This is great news for Libertarians. Milei is the first Libertarian to be elected to a large nation and his policies have been great. Cutting the government and lowering taxes will always bring an economic boom. When you get the government out of the way business thrives. Indians should also cut the government. it has become too large with too much bureaucrats. Milei also reduced the age to buy a firearm to 18 a massive victory for gun rights. If you are old enough to serve in the army you should be able to buy a gun.

There is no military service in Argentina for 18 yrs old, that was erased a long time ago after the Falklands war. So what does this have to do with guns? do you understand a lot of people in Argentina (like in Brasil or El Salvador, etc), especially young people are uneducated & live around violent gethos and use crime as a way of life so actually increasing access to guns would be a very bad idea for the general population.

I'm not surprised, he is an Economist after all. I was expecting him to make changes that would eventually help the economy both in the short and long term. Economist and business people when in politics make decisions that might anger the civilians because they only think of the short term benefits and are not able to see the long term goals. Everyone was speaking bad about him cutting on this and that, but he did what he had to do, Argentina was under austerity measures. He inherited a country with a horrible economy. Much respect to him and what he has accomplished 🙏.

I’m an Argentinian and I live here. This week, the poverty index for the third quarter, measured by UCA, was released, showing that poverty stands at 38%, which is lower than the last quarter of the previous government one year ago. We are on the right track, but we still need to build up more reserves to start lowering taxes and become more competitive without devaluing our currency, which, in fact, has been the most appreciated in the world in 2024.

I'm Argentinian and some of this information is incomplete. Poverty was through the roof during the previous administration, but the way in which the numbers were taken made it look like it was less. For example, anyone on wellfare was counted as "employed", and anyone receibing gobernment aid counted that against their income so as not to be "poor". One of the first things Milei did after being sworn in was making those numbers more honest. And very recent numbers indicate poverty is already lower than what it was during the previous administration, even when measuring it way more harshly. And this was done in less than a year. Without handouts, or subsidies, or price controls on food, services, or utilities... And without the political backing needed to instate the further reforms he wants. The people SEE this. I, for one, think there's little to no possibility that he doesn't win in the midterms by a landslide

@@shyviking the answer to that is... "kinda" The previous administration was very much in bed with the CCP, and Argentina is broke. Much is he most likely would've loved to tell Xi to go F@ck himself... Milei is an acting president, and as such has a responsabiliyy to his people first. He has to honor debts taken and has been renegotiating those for better terms. Also, the current administration has been working to curtail comercial and military inroads into the country that the Kirchnerists sold to China. And when the courts find out how and for how much was that agreed to, and where the money went... There's a lot of people that very well should end up in prision for a very, VERY, long time. So yeah... We are a poor country that has a lot of debts. If we want anyone to ever lend us money again, we cannot whimsically decide to not pay someone because "the president doesn't like what's-his-face" now, could we?

Saludos.

This guy has done so much with just 7 senators of his own and the entire political system against him. Poverty was in fact 50 percent when he enter the government, it was simply not reported correctly by the previous administration that forced prices to stay low at the cost of destroying industries and pushing the imminent hyperinflation Milei managed to destroy just in time. The cost was dearly but there was nothing else to do. Argentina was heading for the abyss and the only thing that could stop us was to grow wings and learn to fly... amazingly this is happening and prices are going down finally (slowly but steadily) and also is poverty. If he would have been helped by the political system he could have achieve this in less than 6 months, but he also exposed all the corrupt polititians that will surely end up leaving parlament on 2025 elections. Argentinians have grown away from the left and are willing to embrace the ideas of freedom once more.

Overall a good segment although I take issue with one point talking about the increase in poverty. Milei has addressed this in stating that the prior figure was inaccurate as the true poverty level was masked by price controls. Evaluating poverty relative to price controlled goods makes little sense when there is no supply at that price. By eliminating price controls, the true price can be set and the real poverty level can be revealed. That said, his lay offs have also contributed to the increase in poverty but to fully attribute the increase to the layoffs and the removal of these programs is not entirely accurate.

Imagine India is cutting down on its bureaucracy !! Austerity measures spread all over Europe, especially Greece during the GFC (Global Financial Crisis). Greek people suffered the same way as described by that young lady. Being frugal is good, but if the knife cuts too deeply, it will cut into the blood vessels, and the country would bleed to death. So a chainsaw is probably a bit too extreme.

4:00 poverty didnt rise, the index was rigged. The previous government had a program called "precios cuidados" (protected prices) that had some basic goods like rice on a fixed price and that stock was cleared out really quickly so very few people got them at that price. Once milei got rid of Protected Prices, we started measuring the purchase power with the prices people had always been paying for. I love milei's plan and his execution, but we are far from ok, there's still a lot to be done

No it is not average g7 128% usa stand at 123% its a bit higher then ideal but economist all agree that perfect gdp to debt for advance economy hover around 60% current us deficit in 2024 is 1.83 trillion dollars with a total revanue of 4.92T total us goverment spending in 2024 is 6.75T if doge could cut 1.83t in goverment spedning and us economy continue to grow at the current 3% and with future tax revanue continue to grow at similar rate we are talking less then 15 years to cut us debt to gdp in half by not doing a god damn thing except for cuting 1.83t in spending not even paying down the debt by a single dollar but by growing out of it and yes this is somthing you can actully do most top 500 comapny have maintain 20-40% debt to market cap for a healthy leverage but with the reduction in debt burden in Interest and tax incentive for coperation the us might even see 5-6% growth that means getting the debt to gdp to 60% will be less then 6-8 years under ideal circumstance so if trump and first time jd vance plays it right they might actully reset the us economy in under 2 presidential terms but lets assume they do it in 3 terms 1 of trump and 2 of vance if they stay the course this will be historic.

But we have several estimates from both goverment and private sources that say that poverty has drop at the same levels that before Milei goverment (at about 38%) with a big difference: now, the economic grothw is robust and the future is promising.
