I just finished assembling my new Saw. After watching your Video.....I went out and reinstalled the Motor Bolt that I left astray. It ran, but squealed. I had similar issues figuring out what the instructions lacked. Thanks for the video. Jim

How exciting! Something I missed from my video is that one of the last boxes I opened had a great set of Allen keys that I wish I'd had from the start, so if you don't have a good set make sure you grab those early haha! Thanks for watching

Its an absolute awesome saw! I love mine. Check out their Big eye fence. Its a game changer. They're going to put them on all of their table saws in the near future. I only wish that mine came from the factory with it. Again, perfect choice. You're going to love it.

Hi, great video and even better to see an Aussie review. I just paid for the exact same saw to replace the exact same Dewalt you have. My only difference will be that I will have to get mine off a trailer and not a Ute. Thank goodness I have a set of ramps for it, but it will still be fun. 😂

Many thanks for this. I am an Aussie living in Japan. Here if you want a decent saw it is Harvey or Harvey. Like you I am a little tight for space and would prefer a 24" version but they don't make it. I wrote to Harvey and they replied very promptly that they have no plans to provide the saw with a shorter rail option, so I am considering buying the 36P and cutting down the rails. Shame really as it couldn't be difficult for Harvey to make shorter rails. If you or anyone has advice regarding rail shortening please let me know; many thanks in advance. Don't know here you are in Australia but I go there every year to visit family; would love to see your setup ! Best wishes from the central Honshu mountains.

Thanks for watching, and thanks for getting in touch! I'm still really happy with the Harvey saw, it does a great job with everything I throw at it. I certainly don't have any specific advice for cutting down the rails, but I can't see why that wouldn't work. Maybe a reciprocating saw with a good carbide demolition blade on it, or a hacksaw with lots of patience and spare blades!

Thanks for watching! I'm still a huge fan of this saw - the only thing I've given up on is the overhead dust collection but thats only because it tended to get in the way of filming and I didn't take the time to plug it up when I wasn't using the dust hood.
@common-sense-is-dead
@common-sense-is-dead Жыл бұрын
@RangeWoodworking Yeah, the overhead dust collector seems like it's more of a hassle than anything. I've never been one to use blade guards myself and I really like that feature of how quickly and easily the riving knive can be inserted and removed.

Great video. Liked & Subscribed. I am also upgrading from a Dewalt contractor saw to the Harvey 2HP. Just wondering at this point, money and electrical requirements aside, would you have opted for the 3HP saw instead? Thanks. cheers
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking 9 ай бұрын
Thanks Ross! I mean the simple answer is "bigger is always better" right? Although I don't think the 3hp model was readily available here and at no point have I felt that this saw doesn't have enough power. I was ripping 50mm thick Australian hardwood joists the other day and it didn't bog, struggle, or burn at all. I'm not likely to ever be pushing it harder than that

Do you still feel it has enough power over getting the 4HP? I want to buy once cry once. Will this cut 2 inch oak/walnut/maple without much issue?
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking Жыл бұрын
I'm a big fan of the buy once cry once mentality, I also like "the poor man pays twice". That said, the 4HP (as far as I'm aware) isn't available in Australia, the most powerful is the 3HP HW110S-36, and that requires a 15 amp 240V circuit here. I have had no issues with the 2HP, I don't work much with walnut or maple but with a good ripping blade this doesn't seem to struggle with super hard Australian hardwoods in that thickness. At the end of the day, your budget will probably dictate which way you lean, if you can afford the 4HP and have the infrastructure to run it, I would!

@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking 10 ай бұрын
I don't know if it would be much more than 40-50 kg (90-110lbs) lighter? It's also quite a large machine especially with the fence rails, you must have a huge apartment!

Hold on, as a woodworking KZbinr, aren't you required by law to get a Saw Stop??? 🤣 Just kidding. This new saw looks amazing! What led you to choose this one over a different make/model? And why go for such a massive upgrade over your previous saw? I had a cheap Ryobi jobsite saw to start with and it was just good enough to get me excited about the possibility but just bad enough to know very quickly I needed something better! I ended up getting the Delta contractor saw and I'm very happy with it but I'm always interested in hearing more about why people choose the tools and brands that they do!
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Haha I forgot about the SawStop law! A few things led to this model, but the main thing I settled on was value for money, it's the end of financial year in Australia so a lot of companies have sales on. The equivalent SawStop is in the region of AUD$2000 more expensive so that was out. The Laguna Fusion 3 requires a 15amp circuit and the Fusion 2 has less power. Plus I really liked the fact this saw came with the compass mitre gauge. I figured I'd go for the significant step up from the DeWalt to a full cabinet saw because hopefully it'll be the last saw I need to buy for a very long time! Thanks for watching as always, Rob!
@roblahoda
@roblahoda Жыл бұрын
@@RangeWoodworking Yeah, value for money would definitely be the top factor I would be looking for with any big tool like this. It looks like an amazing choice and I'm excited to see what new projects you'll be working on with it!

Mate - so great to hear an Aussie accent on KZbin! Great job on the video 🙂 I am very close to ordering a Laguna Fusion 3 - you mentioned that you discounted that model because it required a 15A outlet. I plan on getting one of my 10A outlets swapped out (by a licenced sparky, of course) for a 15A outlet ($25AU from Bunnings) to run the Fusion 3. Other than this extra step for the power, was there any other reason that you selected the Harvey HW110LC 36P over the Laguna Fusion 3? Cheers - Ash
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Hey Ash, thanks for watching mate! The 15A plug plus cost of electrician were one of the reasons I didn't with the Laguna. The other thing for me was that Gregory Machinery in Brisbane offered 15% off if you collected it. That took about $600 off the price. So all in all I picked up the HW110 for $3200ish and the Laguna was $3899+freight. There are also a few other features about the HW110 that I liked such as the awesome mitre gauge thats included and the extra-deep table. Cheers! Edit - I should add, I have nothing against the Fusion 3, I'm sure its a hell of a saw. It essentially just boiled down to a budget decision.

Easiest way to get it off your truck would have been to do what you did after you got it in the shop. Open the box and halve the weight.
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input, but I don't really agree. The gross majority of the weight was the saw body itself. Had I unboxed it in the back of the truck I'd have shed maybe 50 of the 300lbs and then have something much less stable to get out.

Hey man - just stumbled across your channel via this video because I'm also in the market for a table saw upgrade. Unfortunately, I don't think this Harvey will do it for me (only 2HP). I'm currently rocking the Laguna F2 (1.5HP) and it periodically gets bogged down with 6/4 and higher material. In any event, consider me subscribed, hope the channel takes off for ya!
@RangeWoodworking
@RangeWoodworking Жыл бұрын
Thanks Donny! Yeah I would say that whilst I think this is a better saw than the F2, I don't think it would be enough of an upgrade to be worth it for you.
