The computer playing instantly is a good thing. It means you made the move it expected, which is always the best move.

Nah it still checks out. The computer starts 2 pawns down. If you play the best move every time (the move the computer expects) you're doing pretty well.

Joep The computer is analyzing against itself only. So the "best move" might not actually be the best move. Leela would disagree with some of Komodo's moves, and beat it because of that.

@@rykehuss3435 I'm not saying that the move the computer comes up with is the absolute best move. Just that if every turn you play the best move the computer itself can come up with and you start the game up two pawns you're beating that computer very likely

@@rykehuss3435 that's true, but if you play what's the best move against the computer, it's like the computer playing against itself, which would keep the position even in a normal game and would just result in a draw. In this case Hikaru starts with an advantage and all he has to do is keep that advantage, so if he always played what the computer thinks is the best move he would win.

RE: very unusual anti computer strategy 43:49 "with the computer it will sometimes just not play a move because it assumes we see the same thing it sees" --- years ago i beat a computer rated about 400 points higher than me with a very unusual anti computer strategy. The exact opposite of the usual anti computer strategy which is to keep position closed avoid complications. The idea is if there is a checkmate it will see it. So create a super active position around the computer's king hoping to create a mating net. (but not actually calculating one ). I sacked about 3 pieces, the last one I thought i must be lost now, and then it cracked, sacked it's Q and multiple pieces because it had seen how i could mate. I don't know if it work against modern engines which are way stronger (that was about 2050 something like that -crafty on fics). But it was extremely satisfying.

@@ezequielangelucci1263 did you read what he wrote? the computer looked so far ahead with brute force analyzation that it thought it needed to sack all its pieces in order to stop it, so it was a combination of moves that would be near impossible for a human to see but the computer thought the threat was imminent

Rook G5 might have been good in that second game a couple moves before you resigned. After pawn takes you recapture with rook putting an attack on the queen. If queen takes you capture with your own queen also putting an attack on the opponents other rook. If the opponent plays queen c3 which is most likely you defend with queen d7 and follow up with rook g2 preparing for rook takes b2

Do you think Hikaru would perform worse, if the engine when evaluating moves evaluated Hikaru's moves using only 3k mmr worth of its power? The reason I suggest this is that I think there are likely tonnes of positions where the engine could do something that would give it a huge advantage, IF its opponent misses a move that Hikaru is very unlikely to find.
