It’s peanut harvest time! After months of waiting we are ready for our harvest peanut video. Harvesting peanuts video is interesting because you don’t know what is below ground. When I’m harvesting peanuts at home, I know it’s time to make some sweet and salty snacks. I don’t focus on chemical pesticides in my garden so I can enjoy groundnuts harvesting. The common name for peanuts is groundnuts.
When harvesting peanuts at home; time when the weather is dry because you want nice dry peanut pods. Harvesting peanuts by hand is easy. In the video you see how I dig down systematically to harvest groundnuts by hand. You also get to see how to harvest peanut without losing the peanut pods.
How long do peanuts take to grow? Planting and harvesting Peanuts takes 90 to 150 days depending on the variety of peanut you grow. Varieties of peanuts you can get easily depend on whether you have a long or short growing season in your region.
You can create a system of growing and harvesting peanuts in the garden by practicing successive planting. Growing peanuts in bags or growing peanuts in containers is beneficial if you have little garden space.
How many days does peanut harvest take? Peanuts harvest days will depend on the size of your crop. You may need to leave the peanuts above ground so that they dry before you continue harvesting the peanuts from pods.
Peanuts are commonly called groundnuts in my region. Harvesting groundnuts is commonly in western parts of my country that have well distributed rainfall seasons. Harvesting of groundnut by hand is also more common than harvesting groundnuts by machine.
How do I know peanuts are ready to harvest? When the foliage turns yellow and is dying back, peanuts are ready for harvest. Also you can harvest some peanuts to check whether the pods are full. It’s good to check that peanut pod to make sure that the peanuts have filled the pod.
How long do peanuts need to dry? If you have a big peanut harvest, air dry the pods for 2 to 3 weeks before storing. Leave the peanut pods on the plant and place the above ground. After peanuts dry, it is easy to break peanut pods while harvesting.
