I have a freeze dryer and veggies and herbs are amazing! Just wanted to voice you a little tip, make sure you vacuum seal those jars with all your goods. Each time you open a jar you need to revvacuum seal to remove the air. The moisture from that small moment of exposure can spoil them over time. I mention this because it is SO much work and I learned the hard way when I first made sweet potato baby food 😬

New to your videos as of this morning. So enjoy your garden. Cucumbers are so full of vitamins. I heard an ad that said instead of reaching for a candy bar reach for sliced cucumbers. I soak mine in Italian dressing and we pick at it when it's hot outside and just need a little pick me up. Just getting ready to peal one and soak it.

We're up in Canada and our growing season is super short but onions and carrots grow so well I've never had an issue with them, just plant and water and you get an amazing bumper crop. So its a trade-off cause we cant grow winter crops cause there's 2 feet of snow and its -30. And on average we only get about 120-130 frost free days so there's only ever time for 1 crop a year.

Canning carrots is fun and relatively easy. If you do, I personally recommend skipping the salt, or else you get super salty carrots. I have a huge trial batch that's probably only good for soup, lol.

Love your enthusiasm, your garden and of course the hard work that gets you there! I'm 72 young and have been gardening since my late 20's. That being said every year is a new journey with awesome successes and some Oh No's! What I love is that it is a never ending education with many, many AHAH moments :) I only use my basil fresh to make amazing pesto. What is the dryer you use on the basil as I have seen that you can also freeze it? I was also curious as to where you are located as I'm in beautiful New Hampshire...zone 4/5. I ask because I haven't done successive plantings except the indestructible radish and occasional lettuce. Thank you again for making my day and keeping the love of gardening alive.

Great tasting and refreshing summer drink over ice. You have a beautiful cat!

Thank you! And I love that idea for the cucumbers! I’ll have to give that a try! And the okra wasn’t slimy at all! That’s why I think I actually liked it! It was kinda styrofoam like. That’s the best why I can describe it. Kinda the same texture as lucky charm marshmallows but not lol

Great video. I’m curious, is your freeze dryer in the basement? How would say the humidity level is where the freeze dryer is located? I’m only on my 3rd batch ever and they have all taken so long!!!!!!! I had an inadequate vacuum error that I seem to fix by turning on the dehumidifier, which I have kept going while I’m using the freeze dryer. I cannot imagine anything ever taking only 14 hours. I’m trying to decide if we need to move it back up to the main floor.
