. Maybe she was nervous. She shouldn’t be. She’s quite intelligent. I wish more academics were trained on how to teach and speak publicly.

@John Smith I think Sarah just "expects" more from "high dollar" "ivy league university" caliber "experts". I mean she "expects" to be wowed. Don't you think that's a reasonable expectation?

I know that that leukocytes are made in the bone marrow, but what is the underlaying mechanism or biochemical process that forms these leukocytes in the first place.

InfiniteUniverse88 you’re only half right. Carbohydrates are necessary, as they are our body’s main fuel source, and many of the healthiest foods on the planet - think lentils, fruits, and vegetables - are also carbohydrate sources.

A dumb title that says nothing about what is talked about. Make the introduction and sit down; my goodness, it is important to get to the point if you intend to out things on the Internet. You only have a couple of minutes, and the opportunity is lost. Whoever posted this should have edited it beforehand.

@damedesmontagnes - It's bad habit! A mannerism. Of course my comment can help! If she takes my advice, and gets speech therapy, the THERAPY will help! If a professor can't address an audience, that's a lack of education as bad as a professor who can't do mathematics! Sloppy! And what empathy have you for her poor students who have to listen to that torture?

If the speakers are meant to be educators of the world, they should first learn how to speak and communicate properly. Uh, yeah..Ineffective communicators should not be allowed to teach on this level. If Harvard authors have ghost writers, perhaps presenters should be ghost speakers
