May seem a bit strange to have Selwyn on the bench. But people need to remember we've had the likes of Karmichael Hunt, Cooper Cronk, Kalyn Ponga, Matty Bowen, Shaun Berrigan and even Billy Slater have played from the bench. I'm sure I've missed some as well. I'm excited to see how Billy uses Selwyn

Billy showed some surprise when Holmes got off the hip drop charge lightly. if so, did he intend to use Cobbo in the centres? He then had to adjust his bench to include Cobbo.

If its attack Mam deserves to make it but if its defence Mam doesnt deserve to make it (look at his game on the weekend as an example, he just needs to strengthen that part of his game). Cant have any defence hand bags at Origin level... I think Cobbo has more to offer then Fiffita as strong as he is. Fiffita & Mam will get thier chance at some stage. Either way QLD will pump Who Self Wales any day of the week.

Billy's gone with a pragmatic approach.. Leaving Mam out is the decision they'll revisit if the creativity is missing in the first game.. His link up play with Walsh is a scary proposition for that NSW side...

Mam is great. A lot of X-factor in him but his liability is his defense. He is currently leading the NRL with most missed tackles so I believe that Deardon was the right call..

Billy is a smart coach. His coaching has limited Teddy to a point where he made Teddy obsolete. This is a game played in the coaching box, Slater vs Madge.

I've said for a long time that there's no such thing as a bad SoO side - the depth in the NRL is that good. Sure, some sides will be better than others...on paper....but what matters is playing as a champion team instead of as a team of champions. Both teams are strong, withh some selection surprises. Go QLD though lol.

That nsw side is a qld side really. Look at how we approach the last few years and it's similar. Mcinns reminds me of a Dallas Johnson type player very gritty and will work his ass off

I agree with all Mcguire's selection decisions. With the decimated NSW backline i can understand picking Sualii, though i would've picked Ramien. To think Sualii is going to return to NRL because of 'love' of origin is naive. As much as i love league, harsh reality is that he'll never return to league. As he'll get paid way more $$$ moving onto a rich private Japanese or French rugby union club once he finishes his ridiculously lucrative 3-4 year contract with ARU (which is probably going to bankrupt the ARU). Sualii has always gone where the $$$ is. Jist look at how he turned his back on Rabbithohs & Bennett after gentleman's verbal agreement & then doing complete U turn & instead signing with the Roosters, because they let him keep signing 1 year contract extensions, so he could always bugger off to union. Now tol QLD i agree with all the selections, except Fifita being left out. I understand his lack of workrate in past, but i think he's done a lot of work recently to address this. But Slater is an amazing coach (100 x better than Fittler) so im willing to be proven wrong, lol

I’m a Queenslander and I disagree with you Scott about Suallii. He plays Origin and goes to Rugby and probably thinks “I’ve achieved everything in that game”. I’d drop him after game one. Give him a taste, and say “that’s it son, you want more - see you in 3 years”.

So could have had cobbo on the wing and both the other guys in the team. When Fifita is on he’s a wrecking ball. Again he has to be on

Mate Lomax has been incredible at wing, lool not only that you've never heard him cry about not wanting to play wing himself talk about believing media hype thats all you've heard about it is from everybody else that has reported on it but really Lomax has never cried about it he's had a word to his manager and the manager carried out the discussion and Lomax has just put his head down and played tough, he'll do good

that's a crap assesment of fifita man. Just not true at all! How is he too slow for origin he's way faster than most? he averages more tackles and less misses than su'a, nanai and piakura who cares not everyone has mongrel, he scores a million tries and does stuff on his own.
