Amazes me how people like Mike are fine with her skimming off over a million quid but go crazy about a single mother on £80 a week. You're not supposed to make money from a charitable act. It's meant to be done out of genuinely wanting to help. The greed of some people is just unreal. They were already a well-off family, it's not even like they needed the money.

Exactly! I couldn't believe the rubbish he was spouting. Also, there didn't really need to be a Captain Tom foundation as the money was only going to the NHS All Together (?) mental health charity. Twas just a vehicle to make them money. More money . . .

Probably thought the free gift of the holiday would be rescinded if her dad passed away because what else could it be? Everybody knew how deadly Covid could be (except those plonkas who still bleat about the 'PlAnDeMiC'!) so why would you risk it!

A spa for their own use from public donations - and then that idiot praising her for looking after her father in last year of his life which most daughters do for their father without looking for pay for it - she used her father in my opinion

Captain Tom was able to put a smile on people's faces when things were bleak, but the self entitled greed from his extended family wiped the grin away instantly. No one buying the book would ever have thought the funds raised were not going to the NHS, it was all about the NHS. The family saw a gravy train and jumped on aboard, it's only now we know the truth do they regret not being upfront about the money raised. If they weren't doing anything suspect why did they lie about the building of the spa, they fabricated the planning application to get it built. They may not be guilty of a particular crime for the police to be involved, but they are guilty of deceiving the public, pocketing cash from charity speaking, selling tacky memorabilia and finally tarnishing Captain Tom's memory with all of their shady deals. They are still trying to defend their actions, instead of just saying they made mistakes and they're sorry, but no they are still defiant about what they did and why. I have no sympathy for them at all, greed took over them all and they are no better than any other fraudsters.

It has not only tarnished Tom's reputation, it begs the question how he's brought her up, and nobody has mentioned the impact it has on further charity work as people feel conned and won't be as keen to give m money next time..

No one mentions how it's poor form the use the rank Captain once you have left the armed forces. Only Major or above are entitled to use their rank post retirement, but 'Captain Tom' was happy to use his forces links to promote himself anyway. Disgraceful family with middle class smiles full stop.

I am split on this to be honest! Captain Tom was amazing, but Hannah was always there, none of it would have been possible without his family's help, he also lived with them, so i take Hannah was the one looking after him, feeding him, help with personal care, it's a lot, and cold wear you down eventually, but she loved her Dad so did it! I also choose to believe Captain Tom did say the money from his books should go to the family, nothing wrong with him wanting to pass on some money to them, and his books! What i do not agree with his £18,000 for a personal appearance, that is ridiculous, and not sure how she had the Gaul to ask for that money, that is taking the piss!! Her wonderful Dad was the star here, not her, as much as she helped!! So that is my take, and finally Captain Tom's reputation has not been ruined one bit, he was and always will be a legend!!

Sharon, Tom's own foreword of his book said he'd written it to raise more money for the NHS charity. It was marketed as such and that could be one of the reasons why some people bought out. I don't believe a word that woman says.

Since Matthew Wright left this show it's not been as good & it's gradually become more right-wing. I loved it when it was the Matthew Wright Show. They keep having the same old right-wingers on there now! I bet Mike Parry wouldn't be saying this if it had been a family from a council estate on benefits, they'd no doubt have been called all the names under the sun. £18k for one event, a few hours of just sitting there. Someone working part-time that's a year's wages. Looks like Maureen would have taken a chunk too. Makes me sick! It's grotesque! She should have helped her dad for free, who charges to help their parents?
