May, or June, watch the trees in your area and you will know then the pollen comes. Its only a 2 week window, so be ready

We use a 60% alcohol content at a 1:5 ratio, 1g pollen to 5ml liquid. Then follow the typical tincture practices which are: Shake daily or every 2 days. Leave pollen for 2 weeks or more in the solution. New Moon to full moon is best for maximal potential. Filter and press out the pollen. Let sit for 1-2 days until any remaining Pollen has settled out, then pour off the top leaving any sediment that has fallen to the bottom behind. This is usually dosed at 20-40 drops 1-2 times daily.

+samirbalonmano The cell walls are cracked with ultrasonic waves. This is non chemical process and does not alter the pollen, other than opening up the cell walls making it more bioavailable. It' only increases the absorption by 10 to 20% and so it's not necessary if you consume good amounts of raw unbroken cell wall pine pollen.

That's the best way to tell when the season is starting. Use a tree in your area as a barometer for when to go out and harvest in the forest. Though in an Urban environment the trees may be a week or so ahead of the forest as it is often slightly warmer.

I would suggest adding a little water to bring it down to 60-65% 1:2 1g pollen (fresh) to 2 ml (liquid) should be good, Or up to 1:5 if it is dried. But you can make it as strong as you like.

When it comes to medicine making, if you can harvest it locally you will always have a superior product. I am aware of the stuff available from China, that is what most companies use. We are proud that we are using what is in our own back yard. That is not saying that the chinese product is inferior quality, only that there is more then just chemical constituents to good medicine. I would rather see people using pine pollen then not. So make your own choice.

Love the video- thanks for the info! I can't wait to try harvesting - I walk my kids past a property with a pine tree every morning - hope people don't think I'm nuts for flicking the catkins! Once I see the dust, I'm heading out to the pine barrens by us - guessing it should be a great harvest. One question - If I see one pine start to dust from flicking the catkins, and that tree is in a relatively urban area, is it safe to assume that trees in a wooded expanse are producing pollen as well?

I would bet you could make a fertilizer from ground catkins the same way you make compost tea and use year round. Anybody tryed anything simular? Here in Florida we have the smaller pollen catkins like this tree and really big pollen catkins covering the state right now in varius stages.

All the pine species produce great pollen. I find catkins on the white pine to be the largest and have the most pollen in them. As far as chemical constituents in each type, I'm not sure that there is a big difference

Can you consume spruce pollen as well? Is it as beneficial as pine pollen?

We have harvested spruce pollen and it is definitely tasty and abundant. As far as the medicinal benefits, I'm not 100% sure as it's not been studied or used traditionally as much as Pine. But I assume it's very similar. Spruce in general is slightly more masculine as a plant energetically than pine. So my assumption is it would have a similar or stronger effect as an androgen, and similar antioxidant, bioflavonoid, amino acid and other nutrient profile.

I just made my own batch of pine pollen tincture and what I noticed is that some of it will sit at the bottom of the jar but over half will sit ontop of the alcohol so I have to shake it up everyday other wise it just turns hard ontop of the alcohol is this normal?

I have everclear 151 proof. Is that too high proof? Also, would you recommend tin tiring at a ratio of 2:1 (2 parts pollen, I part alcohol) or a 1:1 ratio? Thank you, peace

Thanks for good video, nice that there are more people than me harvesting wild plants. I was just (Feb-2015) going to make a smoohie with fresh, unrinsed winter pine needles, thinking they must be good for immune system, antibacterial etc, but a little apprehensive since on the earlier occasion, I got an instant, strange irritation in throat, with coughing and a feeling that there may be sth wrong. Now a friend warned me that it must be washed/rinsed because of the chemtrails. I hadn´t thought about that, and pass it on FYI. As the video was made 2,5 yrs ago, the chem trailing was probably not as bad as today. Pollen can´t be rinsed, but hopefully the goodness outweighs the health hazard of the chemtrails, and since the pollen is so short lived, hopefully there is only very little Strontium, Aluminium etc on them.. anyone who knows? The chemtrailing should be replaced by some life friendly measures...Anyone who knows how they think, i mean they destroy the same earth they themselves live on too? Or do they save great nature reservations for themselves, spared from it? So grateful for reply or reflections. Courage and love to all.

Claudia Bothner I would say that washing them is slightly paranoid as they are only in season for a very short time and shouldnt be bio accumulating these types of toxins.
