Drake didn't ruin his legacy this is who he is. He was never for the culture. Aubrey Graham like i said before he is an actor playing a rapper. I said this in the comments before and some people thought i was hating. And funny how its the potential lawsuit against UMG that ruins his career but not his behaviour towards minors that is clearly seen on stage. Not the behavior of him doing Blackface and coming with a lame excuse.

This album might be the best I’ve ever heard, with the overarching theme rooted in sports and the spirit of competition. Kendrick has always used unique mediums to express his ideas-Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers as theater, DAMN. as a magazine, and Good Kid, M.A.A.D City as a short film. Here, he channels sports, using its competitive nature to frame the narrative. Another central concept is Kendrick’s homage to his penmanship, which becomes most apparent on the closing track, “Gloria.” The inclusion of a Mexican woman’s voice throughout the album symbolizes his pen, embodying its fears, creativity,and other expressions. This connection is underscored in the intro and outro. In the intro, the Mexican woman expresses fear of what Kendrick is about to do, followed by Kendrick referencing driving and listening to Anita Baker. In the outro, she says, “Me and you, listening to Anita,” bringing the story full circle. Kendrick then reflects on his love for his craft, emphasizing the deep bond he shares with his pen. By intertwining the competitive spirit of sports with a celebration of his artistry, Kendrick delivers an album that is both thematically rich and masterfully executed. It’s a testament to his ability to elevate hip-hop to new narrative heights.

@@BLXCKAskeladd I mean I get he's probably wanted to make a West Coast sounding album his whole career and now was the time to do it.. @@Cee_Hwhy TF does he, I mean why TF does ANY artist have to please everybody? He did something he hasn't done before, he has no 2 albums the same, and so his catalogue is richer. But maybe you wanted his stuff to all sound the same lyrically and shit? It's OK to critique stuff in a balanced way but the ppl who spend their time just throwing shade at others who put themselves in the spotlight, these "critics" never achieved anything original and deserving of public recognition in their life with their lowkey Hater vibe / envy. Maybe this is not for you. There's tracks on this that aren't for me and that's OK. I'm gonna go for the ones I fk wit, maybe you can do the same?
@BLXCKAskeladd7 күн бұрын
@@Cee_H I have to disagree with you saying he sacrificed his lyricism and story telling etc. It may not be as prominent on this album and the holistic concept may not be as complex as his previous works (at least it currently seems that way) but it is still there in abundance on many tracks e.g. on the intro, “man at the garden”, “heart pt. 6”, “reincarnated” (where he raps from the perspective of 3 different artists from separate generations) and “gloria” (which is his love letter to hip-hop similar to Common’s in the 90’s). All of these tracks showcase a good level of skilled lyricism, whether it’s the story-telling on H6, the prolonged metaphorical theme on ‘gloria’ or simply the ability to vividly and extensively convey feelings with words and rhythm on the intro and ‘man at the garden’ (which is an overlooked but difficult skill), the pen you want is there if you are really listening my bro. As a man that listens to a lot of lyrical rap, I’m still catching things in some songs after almost 2 weeks of listening to the album.

GNX aint for the majority. Feels like a love letter to LA culture. For me, its a cool concept and gives few bangers to ring off at superbowl, but its not something im gonna live with long term. But it's another reminder that Kendrick has culture to fall back on, Drake dont.

Drake has always been sensitive. He has always been corny. He was just acting like he was this cool guy. Look at how he sneak disses in his songs and if anyone responds he acts like he is the victim. This is what he is doing right now with this petition over a rap battle. Look at how he reacted to the 'Control' verse by Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick was literally telling all these rappers to step up their game, he was not actually dissing them. Look at how he handled Rihanna not wanting to date him/claim him and choosing to be with Asap Rocky. Look at how he went after Serena Williams husband too.
@lovestory2014810 күн бұрын
This whole situation went over both your heads. Drake has had a war with the establishment which we know as UMG before the beef happened. What UMG did was try to devalue his status to manipulate his negotiation power. Part of that was inflating the success of Not Like Us. Drake is demanding equity, similar to Michael Jackson & Sony. Your Drake hate is clouding any logic you have. So loud and so wrong. Drake is bigger than the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s combined according to the credible Gamma CEO Larry Jackson, a cheque ain't gonna cut it for him anymore. He needs ownership.
@Dpoolbbandit10 күн бұрын
This is why hip hop and people for the “culture” are always getting taken advantage of and just ediats. Drakes gets the most streams, the label don’t want to pay for even less this time as he owns more of his catalogue. Drake made streaming pop hence the 400mill deal and not signing with tidal which brought the industry on the wave. Now the label watering down the product on purpose to re up on the low low

the REAL bigger conversation isnt drake vs his label not wanting to pay him, it's that labels arent rating rap music anymore. the last few years rap has struggled to get a #1 on the charts, the industry has been pushing pop and country instead. drake probably does deserve that 800m, but for his back catalog not the new shit. the labels keep firing their hip hop/r&b divisions. why would they double his bag or give him a % when they're moving away from the genre?
@stuartor34149 күн бұрын
I'm a fan of both but definitely listen to Drake more. Bar for bar I think Drake got the better of him but overall Kendrick won. The thing is with the PDF allegations there are videos online of Drake being inappropriate with a teenage girl at his concert. Millie Bobby Brown has confirmed that Drake was messaging her when she was 14 years old and he took her on a yacht. Why? He has even mentioned things in his song lyrics about teenage girls. That's why the PDF allegations are sticking to Drake. Now Kendrick could have even called Drake out for DV or SA, cause allegedly he paid off a sa case and another woman went on a radio interview saying he was rough with her. *These are just allegations* but Drake had nothing (video/audio) to help him push the allegations about Kdot and DV. Then Whitney was in the video dancing. So Drake could not make that allegation stick.

ayyy man poet is steadily loud and wrong. Fam kendrick is not a real activist. What does he do that's so revolutionary. Kendrick literally does not speak on most issues affecting black ppl. He has had no opinion on any of the issues plaguing the African American community for so many years. He isn't very active politically or socially, he doesn't speak on black injustice in Haiti, Congo, Sudan or anywhere for that matter. Acting like kendrick is this intelligent, thoughtful and cultural leader makes no sense. No one calls to him or goes to him for leadership. IF A REVOLUTIONARY IS EMBRACED BY SOCIETY, BOTH BLACK AND WHITE. YOU HAVE TO THINK TO YOURSELF, WHY ARE THEY COOL WITH KENDRICK LAMAR AND NOT MALCOM OR MARTIN OR FELA OR NELSON MANDELA OR H.P NEWTON. KENDRICK hasn't called out selling dr*gs, unaliving people, hasn't called out pimping, he hasn't talked about fatherlessness and how we can solve that, Kendrick isn't promoting after school programs and feeding kids from poor backgrounds, he isn't providing them tutors, or making black kids in stem programs. AND IF HE IS, ITS NOT BIGGER THAN HIM TEARING A BLACK MAN DOWN, HES NOT EVEN SHOWING HOW TO BE THE CHANGE HE WANTS. THERES PPL LIKE POET WHO GET SOME SELF ESTEEM FROM FEELING LIKE THEY ARE SUPERIOR TO OTHERS, I CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THAT.

but drake did have culture he was always connected to his dads memphis culture even when his dad was locked up and he stayed talking to him through that time he was just closer to his mums side, he also grew up in the 6 and had friends of the culture in there as well, nobody would be saying hes not of the culture if kendrick didnt say it. Drakes issue is he has too many yes men and is never serious about shit including the culture he is a part of but to say drake used and never gave or that hes a vulture is such a reach and bs from people, cos no one was saying that before kendrick said it, no one was saying that when he helped the culutre grow and many artists grow even though he never needed too cos he was already big just like young thug said - what other artist has put on the same way drake has? Drake is at fault for all his issues and he caused a lot of these problems so this aint a defence for drake cos he fucked up and lost and he caused this shit but some naratives are just a reach and false especially when everyone of the culture was praising him a year ago including all the people.

I have and will continue to listen to a lot more Kendrick than Drake. This year is the first year I’ve listened to Drake for more than 2 minutes willingly since 2018. I was also a lyrical spiritual miracle rapper and my favourite rapper is MF DOOM. Drake won the rap battle, but Kendrick won the court of public opinion. Kendrick’s ability to create moments and his strategy for the battle did more of the heavy lifting that his actual rapping. I’d argue (and I’m deeply ashamed to say this) that Drake out rapped and was more hip hop than Kendrick in this battle. Kendrick is a top tier lyricist and I put him over Drake 9/10 but even battle rappers are saying that Drake won… Kendrick can add complexity, flair and meaning to his bars, but if you really listen to what was said by each of them, Kendrick barely makes any direct rebuttals and instead uses super creative concepts and his morality to attack Drake. If your test question is answer 1+1 but your answer is e=mc2, it doesn’t matter how advanced and intelligent your answer is, it’s the wrong answer. That’s what I’ve seen happen with this battle

People keep letting Drake get away with crazy precedents in Hip Hop lol we let him off the Ghostwriter ting cos the music was good Donny is a good rapper but let’s not act like his rise to become number 1 was organic and not pumped up by the machine The problem is he is a multi billion dollar entity that cos plays being a rapper in hindsight he should’ve ignored Kendrick however it seems like he thought Family Matters would do to Kendrick what Not Like Us did to him He’s now 600 million in the hole and looks like someone has to take to the blame for that 😂

I just listened to another podcast where they said they must've been no black people in the room when Drake decided to sue. He'll have to change genres and leave hip-hop like MGK and Post Malone because don't know how he comes back from this.

Yo what if Kendrick girl actually let Dave Free hit, so Kendrick punched her up so now she crip walking in the video on a redemption tour? 😂😂😂

Look…. Your average sheltered white boy wouldn’t let that rock… Dot is an 80’s baby, Compton, WSP is his section. The idea that a violation like THAT would be allowed to rock isn’t a thing. It didnt happen & we know it didn’t because Free is alive and well and working with dot. It’s that simple.

This guy really hates Drake. “Enjoy Drake and Standby Kendrick, but don’t standby Drake.” So much hate from this guy. 😂
