These videos are absolutely beautiful. I'm an ancient crafts artesan from Finland and I'm amazed how similar our heritage skills are to yours! Thank you so much for sharing. I hope these skills, with all their beauty, live on for a long time.

HI, first i would like to tank all of you for sharing your skill. Still have something I am not sure to well understand in spruce roots process.Do you just split your roots in half? Cause even if i use spruce roots who have a smaller diameter than a pen, I have the feeling that my roots are to big (after have been split in half) to can realize a good compact twining. So I woold like to know how tick and how wide the spruce roots need to be to do compact twinning. Tank you, Phil from the east coast,Tiohtià:ke (Montréal,Québec)

Looks like they split very small root. Smaller than a pencil for fine baskets. Bigger roots maybe for the uprights.

Is there a particular time of year that is best to collect the roots?
