In the past we have made the channel crossing several times with these vessels. I can't remember ever to have seen cyclists taken the ferry. Since the channel tunnel opened in 1994 we traveled by train to the UK. We once took the ferry to Hull and we landed in a severe storm and since then my wife doesn't want to sail again.

I'd love to know what route you took to Harwich - some nice-looking paths on the way. I've taken my cycle across from Harwich to Hoek a few times, but as mine's a Brompton, I carry it on board as a foot passenger and stow it in my cabin.

Nice video! Any top tips for travelling with your bike on the ferry? Never done it before but looking to do the same journey as you soon.

It's super easy! Main thing is to go where the cars are to check in rather than where pedestrians go. Also I recommend traveling at night and getting a cabin!

I enjoyed this, although I don't think I'd be in any hurry to visit Harwich! Nice to see that you weren't the only cyclist making the crossing.

Yeah there were loads of cyclists, and no I wouldn't be in a hurry to visit Harwich if I were you either ha!

@@spinningtrue Harwich, on the other side of Bathside Bay. Very historic, takes five minutes to see everything.

Having done the Dutchflyer Rail & Sail, night-out and day-return. I would never do a day crossing again, it was incredibly boring.

I've done the night crossing a few times, it's way better. There are other ferry journeys out there like the ones in Scandinavia which have excellent entertainment during the day. The Stena Line is very boring during the day, I agree.
