Which is YOUR FAVORITE??? Harvest Hosts or Hipcamp? Let me know in the comment section below! 😁 Randi

Harvest Hosts user for a couple of years - very happy with all of our HH stays. Couple of other points to consider: 1) we can safely go to wineries and attractions we might have passed by because we know we can get our rig in and out; the comments and reviews help with this We just plan shorter travel days when staying at a HH. 2) HH now has online booking for many of their sites. 3) Some HH locations allow for multiple nights 4) We don't feel that the $20 suggested spend is paying for camping - it''s paying for the wine, farm products or museum admission we would purchase anyway. Great value in my book!

Very informative. For us, it is a no-brainer. It has to be Hipcamp. Even though we are a teardrop trailer, with a clamshell outdoor kitchen, we don’t “qualify” for HH.

I love this video!! Thanks for doing this comparison Randi! You did an excellent comparison. I have found a few locations I plan to stay at with both Harvest Host and HipCamp (thanks to you!) I may skip Harvest Host locations in the hot summer as I don’t currently have enough battery power for all night air conditioning. I am looking forward to see what you decide to do for your battery replacement.
@RandisAdventures4 жыл бұрын
I am thrilled you found this video helpful Suzanne! I use my Jackery to power a small portable fan and that has worked well. If you don’t have a Jackery a small battery operated fan would work just as well to help keep you cool during hot nights. I am still researching RV batteries! Stay tuned. 😁

If you're not on site, is there a way to insure that guests don't overstay their booking? Like how do you know they aren't booking for 1 night but actually staying for longer? I had cameras at my airbnb but I'm not aware of a camera system that would work off grid for this in real time.

Can't sink my teeth into Harvest Host. I want to pull over, usually in the evening, sleep, and get back on the road. If a Harvest Host closes at 5pm, you need to be there before 5. Then they STRONGLY encourage you to make a purchase ($20 recommended). Therefore, I pay $80 for an annual cost and $20 for each stop. No Thank you. This video was very helpful. Never heard of Hipcamp. Will do some more research.
@RandisAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Very valid points for Harvest Hosts overnight RV parking. Harvest Hosts is best for travel days that end mid afternoon because as you said, they want you to be there before end of business hours. I think Harvest Hosts makes great one or two night (find two close by each other) camping experiences! Camping on a farm, winery or museum sure would be a different camping experience!
@juliepreimesberger65713 жыл бұрын
Don't forget you are getting a meal, bag of coffee, bottle of wine, cheese, or whatever you choose to spend that $20 on though.

Hi Patty! On the Harvest Host website under Code of Conduct they say to stop noise, music and generators by 10PM. I am not seeing anything about generators on individual host pages. I think it is probably best to call ahead and verify.

Hip camp locations charge per night, harvest host is usually free. Big difference. From what I can tell harvest host will not allow small campers with exterior kitchens. Sad as we are looking at a UEV 490, and the kitchen is external.

Harvest Host does have an annual membership you need to pay so not free but two usages probably pays for the membership cost.
