All of your videos are great. This one is extra good because of the drone shots. You can see everything going on from above and to the side. Perfectly done.

I am new to your channel. I grew up on a fruit and veg. farm in southern Ontario. I worked in various aspects of ag research and development mostly in Western Canada. You talked about small potatoes, a company in Edmonton Alberta successfully developed a market for small potatoes marketing them in 2 lb bags. Their main product is a small yellow potato. I am 81 and retired, your videos keep me connected to the farm.

Here I am sitting behind my computer in Sweden looking at someone harvesting potatoes... Well, main reason is this is new to me, never before thinking on how it is done on a big scale. Second is Molly, a beautiful woman an even more a beautiful personality with a lot of humor and compassion of her daily work.

All my life when I thought about potatoes I would think of Idaho. I'm a retired truck driver out of New Jersey and the last company I drove for I would spend my Wednesday, Thursday and Friday making deliveries from Seabrook, NH to Ellsworth, ME. Until I started driving up there I had no idea of all the potato production. I've been enjoying your videos for the past few months. A new subscriber.

Great drone shot of the Spudnick in action. You can clearly see how the harvester works. Don't know how you would be able to harvest all those potatoes without it. Fascinating machine. Molly you are no dummy. I give you a lot of credit learning how to drive the red truck. Love Bessy. Does she roam free all day and follow you guys around. Lol
@shanebell95893 ай бұрын
Bessy is quite something haha. 99% of the time she free roams/ follows us around. I do leave her at home occasionally if we’re moving a lot of equipment down the road for the day or something, she doesn’t like those days .

I find all of the conveyers that you use to harvest and store the potatoes fascinating. Of course, they make it possible to grow and harvest a huge amount of potatoes. Infinitely better than a potato fork and a big old wooden 55 gallon barrel.

I've done a lot of potato harvesting at young age, in Central Europe during USSR regime. We always made a huge bone fire from potato vines, threw potatoes in to the fire. It was good eating. In Alaska we call the yellow potatoes Yukon Gold. That's what they are. My favorite kind. They are meant to be cooked and eaten with the skins

Excellent video from the hard working Bell's! What are the Constance potatoes? I figured y'all for Kennebec,Katahdin growers! I lost my entire planting of Kennebecs this year,never came up ! I usually get about 90% or better what I plant come up. Never had total blowout! I replanted a couple rows in late June and at least harvested some taters. I can not imagine how devastating a blight or rot would be for a farm . God Bless all our you farmers!

Your videos are so calming. Odd, because you are all so busy and work long hours during harvest. It must be satisfying to watch the results of your months of discing, plowing, hilling, planting, fertilizing, watering, and harvesting go flowing down the conveyor belt and piling up in the storage bins. And then you have to turn around and start packing all those potatoes!

Back in the early 70s when I was still in high school I worked at a steakhouse in Arlington Tx and their baked potatoes were the biggest and best tasting potatoes I ever had even today and what we would do is brine the potatoes in a large vat and then start baking them a few hours before we opened for business and I remember those convection ovens and the smell of those potatoes even today.

Some days the trucks and traffic just fight you all day long. I spent all day Monday driving the struggle bus. Spent the day in an International HV Tri-axle that I haven’t driven much. Sight lines are different, handling and controls are not what I amused to and I struggled all day long. But, I got my loads in. Tuesday I was back in my usual truck (Freightliner 10-wheeler) and had a much better day basically driving the same route - in your neighborhood (sort of) Bowdoin - Yarmouth via Lisbon and Durham.
