While the #SubaruLegacy has never been the kind of sales leader like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. #Subaru has always offered a genuine AWD alternative to the more common offerings from Honda and Toyota. For 2020, the #LegacyXT is the most powerful #Legacy that Subaru has offered with up to 260 HP and 277 lb-ft of torque. It rides on the same Subaru Global Product architecture as most of its siblings and the interior has been completely redone to include a large 11.6" tablet in the center stack. It should continue to entice sedan shoppers needing AWD but does it have the chops to attract some sport sedan shoppers?

Good morning guys! The driving scene for this video is a bit different and longer but we really wanted to show you all more on how the Legacy XT drives. Hopefully you liked the dynamic between Sofyan and Clint from Motor1.com! It really is a nice alternative AWD to Honda, Toyota, and Mazda... if only Subaru would consider offering a more aggressive looking and handling Sport trim with the turbo engine 🤔🤔🤔

Clint needs a WRX, he drove that car very hard and started complaining when the CVT held mid punch for a while. He doesn’t like the Legacy. Here’s the deal, a Legacy was never meant to be a race car, y’all are failing to mention that out of all turbo between the Honda, Nissan, and Mazda the Subaru Legacy has the larger turbo engine and will smoke them all even with a CVT. Subaru has also step up its interior and is now better looking than Nissan and Honda. It’s also just as good as the Mazda. With that said keep doing your shows by yourself and keep Clint away or you’ll lose credibility.

I'm hoping that Subaru bringing back the turbo for the legacy and outback, as well as teasing a STI Forester, means that they hear our desperate cries for more turbo. I absolutely love my trek but it's only problem is that it's gutless when it comes to power.

All the things you guys are complaining about, I like - light steering (I like to turn the wheel with one finger like I can in my '72 LTD), softer suspension, tires with higher sidewalls to help with the ride and I like the CVT in our new Forester. I hate multi speed transmissions that are constantly shifting. So, this is a car I would consider in the future.

I bought a Touring XT a couple days ago and I love it. I like the understated exterior styling, the premium interior, the quiet ride, the excellent seats, the fit/finish, the tech and the engine. I've never owned a Subaru so I'm not comparing it to models from 10-20 years ago (which I think is very unfair). Standing on its own in 2021 its an awesome car and I'm glad it doesn't have the faddish, overdone styling of the Altima, Accord or Camry. It will age a lot better.

@Nick I was worried too because my previous cars all had cloth seats, but after having gone through the hot summer where its regularly in the 90s and 100s here it was fine. I just set the seat ventilation on the lowest setting and my back never got sweaty. The nappa leather is very comfortable and I get compliments on it all the time about how good the tan looks with the Abyss Blue Pearl paint. It does look very premium.
@jeffmorse645
@jeffmorse645 2 жыл бұрын
@Nick Those seats were the main reason I bought it. I'm 6' 3", 205 lbs with pretty long legs and the thigh extension on the driver's seat made all the difference. The seats in general are very comfortable but that extra thigh support is great for a taller person. I have never owned a car that I was so comfortable in.

I just test drove one and I am very impressed with the interior. It is very high quality and loaded with all kinds of new technologies. The car is quick and smooth. As for the styling, almost every other brand for this size car, has more eye appeal. That being said, it’s not ugly. It’s just not as pretty looking as the competition. But I do think that the interior comfort and style and overall value is by far the best and I’ve driven everything. I am hunting for a slightly used one with the certified warranty, because I won’t buy anything new due to new vehicles dropping 20% in value the second you drive it off the lot.

The Mazda6 2.5T has the same 1/4 mile trap speed of 93.4 mph as the Accord 2.0T 10-speed. But the Malibu 2.0T has a higher trap speed than Accord 2.0T and is 0.4 faster around figure eight test and leads this field. "...the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds at 99.4 mph." "The 2017 Malibu lapped the figure eight in 26.3 seconds at 0.70 g lateral average and pulled 0.88 g around the skidpad." Where the 6 2.5T was slower at 26.7s The Malibu 2.0T blows the Mazda6 2.5T(33 mpg hwy) away in highway fuel economy with 37 mpg. Motor Trend The Mazda cannot put the power down or cannot distribute tire grip in braking on the figure-8 test and will be two full car lengths behind at .4 in arrears at 40 mph speed during the 27s test compared to the Malibu 2.0T. The Malibu will be quieter, ride better and have lower NVH than Mazda, regardless of what the magazines reviews say.

I had a 2016 Forester XT with very minor mods and was holding out hope that the 2020 Outback XT would replace the turbo-sized hole in Subaru's SUV/wagon lineup. I'm glad I didn't wait and traded in for a Mazda CX-5 GTR. The number of changes I'd have to make to a stock Subaru to make it drive in a remotely pleasing manner, and *still* have the CVT to live with... just not worth it. I will say not all Japanese AWD systems are equal and the Subaru's beats Mazda, but I just moved to Socal I'm fine with the CX-5. Also, shoutout to Sofyan for the excellent review on the CX-5. Definitely watched it more than once when making my decision.

I work at a mechanics shop that specializes in Subarus. I dont disagree with you in regards to the boring and unenthused driving characteristics of the cvt's but I will say that reliability has not been an issue. Subaru has been using these cvt's since 2011 and we are getting Subarus in the shop with 180-220k on the clock still driving strong. The difference is the Subaru made cvt uses a chain instead of metal cord reinforced rubber belt to operate the transmission.

Funny how all new manufacturers are going too CVT's to save cost and reliability.. when they keep up-charging year, after year and CVT's from most brands are not very reliable. Sounds like they're cutting costs on their end to make more profit off of their customers. " Sport " with a 2.5 Naturally aspirated and CVT. Ridiculous. I wish they would all just stick too DSG transmissions.

@@TheKbreezy34 yea, I mean I completely understand that but putting cvts in all of their vehicles is ridiculous. Like the WRX, or even the Legacy. 15 -20 years ago, those were sports sedans and wagons. People wanting to buy something more sporty will probably care less about mpgs over someone buying an outback ( which is also silly too have a cvt due to offroad capabilities ) or any of their other family oriented offerings. Them only offering cvts now I guarentee will hurt their sales in a way. Like I said, not everyone cares about mpgs and there are certain vehicles centered around that kind of thing. But not all vehicles in a brands line up should have them.

I'll admit it has a great looking interior and the 11.5" Infotainment screen is very nice. That's about all I have positive to say about this car. So many manufacturers today are messing up. Those that are still building real sedans just don't have any offerings that can compete with what I have now two of. Unless you want to shell out around $50K or above for a Sedan. This past weekend I flew to Colorado from Utah to pick up my second 2015 Chrysler 200C AWD with the 3.6L Pentastar V6. This one has nearly all of the Tech including Self Parking, Lane Keep, Radar Adaptive Cruise Control all the way down to a stop, Collision avoidance, Hill Assist, Auto Dimming Headlights, Rain Sensing Wipers. This one had just over 28,000 miles on it and I picked it up for under 16,000. Granted, it has garbage Nexen tires on it . A lot of people are hard on Chrysler in general as a brand and I think it was a big mistake for them to cancel the 200 as they could have fixed the transmission issues and kept it as a flagship car. Drivewise with it's great handling, and comfort I would put it up against most of the competition out there (Accord, Camry, Sonata) and most certainly a Subaru. Having a naturally aspirated 3.6L with 295 HP and 289 Lb/Ft of Torque with AWD is nice. Driving from Aurora CO back to SLC Airport, then to Ogden Utah. My "new" 200C got as high as 39 MPG going through the Mountains and overall with the stopping and traffic we had to deal with, 35 MPG. My first 200C has nearly 88,000 miles on it and as a daily driver to work etc. gets 29 MPG and on the highway for trips will get up in the mid to high 30 MPG range still.
