I learned from another gardener that the dried sunflower stalks make good garden stakes.

One thing I noticed about organic sweet potatoes is that they are more reddish than orange and they have a more distinguished flavor. ❤

Could you include in a garlic video just a general timeline from start to finish what the garlic planting/harvesting process is for you? Growing garlic is definitely a goal of mine and even if my process has to be different due to first freeze timeframes and such, just a general idea of what the process is like that I could find in one video would be SO helpful! Love your videos!!

I'm addicted to your garden. You have inspired me to refocus on me and my dream garden. Garlic question: when you plant, you water immediately. Is that the only time you water until you see growth in spring?
@itsbreellis3 ай бұрын
Ill check it throughout, Typically you wont need to do much but if its been dry and the soil is dry water

Hey Bre, Great job on the sweet potatoes! I think if you mixed in some sand for the sweet potato grow bags. I always add manure, compost and sand every year. Granted I do grow them in the ground. The sand does allow for some expansion of the potato as the soil is less compacted. I was a hospice nurse and worked with so many African folks in Minnesota and they made potato greens from the sweet potatoes and it was so amazing. I would see them every weekend at the farmers market trying to be the first one so they could buy all they wanted.

Going to be my third year growing Sweet Potatoes. This year in 2 of my grow bags I've mixed in River sand. I'll have to wait and see how that turns out as it's only first month of spring here in Australia. Love your chanel.

I'm in zone 9b. I put some sweet potatoes on top of a short brick wall in May, 3 days later they were perfectly baked. I saw a video where sweet potatoes were put in a green house on top of black plastic to cure, they got baked. My tip, Don't do those things. 😁

We butchered chickens for the first time this year as well. We knew it was the next step in our journey. We both feel proud of ourselves for having a freezer full of chickens we raised & culled humanely with a true appreciation of the life taken to nourish us. We kept one rooster & named him Pardon 😊

I threw a sprouted sweet potato in my garden this year, just as a complete experiment, and I got a bunch of thin and small sweet potatoes, but that was with zero effort. The original potato rotted but the slips sprouted off luckily. I then sprouted slips from a different potato but didnt end up planting. Im hoping to find more information on the curing process, most information comes off as confusing or requiring humidifiers or plastic bags? I just want a simple, plastic free way! I think I will do more experimenting next year. Thanks for the information Bre!

I'm in rural coastal Australia, with temperature and climate similar to Las Vegas, and grow my sweet potato different to you. I have to room to grow in the ground but the big difference is that we leave them in the ground until the leaves yellow. Did you know that you can eat the leaves as you would eat spinach?

Hey bre, love the garden it looks great but you said you’re having a problem with caterpillars. I think I might have a situation. In a spray bottle mix peppermint oil ,baking soap and neem oil and spray on the areas where there is caterpillars I hope this works for you and the mixer is all organic , I know hope much your like growing organic. See you in the next video.❤

Great video! I love growing sweet potatoes 👍🏼 After curing them in our Barn for a few weeks, I move mine inside and store them in a giant wicker basket with a lid in my pantry (dark and cool) but after a few months in storage, they always start sprouting slips. Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong?

Thank you!! for your area id look up what varieties do best! I would think you need to find some hardneck garlic varieties and Im not sure if you need long day or intermediate day onions. Farmers almanac has a chart that can help with onions! If you search your area and what you want to grow you will probably have a extension office or a college in your area that can give you some good information! Hope this helps!

One suggestion for next year, place your grow bags in a spot where you can dump them out onto a tarp to harvest. Way easier and no damage.
