When I remembered this song literally 2 minutes ago I almost shed a tear. Wow this is an oldie but goodie. Thank you cheesy retro song that reminded me of this gem. @mamasquid14017 жыл бұрын
It's always seemed to me like this song is mocking the 90s alt scene while simultaneously acknowledging it is a part of it. Like the protagonist of our song sort of buys into the culture, but the buy-in makes him miserable. The line, ''I'm so hot...cuz I'm in hell'' showcases this ambivalence nicely. ''The agony and the irony is killing me...'' reminds me of that Simpsons line where a teen asks his friend, ''Are you being sarcastic, dude?" and he replies, ''I don't even know anymore.'' And I think it's still relevant, especially if you're looking back on the 90s as an adult who was a teen... shit... 20 years ago... shit.

Even MySpace didn't exist in '97. Ever heard of SixDegrees? Of course not, but it did exist back then. In more realistic terms though, people were fighting on bulletin boards, usenet and IRC.

Best part of the video is that people are interacting, talking, dancing, there's no cell phones . No one videoing or taking pics every second . In the 90s we lived in the moment, not so we could look at it in a memory.

2019 and this song still rocks. Oh the memories...such a great time to be a teenager. Now look what we've done. Tide pods.

@@aaronhackettfilm I went to Nrml Rallies to legalize cannabis and spread the word to everybody in the 90's as a kid. I've been arrested for cannabis many times through no fault of my own. Lived through the 90's blazingly as well

I had visions, I was in them I was looking into the mirror To see a little bit clearer The rottenness and evil in me Fingertips have memories Mine can't forget the curves of your body And when I feel a bit naughty I run it up the flagpole and see who salutes (But no one ever does) I'm not sick but I'm not well And I'm so hot 'cause I'm in Hell Been around the world and found That only stupid people are breeding The cretins cloning and feeding And I don't even own a TV Put me in the hospital for nerves And then they had to commit me You told them all I was crazy They cut off my legs, now I'm an amputee, God damn you I'm not sick but I'm not well And I'm so hot 'cause I'm in Hell I'm not sick but I'm not well And it's a sin to live so well I wanna publish 'zines And rage against machines I wanna pierce my tongue It doesn't hurt, it feels fine The trivial sublime I'd like to turn off time And kill my mind You kill my mind, mind Paranoia, paranoia Everybody's coming to get me Just say you never met me I'm running underground with the moles, digging holes Hear the voices in my head I swear to God it sounds like they're snoring But if you're bored, then you're boring The agony and the irony, they're killing me (whoa) I'm not sick but I'm not well And I'm so hot 'cause I'm in Hell I'm not sick but I'm not well And it's a sin to live this well (One, two, three, four)
