I had a crappy old Craftsman table saw too and now own the 52" 4 HP Harvey. It's terrific. My abilities will probably never catch up to this machine, but that's a good thing. Nice vid.

thanks for watching. How's your experience been with the dust collection? Similar to mine?
@H7Woodworks3 сағат бұрын
Man it's nice to hear the honest feedback! I pulled the trigger on a Harvey 4HP Dovetail with the Big Eye Rip Fence last night, before I found this video. You are 100% correct about watching the sales. I watched for 3 weeks and charted prices. My purchase is 13 months after yours and I paid more but felt like I got a good deal. The Big Eye adds some cost too. The shipping is nuts. I got it on a free shipping deal. I ended up paying the same but it felt nicer thinking I was saving on shipping lol. S/F Brother!

Thanks for watching. Watch my other Harvey one on the router table insert and the sliding table. I'll be doing a 3rd video giving my feedback on the whole system. overall I'm pleased, but there are some cons I can highlight. Either way, this is a varsity level saw, and it's a game changer in the shop.

You will love this aw, I love mine. I moved the black end exstenion top to the rear and it is now my out feed table, works great and was very easy to do.
@KeimpieceCarpentry Жыл бұрын
I built a quick and easy outfeed table that doubles as extra scrap wood storage. Basically just a 2x4 box with mdf top. I put leveling feet on it though so I can fine tune the height and get it perfectly level and even with the table saw, since we all know garage floors are never level

I like your idea about moving the black extension table...how's that's working out so far? considering that..or eventually maybe trying to added a router plate. I think i have a cutout template somewhere that came the router lift I bought years ago 🤔

I'm actually about to install the Harvey Router System, it comes with a cast iron insert. 110lbs. So I'll be removing the black composite piece and replacing with the cast iron. @@tomcooke9221

I have a SawStop and mine was the same way when running only the overhead off a 6HP ShopVac. I then plumbed in a dedicated line off my Rockler 1250 Dust Collector to run in conjunction with my overhead, and it is a world of difference. There is hardly any dust. You could damn near eat off it!
@KeimpieceCarpentry Жыл бұрын
yea I was thinking about doing something like that. Using the dead space under the table for a dedicated dust collection system

Semper Fidelis! Just got one and appreciate your setup video. Wish I had seen this before I setup mine b/c I also scratched my fence rail with that metal stopper piece. Wish the instructions were better and explained how to properly place the fence onto the rail.

thanks for watching, yea, I got the sliding table attachment so I'll be doing a video on that and I'm currently setting up the router wing so there's going to be more videos coming.

I agree with you about the instructions ...I'm in the middle of setting mine up now. the exploded diagrams at the end helped me with alot of the which bolts go where questions. I quick note, you installed the legs incorrectly...they go underneath the table. I almost did it the same way you did 🤦 nice video all around!

Dang, I'll have to take a look. Evidence that the instructions aren't good. I'll have another video coming out on the slider attachment and the router

I have the shark over head guard, and the harvey G700 dust processor, my dust collection is much better than what I see on your set up. The G700 is what I feel is the best and is why I have good collection, I got thr shark mostly be cause I just wanted the best. I never took what came with the saw out of the box. All my big tools are Harvey now.

i've read the fence is a bit "wobbly" on the laguna - I would def do significant research prior to purchase.

Watched your series on the Harvey and am in the market for a table saw upgrade. I was pretty set on the Laguna but the Harvey seems like a very good saw too and like the upgraded miter gauge it comes with. The $500 shipping is tough tho.

yea it's def a consideration. whats the shipping on the delta or saw stop? Id imagine all large cabinet saws have high shipping.

What dust collector do you have? I suspect it is underpowered. You should be getting much better dust collection.

@@KeimpieceCarpentry I have a clone of this table saw with nearly the exact same dust collection setup (literally different colour plastic on the back solid coloured piece). The dust collector port that offshoots to the 1.25" port is useless, the air flow from a dust collector just isn't fast enough for smaller dust/chips. Cap it off and hook the blade guard dust collection up to a good shop vac or if you have one a dust extractor. I did this and now have almost zero dust when making cuts. Hope this helps.
@KeimpieceCarpentry8 ай бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking of doing and storing a shopvac under the wing. I find that I don't use the overhead attachment very often as unless you're doing a high number of repeat cuts at a wider width (3 plus inches) it's not very practical. thanks for the info@@sphixcanada
