Labour won't ever return to being in government for a very long time. The MPs who voted for withdrawing WFA, will have the audacity to claim utility expenses on second homes. Reeves has 2 houses, gets £72 k rent and she claims £17 k accommodation expenses. It's double as I say not as I do. Total hypocrisy.

My parents are both 85. I visited them today and they had one heater on their house as they are worried there is a long winter ahead. The room was barely warm. They just dont have the money for heating for more than a few months a year. State pension is not enough. Pension credit is too difficult to understand and claim.

Too many pages to fill out to get it. it should be auto by just Age confirmed . not having to fill out a small book like war and peace. So many elderly people do not understand computer so cant fill out these forms

Where is the winter fuel payment for poor and working young families? People earning minimum wage and raising kids shouldn't be having tax taken to give to wealthy pensioners who can afford it. At the end of the day the limit is too low but I can't get my head around people like Carol that want universal benefits for all pensioners in terms of winter fuel payments but wants to mean test everything else.

Did you know that means testing a benefit costs more than giving it universally ? That's why it was done like this. This move is going to cost more now !

Why not just ask the energy companies to provide a social tariff for low earners like the water companies . The only proof you require is a document to prove who you are and where you live and your P60 form .

I recieve just under £7.500 a year old state pension but I can’t get pension credit because my husband is younger than me,he has always worked until he got phnemonia and covid while in a coma he had a stroke now he can’t work

Shouldn’t have an allowance the pension it’s self needs to be at least £300 a week so they don’t need to keep begging . My hubby died 9 weeks ago cutting my income by over a half but the cost of the heating is still the same . Storm why are you more receptive to what the great highlander had to say you need to be aware you are becoming quite judgemental

The bar just needs to be higher - all lower rate taxpayers should still get it. My husband and I used to get £100.00 each and I pay the bills so it paid half of my December bill and that is all. Everything helps though.

i will not go in to debt. if it means i freeze or starve. and I am not on the pension scrap foreign aid. help is needed in here, uk born people living on the street. all these boat people need instant refusal. why come legally if you can just come i on a boat. get given a hot place to live and 3 meals a day while People in the UK have NO heating and cant even get 2 meals a day

The thing is. It's cheaper to drink alcohol then turn the central heating on. Drink Gin and keep warm whilst spending less. Also, eat lots of beans and trap your "fluffs" under the blanket. Immediate heat.. That's my top tip of the day folks!
